This Could Be A Challenge For Rafa Benitez

3:17 pm, Friday, June 24th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 61 Comments

Tim Krul is further along in his fitness than we thought and the 28 year-old has tweeted today that he looks very close to being fully fit again.

Tim Krul – Newcastle goalkeeper

Tim will be reporting back to training next Tuesday along with most of the other players and he will be hoping to start the game at Fulham on Friday 5th August.

Rafa Benitez will want to take a look at Tim as he has to decide who is Newcastle’s best goalkeeper for this coming season.

Karl Darlow is fit and did really well in the final eight games of last season and Rob Elliot was our Player of the Season last term, but he will not be fully fit until near the end of the year.

But there is news that new Everton manager Ronald Koeman wants his fellow Dutchman to replace Tim Howard who has left Everton to return to the US and play for the Colorado Rapids.

Krul has only one year left on his contract and Rafa will have to decide if a decent bid comes in from Everton or even Crystal Palace and Alan Pardew – whether Rafa will want to sell the goalkeeper.

We don’t know whether Rafa rates Tim Krul or not, but he saw that both Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow can get the job done for Newcastle in the nets, so if Rafa needs the money he could potentially sell Tim for a decent fee.

We don’t think that will happen, but certainly longer term Rafa will need to sort out who is the number one goalkeeper at Newcastle.

We have three very good ones at the moment.

There could be a decent bid come in for Tim Krul from Everton shortly and Rafa will have to make a decision fairly quickly.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

  • 5 lochinvar // Jun 24, 2016 at 3:49 PM

What happens to our quota of non-UK players when we leave the EU ?

  • 6 JAMSHA // Jun 24, 2016 at 3:58 PM

    sell them

  • 7 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 4:12 PM

Please please enough of the politics.
Listening to the sometimes shyte football posts from some of you is bad enough -having to endure your political views is too much.
Nearly as bad as people trying to convince you to listen to their brand of music.

Now then nothing wrong with some educational grammar posts or to share my experience with keeping chickens.
My post last night about a broody hen was very informative.

Now you know how we feel about your none stop multilple yawnfest. Works both ways you know? 😉

  • 9 hibbitt // Jun 24, 2016 at 4:37 PM

    Mr T
The good news ……….. just had 14 ducklings hatch out of 20 now thats good news !!

  • 10 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 4:48 PM

Hibbit – is that a good return ratio. Were they your own eggs or did you buy them in.

  • 11 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 4:51 PM

Hmm. Brexit woes or hen house antics….hard to choose which is the most riveting…

  • 12 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 4:52 PM

You realise all this European cast off stuff doesn’t affect Ketsy, he’s not from this planet you see 🙂

  • 13 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 4:53 PM

Well I’m going to Brexit Work and go home.

  • 14 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 4:58 PM

Really get sick of your Armstrong posts – no problem with a few describing his abilities, your vision of what lies in the future – but on and on and on and on describing the same view is not only a yawnfest but the yawnfest of all yawn…………………………fests —– whoops nearly fell asleep writing this.
Nearly as bad as the super supporter posts -yawn.
    ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.

    http://www.hoy.es/gente-estilo/201606/21/xabi-alonso-arbeloa-callejon-20160621001233-v.html

    I don’t believe in coincidences.

The 3 players above together in a restaurant 2 days ago in Ibiza all have big links with Rafa .

Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso everyone knows while José Callejón was a winger striker for Benny at Napoli.

Ibiza try to ident the restaurant from the pic and go and interviw the owner about what’s happenin’ man !

  • 16 hibbitt // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:07 PM

    MrT

    my first time with ducks
got the eggs given from the farm up the road
just put them in a brinsea incubator 30 days later 14 ducklings
i was pleased with the hatch rate
no idea how to sex them which would be a help been told the drakes have pointed tail feathers but will just have to wait and see

  • 17 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:13 PM

hibbitt – I know little about ducks but there are videos about vent sexing ducklings on line – some folk can tell by their voices.

  • 18 Jib // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:14 PM

Hibbit – The male has a curly tail

  • 19 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:21 PM

Jib posting old family snaps there?

  • 20 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:23 PM

It looks like the patio needs pressure washing though…

  • 21 bettyswallocks // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:34 PM

    Jib….. That quacked me up.

  • 22 bettyswallocks // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:37 PM

    Jib…….you’re mallardjusted!

  • 23 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:40 PM

I don’t think Rafa will be overly keen to sell Tim Krul and I doubt whether Krul will be keen to go. Genuinely nice lad and seems to be loyal to nufc. I just hope he’s working on his distribution whole getting fit.

More likely Rafa sees Elliot as the next out the door but not until the end of the season. Our goalkeeper attrition rate is something to be respected. 😐

  • 24 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:43 PM

I don’t know where he found that pic but he better be careful someone don’t call the Bill or he’ll be up before the Beak. I don’t know Waddle become of him after that. Probably taken Down, then tarred and Feathered.

  • 25 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:44 PM

Did all your ducklings Breggsit the eggs alright, Hibbit?

  • 26 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:45 PM

OK I’ll stop the corny yolks. Ooh dear that was terrible I’m truly sorry..

  • 27 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:55 PM

Hibbit do you have a pond btw?

  • 28 bettyswallocks // Jun 24, 2016 at 5:58 PM

Someone will object to Jib’s link as duckist. It won’t be the first time he’s been accused of fowl play.

