Newcastle Miss Out On Striker Jose Naranjo

Rafa Benitez was reportedly only yesterday to be interested in signing 21 year old Gimnastic de Tarragona striker Jose Naranjo, but if that’s true we have missed out on the young striker.

There’s news in Spain today that Celta Vigo have signed the young forward, who scored 16 goals in 36 games last season for his Spanish second division club.

Both Newcastle and Aston Villa were said to be interested in signing the young striker, who can play through the middle or out on either wing.

Jose Naranjo – to sign for Celta Vigo

The release clause in his contract was €3M and he still had two years left on that deal, but it looks like Celta Viga have signed the youngster for what is about £2.36M.

The Spanish club are reported to be announcing today they have signed the promising youngster.

The young striker only moved to Gimnastic last year from Recreativo and signed a three year deal at the time.

With pre-season training starting a week on Tuesday we are still expecting at least one new player to be signed before then – but it will not be Jose Naranjo.

ah well it’s all in benny’s hands.

one thing about benny is he keeps things under lock and key so anyone we are linked to i’m not sure we actually are.

my view on reece oxford as a player is he’s a great exciting young english prospect but come on 15mil for a 17yo who’s had 1 very good game ! far too risky imo but like i say it’s prob all talk as benny does not give anything away on transfers.

The squad reassembles on a week on Monday.

If we have not signed anyone by then – it will probably be because whoever we have lined up is still involved in Euro2016 or CopaAmerica.

    I’m a glass half-full kinda guy.

Another rumour that originated from who knows where reminding me not to believe any rumour. 😉 Rafa’s very unlikely to let things like this slip to the press, so no doubt we’ll be inundated with rumours spread by agents for a while longer. I suspect that players will be signed before a rumour even starts. He’s not likely to advertise who he’s interested in, after all.
