Rafa Benitez Considers Move For Arsenal Center-Back

The Shields Gazette is reporting today that Rafa Benitez is thinking about signing Arsenal’s 21 year-old center-back Isaac Hayden on loan for next season.

Hayden was born in Chelmsford and has played twice in the Arsenal first team and was on loan last season at Hull City and played 24 times for The Tigers with one goal and one assist as he helped Hull get promoted straight back to the Premier League via the playoffs.

Isaac Hayden – Arsenal center-back

So the 6ft 2ins tall center-back already has experience of playing in the Championship and Benitez will bring in two center-backs this summer, but one is expected to be an experienced player and that’s not Hayden.

Steven Taylor has already left Newcastle and Fabricio Coloccini is expected to return to Argentina this summer.

Hayden is also reported as being a target of QPR.

Isaac has a Jamaican mother and English father and made his debut for Arsenal back in September 2013 playing in midfield in a League Cup third round game against West Brom.

The youngster only turned 21 in March and was on a season-long loan deal at Hull City and made his debut for the club on the opening day of last season in a 2–0 home win against Huddersfield Town.

Hayden has represented England at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 levels and he is a talented young player who obviously Rafa Benitez thinks could become a good player in the future.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has described Hayden as a player whose key assets are concentration, intelligence and strength.

The lad can play at center-back or in defensive midfield and is equally comfortable in either position, so he seems a versatile player too.

Hayden would seem like a decent loan signing for us for next season.

Wonder if the loan deal would be with an option to buy?

What do you think?

There is probably no better manager for a young centre back to learn his craft with than Steve Bruce.
It depends whether Wenger considers a coach like Rafa will bring Hayden on any more.
