Interesting point re the Euro final it’s being reffed by Mark Clattenburg – apparently he is now living in Gosforth.
    Decent ref I think.

I’m definitely in the ‘get rid for a crazy fee’ camp for Sissoko. As much as I’d like to see the players who got us into this mess get us out of it, we’re in this mess for a reason. Part of the problem was certain players just not giving a toss, and Sissoko was one of them.

He may have pace (when he can be bothered to use it – once or twice a game isn’t enough) and strength, but technical skill (which he doesn’t have too much of anyway) alone isn’t enough. You need a good attitude and commitment to the club, which he hasn’t got. Way too lazy for his own good, and totally the wrong attitude to succeed in the Championship. We need players who will run through brick walls to get us back up, especially on a Wednesday night, in the rain, at lower league stadiums. Can anyone really see Sissoko doing that? I’ll take the 20 million quid instead thanks.

Good signing, will bring some much needed experience to the back four, just a LB and CB to go and I’ll be happy with this window.

As for Clattenburg, he was born in Consett and it a Toon supporter, which is why he’s never reffed any of our competitive fixtures. Each ref has to declare their team to the FA and they’re prevented from taking charge of fixtures involving those teams for obvious reasons.

Clattenburg is a TOON fan along with the lad from Ashington – Michael Oliver who has also been at the Euros.

Two decent referees who cannot ref the TOON

Good signing, Rafa knows what he needs and he is doing that, now he has to bring CB and then wait, if Sissoko, Wijnaldum or Janmaat will go somewhere…

We need at least 3 cbs especially for the championship with 2 games a week. Saylor and colo gone also Williamson was sold so defence is the most worrying even if we get Hanley

Looks a good solid signing. He’ll bring invaluable experience to our back line. We mustn’t expect him to be the new messiah though, there are some rumours already circulating that he can be a very naughty boy.

Jamsha – is Yasin Ben El-Mhanni signed up or on trial.
Just been checking him out -see he has had trials with Chelsea and West Brom.
Loads of tricks/skill but dubious all round game.
    Nicknamed the non league Mahrez.

Don't know why but a Spanish signing just gets me excited. Who was our last Spanish player? Xisco? Let's hope Gamez doesn't flop…

Although Xisco was the last one to leave, i think Jose Enrique is probably the last spanish player we had who contributed in any meaningful way. I think he was signed around the same time as Xisco.

Jesus is clearly an excellent signing who’ll bring a little extra to the Toon.  I can see him being called into the treatment room, ‘laying on his hands’, and getting the lame to walk.  Perhaps Manuel should also hire Doc Eva as she could put the Chelskiesque ‘hex’ on our opponents.  Jesus and Eva, what a partnership.

This young yasir bin mhanni looks like he’s got exception ball control, but that doesn’t mean alot in the premiership, or championship. At this level every player has ball control.

Remy cabella could do keepie ups all day, but he couldn’t do anything in a game.
Also mhanni was given trails from West brom 6 months ago & didn’t sign.

Don’t judge him by these adverts where he’s doing skills with no defenders around him. A defender won’t give u time to do keepie ups.

I believe rafa wanted all his players signed up by today. Isn’t the team leaving for Ireland today.
There is no way rafa is going with only lascelle & mbemba for a full season of 46 games.
    I’m expecting late arrivals.

Sissoko put more effort into 90 minutes last night than he has done all season for us.
Obviously trying to impress potential clubs.

Sell this waste of space for as much as we can get then forget about the gutless bastard.

Our toon using stats to back up mousse being half decent is laughable as I actually watched the game and his passes where about 3-4 yards backwards or sideways. He made one good run in which he linked up with 2-3 players quickly so that is why I said he has a decent game as in the other games he done nothing at all. The one long pass he tried to switch the play got intercepted. Let’s just wait and see him at a top club which will happen and we can see who has the last laugh when he’s rotting on the bench.

Now that we have signed Stuart Findley and perhaps soon to be followed by Grant Hanley when was the last time we signed a Scottish player ?

In the old days (1960s) they came from over the border by the bus load.

I know mate, just I always get a bit greedy with signings, once one comes in you want others to come in straight after, like last week when we signed 3 in a space of couple of days.

    Nufc 83

You said he couldn’t pass, you didn’t say he can make passes if 3-4 yards but can’t make anything from more than that. I said yesterday that I’m no fan of sissoko but just think a lot of fans are taking out the frustrations of the fact that under Ashley we are utter shite and then take it out on those like gini and sissoko who want to further themselves at better clubs that are better run.

Make your mind up what you want though mate, you twisted when pardew was here and we were going long as did I, now you are twisting because a player you can’t stand made most of his passes in a 4 yard distance in your eyes. BTW his average was 8 yards with 16 yards the furthest pass. You can’t even bring yourself to say he played really well

Meanwhile a player you praised and said would go nowhere as Rafa resurrected his career has joined Pardew at palace…..that big club apparently. Sissoko is here and if he stays then good if he doesn’t then good if we get a replacement. This team already lacks pace and strength and for the championship we will need both, look on the bright side though.

The most apparent thing last night was that sissoko played well with plenty of movement around him in a team brimming with confidence…..all things our beloved nufc aren’t and haven’t been for some time

I don’t really like Sissoko but he’s a good player, best we have imo and hides a lot less than Gini

If he stays Rafa will certainly bring the best out of him if he goes Rafa will certainly milk the fee. He sees the Euros as a shop window to gain another club but with every good showing the club are adding to his asking price

    Whenever we had a decent team we had scotsmen;
Hughie Gallager, Bobby Mitchell, Ronnie Simpson, Jimmy scoular – before my time
but in my time: Bob Moncur, Dave Hilley, Jimmy Scott, Tommy Gibb, Jinky Jim Smith, Mark McGee, John MacNamee, John Henrie, Roy Aitken to name but a few

Anyway who was the last Scottish player to play regular for the TOON – not sure but must of been a few years ago – no doubt I am missing someone but could it be Roy Aitken

Might my my Kilt for the first home game of the season – Toon Army Tartan – kna – Northumberland Tartan – black ‘n’ white dogtooth
