Former Newcastle Star Turns Down Benitez

There is news today that Rafa Benitez made an attempt to bring in former Newcastle midfielder Didi Hamann to Newcastle as his assistant and a replacement for the departed Fabbio Pecchia.

Did played for only one season for Newcastle from 1998-1999 (31 games – 5 goals) after he was signed from Bayern Munich but he then left rather abruptly to sign on at Liverpool. where he stayed until 2006.

Didi left months before Newcastle manager Ruud Gullit was fired and replaced by Sir Bobby Robson who had Newcastle in the Champions League for a couple of seasons over the next five years.

Hamann was famously brought on at half time in the Champions League final in 2005 by Rafa Benitez at half time against AC Milan, in an attacking move replacing right back Steve Finnan.

And Liverpool went on to win that game by penalties after Steven Gerrard led a fantastic comeback in the second half.

Didi Hamann revealed the interesting news when he was interviewed in The Times:

“Rafa Benítez asked me to be his assistant at Newcastle which I turned down with a heavy heart.”

It would certainly have been a very interesting appointment by Benitez to have the former German International central midfielder (59 caps – 5 goals) as assistant manager at Newcastle.

That’s the second time he’s cocked his snoot our way. In truth though, he has a pedigree we have rarely matched. He thinks he can do better for himself, and has, haha.

He he is giving the EPL a spray. Can’t say I disagree.

Dietmar Hamman says Premier League is a “fraud”, states it as the reason for England’s Euro 2016…

Jib Jibberish -a fool already -now a double fool in suggesting ducks are gamebirds – no they are not.
Really you should nor comment on things you know nothing about – well In suppose that would include football as well.
Game is defined in section 2 of the Game Act 1831 – includes the bird species which are gamebirds.