  • 29 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:04 PM

some bloody duck eggs on here.

  • 30 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:06 PM

Tsunki – aye no online image there – straight from the Jib family album/ or from his private collection.

  • 31 bettyswallocks // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:06 PM

Eggs’ll be going up again. That’ll surprise a few chickens and ducks.

  • 32 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:08 PM

Tuff, you would get sick of football related posts though. Not really your strong point is it? 😉

  • 33 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:08 PM

For Rafa to be successful Mr Tubbs needs to shell out quite a bit of money.

  • 34 welshgeordie9 // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:11 PM

So i take it that we won’t be signing anyone today then, bloody papers.

  • 35 welshgeordie9 // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:11 PM

Was hoping for Charlie Austin rumours.

  • 36 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:12 PM

Bobby Bee – why do you keep wanting to have a poke – give it up man.
You’ll be sad Russia is out – thus their thugs will be away and nothing to bring back your own thug memories.
See I can have a poke as well.
For someone who brags about quickly burying the hatchet after spats you do not practice what you preach.

  • 37 bettyswallocks // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:13 PM

As Jib is now a Spanish egg farmer , what does he say to his hens every day?

    Oh-lay.

  • 38 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:19 PM

So sorry Tufty, didn’t realise you’d be offended by a bit of fun. Do as i say, not as i do eh? 😉

  • 39 Jail for Ashley // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:20 PM

I predict a rant to the tune of Kaiser chiefs.

  • 40 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:22 PM

Bobby Bee no problems with a bit of fun at all – cannot see smileys with my eyesight and haven’t a clue how to do them.

  • 41 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:26 PM

Your eyesight? God, trying to get sympathy i suppose. 😉

  • 42 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:32 PM

Just a bit of fun matey, no offence intended whatsoever.

  • 43 G // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:35 PM

Sick of all the Brexit talk, exactly 100 years today since battle of the Somme, 21 gun salutes all over the country, including Gateshead quayside, mentions or respect shown by the media, none. Give yourself a pat on the back British media, you are all scum.

  • 44 Ketsbaia9 // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:37 PM

I think our first signing is going to be Gaston Ramirez. He’s available on a free and did well last season at Boro.

  • 45 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:40 PM

G, sad innit marra? It’s like the soldiers who come home missing limbs, then have to rely on charity to get them better prosthetic limbs. The govt send them to fight in made up wars, then quickly forget their unbelievable sacrifice. Any war veteran should be looked after for life, not be ignored by those in power. Shameful really.

  • 46 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:41 PM

Kets, you sure he’s on a free matey? Thought boro wanted big bucks for him?

  • 47 G // Jun 24, 2016 at 6:44 PM

Bobby, you took the words out of my mouth mate

  • 48 Thump // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:00 PM

@Bobby: He was on loan from Southampton – he’s on a free.

  • 49 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:02 PM

G, my brother in law was in the gulf war. Came back with dozens of different cancers due to uranium tipped bombs – ours, not theirs. Died within a few years and the army insisted he was cremated, in order to prevent any gulf war syndrome investigations. Within months they’d demanded my sister and niece leave their home. Shameful.

  • 50 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:03 PM

Thump, am i thinking of another boro player? 😉

  • 51 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:06 PM

All those smoggies look alike to me! 😉

  • 52 G // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:08 PM

Sad to hear that, they gave us loads of meds to take for the Gulf, wanted us to sign a waiver before taking them, I signed it but flushed the meds, would rather take my chances of dodging chemical weapons than take iffy meds that may or may not cause long term problems.

  • 53 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:16 PM

G, sounds like you did the right thing marra. They don’t care about the individual as long as it serves their sad agendas. ‘Sign this waiver, so if our drugs kill you it’s all your fault’. Then give you a bronze medal to make it all right. I take it you’re out now then mate?

  • 54 lordy_geordie // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:19 PM

Any idea when tickets for Fulham go on sale? I’m not a season ticket holder but want to go. Also will it be a sell out for away fans?

  • 55 G // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:21 PM

Left in 99, miss it, but keep in touch with the boys. Anyway, family duties call, later guys.

  • 56 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:24 PM

Lordy, tickets only available for ST holders and members sadly. Unless the knacka changes that policy.

  • 57 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:28 PM

Lordy, there’s a neutral section at fulham, which we normally fill anyway. Might be worth you contacting Fulham and buying a ticket for that section. It’ll be fuull of mags anyway, so you won’t be alone!

  • 58 Bobbybee // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:37 PM

Right, soaps are on so i’ve lost the tv. Want to watch the cricket so need the tablet for that. Later chaps.

  • 59 Jib // Jun 24, 2016 at 7:57 PM

Anyone remember the Argentinian left back Lucas Orban ?

McClaren tried last winter to get him on loan from Valencia who have a surfeit of left backs.
    He opted for Levante instead.

He only played for them 3 times.

He has been on Rafa’s radar for some time.
He has had so few games in the last few seasons that he may be desperate enough to play for a decent manager in the Championship

    http://www.vavel.com/es/futbol/valencia-cf/662231-analisis-de-los-cedidos-lucas-orban.html

  • 60 lordy_geordie // Jun 24, 2016 at 8:39 PM

Thanks guys. I was going to sign up for membership but if tickets will be sold out I don’t want waste my money on membership.

  • 61 Magtoonpie // Jun 25, 2016 at 6:07 AM
