Rolando Aarons Upbeat And Confident About Newcastle

Over the last two summers 20 year-old Rolando Aarons has worked through the summer on getting fit for the upcoming season, but he’s had a real bad time of it with injuries and over the last two seasons appeared only 17 times with 3 goals for Newcastle.

Well it’s a case if plan A doesn’t work move to plan B and this summer Rolando – after putting in a great sub appearance against Tottenham,  when he scored one and made one in the last few minutes of the game – left immediately for a summer holiday.

Good for him.

Rolando Aarons scoring great goal against Spurs

Rolando looked great in pre-season two years ago, but he has been dogged by injuries – mostly hamstring injuries – over the last couple of years.

Rafa Benitez will try to improve the overall terrible record of injuries at Newcastle this season and Rolando is also hoping for a fairly injury free season next term.

He was asked what he did over the summer and this is what Rolando has said in the Chronicle today:

“To be honest I went on holiday straight away. I hadn’t actually been on holiday before so I did that this year.”

“I’m now working on a few things just before pre-season and then I will come back ready for the new season.”

“I was happy with my performance and goal but it didn’t make up for relegation so we just have to focus on next season and get back to the Premier League.”

“We have quality players and we can bounce back.”

Aarons has only one year left on his contract so he will need to impress Rafa Benitez if he wants to stay on, with Rafa alone deciding who gets new contracts at the club.

What we need is for Rolando to get back to his best form and stay injury free and he will do very well indeed next season on Tyneside.

Hope so.

I think this kid has massive talent and has been so unlucky with injuries. He is exactly what we need on the left, quick and direct with an eye for goal. He burst onto the scene with some great performances before getting injured and then was our best player in pre season by a country mile before again getting injured. If he can stay fit will be a star in the chamoionship and then will be ready to rip up the prem.

Let’s hope this season is kinder to Aarons on the injury front, because his talent is obvious. Time for our young guns to show what they’re capable of in the Championship and ready themselves for another go at the PL next time around. I’m really looking forward to the season and watching our young lads grow in stature. Right, skysports news is calling with those fixtures. 😉

Too much is made of scout/manager/ agent links.

KK the first time round had no contacts (he’d been on the golf links for years) he was totally dependant on Russell Cushing (Charnleys mentor)
Who now is an agent in his own right
