Moussa Sissoko was easily France’s best player in the semi-finals and final of the European Championship and the Newcastle midfielder didn’t play too bad in the quarter finals either.
So an interesting question has been how much would Moussa be worth in the transfer market, if Paul Pogba is valued at £100M by Manchester United?
Moussa Sissoko in action for France
Moussa outclassed Paul in the final two games and Rafa Benitez today has put a £35M price tag on the Newcastle midfielder’s head.
That’s probably cheap at the price, given his excellent performances against high level opposition during the Euros.
Moussa has gone straight on holiday after a very grueling summer which he has put in for France.
That follows a not so grueling Premier League season playing for Newcastle, when he went missing in games far too many times.
Rafa has let Moussa and his agents know quite clearly that the Newcastle manager is in control of the situation.
The bottom line is that if a club doesn’t come in with a bid of £35M for the 26 year-old before early September – then he will remain a Newcastle player.
Since Moussa was responsible in some measure by his poor and less than committed performances in getting Newcastle relegated, Rafa is of the opinion he should now help the club get back into the Premier League at the first attempt – with some committed performances next season like he put in for France this summer.
It’s really as simple as that and nobody needs to feel sorry for Moussa Sissoko.
