Benitez Gets Tough With Top Players’ Agents

The agents of both Gini Wijnaldum and Moussa Sissoko have been in contact with the Newcastle manager about their players leaving the club this summer now we are relegated.

There’s nothing quite like top players leaving a club as soon as possible once we are in trouble and those two “stars”  didn’t exactly play their best for us last season – especially in away games when they simply disappeared far too many times.

Rafa Benitez – playing hardball with agents

But new manager Rafa Benitez does not want to lose his best players in what he sees as a single season down below and he expects them to help get Newcastle promoted back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Rafa has also shown them the way by agreeing to stay on board at the relegated club and he’s world-class in what he does – Gini and Moussa are not world-class players – although one of them thinks he is.

We’ll leave it to you to guess which one that is.

After all both Wijnaldum and Sissoko were regulars in the side who took the drop last season, so rather than just look for a quick exit when things get tough – maybe they should show some loyalty to the club?

Yes – we suppose that’s asking far too much of players who think they are too good to play in  England’s second division – it’s now an old-fashioned idea for sure – that players stick with their clubs through the bad times.

They just want to leave, even though Newcastle are willing to keep paying them their sky-high wages in the coming season.

However, Rafa Benitez is playing hardball with their agents and the Mirror reports he has told them to come back once they have an offer that meets Newcastle’s valuation of each of the players – which is said to be north of £20M.

There should also be a time-frame on that, because it will be difficult to get a new player in as a replacement if they are sold towards the end of this summer’s transfer window.

We had players seven years ago who couldn’t get out of the door quickly enough when we were relegated – and we suppose it’s to be expected we will have some this summer too.

Oh yeah totally agree the lack of goals over the season was a contributing factor as well as conceding goals and injuries being the other ones….but in those games where Darlow had to come in and looked shaky it cost us 6 points. Fine margins!

Having to play midfielders at full back and all the other weird formations because we never had a left winger cost us points and also meant our team was unbalanced so couldn’t create enough chances because every attack came down the right wing.

Dwight Gayle? Seriously?Esp For 10m for a player who is physically small, weak and couldn’t made it in to Palace first team and out of favor in an average team.I can’t believe if it happens!!
The guy shit and isn’t kind of striker we need.
That is just a complete waste of fund!!!

So its looking more like Gayle in Townsend out ?

So now we need a left winger AND a right winger now !

There’s a rumour going the rounds that Rafa is going to sell/swap Tim Krul with his old mate Aitor Karanka at Boro.
It would keep Tim and his new wife in the NE.

There are better options out there like Danny Ings or some other young strikers from Chelsea.
Rafa and Co must have been blind folded!?

We don’t know if Townsend will go, just because the clause is met doesn’t assure a sale, he may not fancy them, however it does make you feel that the Matt Ritchie link could be true

Looking forward to starting the season with Florian Thauvin, Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle up front. Those big, bad boys will strike terror into the hearts and minds of Championship defenders for sure…

I’ve never rated Gayle much, and at 10m – no thanks. There are better players out there for that kind of money. Looking at our attack, we really don’t need more strikers, most Championship managers would love to have Cisse, Mitrovic, Armstrong, Riviere, Perez etc in their ranks. However, some of those are prone (Cisse, Riviere), and the motivation of Mitrovic and Perez to play in second tier can be questioned. I would sell Cisse and Riviere, and bring in some fresh blood e.g. Callum Wilson or Andre Gray
