Newcastle Player Wants To Stay – Will Concentrate On Positives

7:35 pm, Monday, June 27th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 237 Comments

There has been news for the last couple of days that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 22 year-old Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez, but as we wrote this morning we’d be very surprised if Rafa Benitez allows him to leave Newcastle this summer.

But Ayoze has never shown any interest in leaving Newcastle and he only recently signed a new improved deal that will keep him at Newcastle for the next five years.

Rafa Benitez with Ayoze Perez
Now listen son – I want you to go out there and score 5 goals

Perez has been upbeat and positive ever since Rafa Benitez arrived as the Newcastle manager and it seems the young Spaniard is only thinking of how he can help Newcastle get promoted next season.

This is what the Newcastle forward has said in the Spanish publication El Dia:

“I have a contract with Newcastle until 2021, I was part of the relegation and I am preparing to return my best.”

“It was not a good year collectively or individually, but I scored some goals.” “You have to take the positives and think about what’s coming.”

“It’s going to be tough but in your career, a player must always jump over obstacles.”

“I heard about the Brexit vote, I have received some news about it, but being here on my vacation, it is not the time to dwell on that matter.”

“What has to happen will happen.” “I do not know if it will impact on my future.” “I do not want to think too much about what will happen, only training.”

“I have not had a chance to discuss the matter with my teammates.”

The effect of the UK’s exit from the European Union will be very complex at best, but it does have some potential negatives for the Premier League.

It will be more difficult for players who are part of the EU to arrive in England and they will need some sort of visa once the UK has officially separated from the EU.

But it’s all so complex that it’s almost impossible to know exactly what will happen.

Comments welcome.

    Mister tiff 20/1 for 4-0

Fingers crossed for an early goal.

  • 2 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 7:44 PM

Sorry to burst the bubble but I said before, that if we get an early goal we could get four. So no chance you will cash in ha ha 🙂

  • 3 Novocastrian66 // Jun 27, 2016 at 7:48 PM

1-0 England and a ridiculously boring game.

  • 4 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 7:49 PM

I see the Icelandicelanderics grinding this out for pens. As if they’ll do that to the final. Why bother turning up to play like that?

  • 5 cyprus // Jun 27, 2016 at 7:54 PM

Italy Belgium in the final again?

I agree with the boring 1-0 here.

France to beat us, Italy France semi.

Belgium to cruise through on the other side. Hazard majestic.

    England to hammer these lot

  • 7 cyprus // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:01 PM

A bit sad that we depend on Walker for an England performance

What were you saying about the early goal…?

  • 9 JP...from The Rock // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:05 PM

Come on England! 1-0 rooney pen. Great start.

  • 10 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:05 PM

This is a disaster. Can’t see us breaking them now. Iceland. Can you believe it?

  • 22 JP...from The Rock // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:20 PM

I don’t know what’s more depressing supporting Newcastle or England.

haha they must’ve been watching our defending
there’ll be a few of them “i hate iceland!!!!!” vids popping around right about now

  • 26 Jail for Ashley // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:22 PM

Ffs man. How the fcuk is he still the number one keeper. He’s proving decidedly average to poor.

  • 30 Uncertain Toon // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:25 PM

    Tis all very embarrassing!

  • 31 cyprus // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:27 PM

Dier is the best England can do?

  • 32 BandB // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:29 PM

Good as he’s been Cyprus, this is a game where we don’t need Dier.

  • 33 Belfast // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:31 PM

Woy and co obviously didn’t plan for these Iceland tactics. Look all over the place.

  • 34 AncientC // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:31 PM

The celebration after Rooney’s goal looked quite insincere. They looked like they would have been more comfortable if everybody just had to shake hands after the goal, all nice and orderly like. None of this jumping around and embracing one another.

  • 35 BandB // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:32 PM

    This should be 4-4-2

  • 36 manxpie // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:32 PM

llallana as much as i dont rate him he has looked far far better than sterling and he gets dropped
and townsend who was in better form than both and barkley not even on the plane

  • 37 Thump // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:33 PM

    @Belfast: What, you mean teamwork?

