Cisse Turned Down These Three Premier League Clubs

12:45 pm, Saturday, July 9th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 37 Comments

Papiss Cisse has left Newcastle United and it looks like he turned his back on three Premier League clubs – Hull City, Watford and West Brom – who were all reported to be keen to sign the 31 year-old striker.

But the 35 times capped Senegal International – who scored a phenomenal 16 goals for his country – opted for the huge wages in China, for a fee said to be around £5M.

That £5M can now be used by Rafa Benitez this summer to bring in more players to further strengthen the Newcastle squad for the upcoming Championship season.

Newcastle also  got his £45K/week wages off the wage bill and that will help control the running costs of the club this season.

Assuming we got £5M for Papiss, here’s the senior signings at the club so far this summer.

One last pay day springs to mind !!

  • 3 Belfast // Jul 9, 2016 at 12:57 PM

    5 million ferking hell haha

We should definitely offer all our duds to every single chinise club.

  • 4 scout // Jul 9, 2016 at 12:57 PM

    It was 2.5 million.

  • 5 scout // Jul 9, 2016 at 12:59 PM

When are these pesky bookies gonna give me a price on Gayle top scorer. Its annoying

  • 6 Our Toon // Jul 9, 2016 at 12:59 PM

8d like to keep tiote, only proper ball winner in midfield but would like shelvey to go he’s on a lot of money and his ability is nowhere near good enough

  • 7 SPRINGY // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM

    nufc 83
as i look at that list of names the only name i feel would be a miss in the champ would be tiote, all the players have talent and can play a bit when they can be arsed but tiote is the only i think has the toughness that maybe required at some stagein the season….but that would only be if he was fit.

  • 8 Our Toon // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM

Good luck to cisse thank you for the memories, his goals have saved us on 2 relegations

  • 9 Belfast // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:01 PM

Still a Brucey bonus scout lol

And his 45 grand a week off the books.

  • 10 Belfast // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:05 PM

Aye he did chip in with important goals that kept us up there’s no doubt about that, but his general all round play got ridiculously bad.

Doesn’t really bode well for Mitrovic though, considering Cisse was preferred to him at the back end of the season.

  • 11 scout // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:05 PM

Pretty sure cisse was born offside

  • 12 SPRINGY // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:06 PM

who’ll get the number 9 shirt??

  • 13 Our Toon // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:11 PM

Think that was more down to experience than anything else. Rafa did the same with Laschelles early on preferring Saylor

  • 14 scout // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:12 PM

Gayle number 9 have you seen him finish and he will take the pens .

  • 15 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:14 PM

I hope that we are still looking at getting another senior to replace Cisse !

  • 16 Nufc-83 // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:17 PM

I would also like to keep Tiote but think he will go. Our toon I don’t agree on Shelvey with movement in front of him he will be immense just needs to change his attitude as he was hiding last season at times. Hope Rafa can sort that out.

  • 17 JP...from The Rock // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:24 PM

Thanks Cisse for the memories in those anazing goals in your maiden season. Shame you couldn’t keep that consistency up.I want Shelvey to stay. He is talented and Rafa eill out him straight and get the best out of him. If all else fails then sell him on in January. The same goes with de Jong.

  • 18 SPRINGY // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:26 PM

hopefully rafa gets shelvey lean fit and mean,he’ll create a lot with his passing and would think with his shooting ability will chip in with a good few goals…..but only if he’s fitter and lighter, otherwise i’ll doubt he’ll play.

  • 19 lochinvar // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:26 PM

Mitro wants the number 9 as Shearer is his hero, possibly give it to him to make him live up to expectations and perhaps give Gayle another number .

Either way those two bearing down on goal with side riders Perze and Aarons should be good to watch – defenders will concede free kicks around the box to cope with that threat so who will take our free kicks ?

  • 20 Rotonda heights // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:29 PM

Now you’ve invented a new name, can I suggest a new personality to go with it. Or any personality, other than the boring monotonous drone you are.

  • 21 SPRINGY // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:29 PM

    where will perez play tho?

  • 22 lochinvar // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:30 PM

Scout @11 – Cisse born offside.

  • 23 Fostino // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:33 PM

Are goofy…good ..bigi. .vuckic ..Sammy..tiote…sammy…riverie..Thauvin. .janmaat on the plane to ireland this week??? All potential to be sold. That would be a big indicator

  • 24 JamesToon // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:40 PM

So with the transfers we’ve brought in with the ones we’ve shipped out, we haven’t actually spent a penny yet I’d say, cisse was £6.5m I heard.

With Isaac Hayden and Grant Hanley coming in I’d imagine they’d cost around £10m all together. Then that’s possibly our transfer business DONE depending on the only other sales are Riviere, Thauvin, Sissoko, Janmaat and Gouffran, and Rafa is happy with Dummett remaining as a left back competing with haidara. If Wijnaldum goes then we may well need a replacement for him, and I still think Charlie Taylor or Jonny Castro would be more reliable at left back than Dummett who should be moved to CB imo.

  • 25 JamesToon // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:43 PM

defo think if both Hayden and Hanley are bought in then Hayden will be used in the Tiote role.

    Jesús Mbemba Lascelles Dummett
    Hayden Shelvey
    Ritchie Wijnaldum Aarons

also give the no 9 shirt to Mitro, could be the making of him by giving him real responsibility

  • 26 SPRINGY // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:46 PM

i’d be surprised if cisse went for 6.5m tbh,and it looks like blackurn pushing for more coin for hanley,if hayden is permenant transfer i would expect hanley and hayden to be 15+m.

  • 27 SPRINGY // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:47 PM

closer to 15m shall i say

  • 28 Shadow_Shearer // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:50 PM

I doubt it very much 3 premier league clubs were after cisse, if that was the case he would have been sold alot earlier, & there would have been a bidding war.

As much as I am pleased to see the back of him, I won’t forget he gave us 2 good season. His first (half) season, his goals got us 5th place, & his third season saved us from relegation.

  • 29 welshgeordie9 // Jul 9, 2016 at 1:58 PM

What’s the latest news on Hayden, has he had the medical or haven’t he turned up yet.

  • 30 JamesToon // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:05 PM

People saying on Twitter he’s passed the medical

  • 31 jazzyp // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:06 PM

Cracking deal if we got 6.5 for Cisse, Especially on last seasons performance.
Still worried on the striker front tho. Mitro has a lot to prove, And will be worried for the lad if he produces another season like he did in the PL last term

  • 32 nut meg // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:06 PM

He’s passed his medical according to Lee Ryder.

  • 33 welshgeordie9 // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:07 PM

    Cheers both.

  • 34 welshgeordie9 // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:13 PM

I was wondering about that now cisse gone, better get another forward in asap, might be more, can’t see rivière staying and Armstrong will probably go back on loan, so that would leave, mitrovic and perez, it’s quick our strike force go from very strong to not so strong.

  • 35 welshgeordie9 // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:18 PM

I forgot Gayle to that list.

  • 36 jazzyp // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:23 PM

Mitrovic has a lot to prove after last season and if he fails in the championship, Then where does that leave him ??
Perez i feel is not a natural out and out forward.
Gayle will hopefully prove me wrong and score the goals we need.
And Arma if im honest would give him a shot at the championship .If he cannot do it at championship level then he will never succeed in the PL

  • 37 Nufc-83 // Jul 9, 2016 at 2:27 PM

Jazzy would you say Suarez is not an out and out forward as that’s pretty much exactly how Perez plays (obv not on the same level).