  • 38 Average_Contents // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:34 PM

Joe Hart. The very definition of “too busy chewing and fixing his hair to dive”

The defending has been shocking too.

    Sterling is absolute dogshit.

Kane is a big lump and Sturridge doesn’t seem to want to pass it that much.

    Wtf is going on.

  • 39 sing in the corner // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:35 PM

They just need to be patient. Yes it’s embarassing as it stands, but Iceland are having to graft so hard without the ball, chase shadows the whole time. I reckon we will wear them ragged by 60 mins max and run out comfortable enough winners.

  • 40 Average_Contents // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:36 PM

Let’s hope he makes the subs at half time and they have an effect because this, whatever it is, clearly isn’t working woy.

    Nugget.

  • 41 Belfast // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:37 PM

I think they probably expected Iceland to be camped in their own half Thump, but they’re actually having a go.

  • 42 manxpie // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:38 PM

sing you watching the same game?
the only energy they are using is when they are attacking us

  • 43 sing in the corner // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:38 PM

Not liking the non verbals from Sturridge like. He looks a bit lacklustre to me this evening..

  • 44 manxpie // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:39 PM

i think smalling forgot which box he was in there

  • 45 Average_Contents // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:39 PM

Still don’t get why kane is taking set pieces. He’s a striker. Get in the fcuking box.

  • 46 AncientC // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:41 PM

Iceland look good for 1 more goal within the 90. England will need to find another 3 goals to win this game.

  • 47 cyprus // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:41 PM

Lallana way better than Rooney or whomever he replaces

  • 48 Average_Contents // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:42 PM

Rooney looks the same sitc. Tbf they all look half a yard off. Again.

We need to up the tempo and go for them.

  • 49 manxpie // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:43 PM

aye average its not as if they’ve been even close to working either
won’t this be counted as the most embarrassing loss ever?

  • 50 cyprus // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:43 PM

That was half of Iceland in that crowd shot 🙂

  • 51 Novocastrian66 // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:46 PM

AC; why is Kane on the pitch. He is garbage.

  • 52 sing in the corner // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:48 PM

We haven’t recovered from the soft second goal at all. Gone static and ponderous compared to the fast start IMO. Long way to go, get em in and sort it out Hodgson.

  • 53 BandB // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:48 PM

It would make a huge difference to our forward momentum if we brought on Stones for Cahill.

  • 54 carl // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:48 PM

    BandB
Good call on Dier. He could play in back 3 and push FB’s on. We’re playing too much in our own half, over passing get ball out wide on both sides of field.

  • 55 carl // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:50 PM

    Band B
Stones for Cahill. He’s far more comfortable on the ball breaking forward. Hodgson needs to be brave.

  • 56 Rotonda heights // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:51 PM

    bandb

    good call on stones

  • 57 GeordieTwo // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:51 PM

Unbelievable. On their second goal not one England defender was marking his man properly. Terrible display really from us. I would bring in Rashford and Vardy. The pace of our buildup is far too slow. It allows Iceland to get everyone behind the ball.

  • 58 Novocastrian66 // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:53 PM

Ali has to be hooked. Give Barkley a go. Kane off and Vardy on. Don’t waste a sub swapping a defender for a defender.

  • 59 Mister Tuff // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:53 PM

Get Kane and Sturridge off – doing nothing.

  • 60 BandB // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:56 PM

    carl

I fear what we will get is Lallana, then Vardy, then Wilshere.
Vardy will equalise, unless Iceland make it 3-1 first (which looks likeliest right now)
Then Lallana and Wilshere will miss penalties.

  • 61 manxpie // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:57 PM

    stones is over-rated too
get vardy on for kane and llallana on for sterling
no point in wasting a sub on for a defender

  • 62 BandB // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:57 PM

I fear the Gods of Football are bored to fcuck with Roy.

  • 63 AncientC // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:57 PM

Most of the England stats look good; passing, aerial duels, shots etc. Where they are coming apart is being dispossessed on the ball… 12 times to far. Sterling has to be guilty for quite a few of those.

The team celebration after Rooney scored was very telling. Phony celebrating for a team that clearly doesn’t care like it should.

  • 64 Novocastrian66 // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:58 PM

I would stick with Sturridge. Kane has to be taken off.

  • 65 BandB // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:59 PM

Everything freezes while Cahill is on the ball.

  • 66 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 8:59 PM

Slap the defenders and swap out sterling and kane. Roy has bottled it yet again. Will he have the bottle to make some early switches or will he he keep trying this until it works?

  • 67 carl // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:00 PM

Sturridge has been poor so Vardy could be on before too long. Our build up play is far too slow allowing them to get behind the ball. If Vardydoes come on we can get ball forward quicker and catch them on the break. It ain’t over yet.

  • 68 toonking // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:00 PM

I’ve always said newcastle and england are alike, they both try to show off, they both struggle to break down defences and they both make it easy for crap teams.

  • 69 GeordieTwo // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:00 PM

If Iceland get a third we’re done. Can you believe it? I’m talking about Iceland getting a third!

  • 70 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:01 PM

  • 71 GeordieTwo // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:01 PM

Shocking. Giving up 2 against Iceland in a half. Roy oot!

  • 72 jonnyshaw85 // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:02 PM

I noticed it the last game Iceland played, it sounds class when they all shout ‘Oooh’….’Oooh’ and get faster. Imagine St James’ Park singing that but saying ‘Toon’….’Toon’ instead.

  • 80 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:10 PM

To be fair Iceland have actually not camped in their half. They are playing like they aren’t afraid of us at all. And rightly so. I see us doing well to equalise never mind win.

  • 92 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:15 PM

You’d think when we get possession and they have give players running back we would hoof it forward but no we have Cahill running sideways straight at the man he is going to pass to. Meanwhile, Roy is a firm believer of if it ain’t fixed, don’t break it.

Kind of suggests our better domestic sides rely more heavily on their overseas players than we even imagine. They perhaps make our lads look better than they actually are. How highly would Joe Hart be rated if he were in goal for Bournemouth, for example? Sterling? Kane? Smalling, etc? How good are these players in reality?

A substitute at this stage of the game. Just like Pardew really. Not a clue. Terrible squad selection, terrible team selection. Terrible tactics.

  • 135 ~Anita One Bites The Dust~ // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:43 PM

Well, Kane is rubbish. Many of us knew that from the start.

Rashford on… A BIT FCKING LATE.

  • 136 toonking // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:43 PM

sackroy.com then again we should need one because I expect this idiot gone.

Takes rashford but doesn’t use him and brings better performers of previous times like sterling and wilsire whilst great current performers like drinkwater and townsend are left home.

Doesn’t bother to bring on vardy when we 1-0 ahead against russia. This is perfect time a great counter attacking scorer would need to be on.

Makes 6 changes to a team that was looking great in the second half against wales and go on to get bordraw against slovakia.

Having brought 5 strikers to the team he puts wilshire on first and waits until the 60th minute before vardy comes on and the 85th minute before rashford comes on.

  • 137 Tsunki // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:44 PM

    Incredible.

WHY THE FCK DOES KANE TAKE ALL OUR FREE KICKS!

  • 139 AncientC // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:44 PM

Rashford on with 4 minutes to go. Hodgson really is from the school of Pardew/McClaren.

  • 140 ~Anita One Bites The Dust~ // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:44 PM

Ha Ha England are out. Not against France. No penalty heartache against Germany. No last minute sucker punch from Italy. Just outplayed by Iceland. That’s the country, of course – although the supermarket chain would probably have been able to field a team to beat us. See ya Roy.

  • 157 BandB // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:52 PM

    Well done Iceland.
A bit of British fair play there.

  • 158 Yo-yo // Jun 27, 2016 at 9:53 PM

    Iceland well deserved winners.

England are a better side, but they are badly managed and simply do not have any heart.

It was written all over the players faces during the National Anthem.

I never understood Hodgson being installed in the first place.

Harry Redknapp was doing great things with Tottenham at the time, meanwhile Hodgson had nosedived at Liverpool.

It is likely Redknapp was sacked by Tottenham for putting his neck on the line and saying he wanted the England job. What a shameful waste of time this has all been.
