Rafa Benitez has just announced that starting side for the friendly game against Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium tonight and local lad Adam Armstrong gets a start and he’s in the number 10 role.
There are 3 changes from the side that started at Bohemian in Dublin on Saturday and won 6-0.
Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Matz Sels; Daryl Janmaat, Chancel Mbemba, Jamaal Lascelles (c), Vurnon Anita; Jonjo Shelvey, Jack Colback; Matt Ritchie, Adam Armstrong, Rolando Aarons; Aleksandar Mitrovic
Subs: Karl Darlow, Jamie Sterry, Jesus Gamez, Paul Dummett, Isaac Hayden, Cheick Tiote, Henri Saivet, Yoan Gouffran, Ayoze Perez, Dwight Gayle
Vurnon Anita starts a left back which is interesting and it’s another strong side that starts tonight with 10 subs on the bench and Lascelles is again the captain.
Colback and Shelvey are the two holding midfielders.
Gini Wijnaldum arriving at the Keepmoat Stadium tonight
Gini Wijnaldum has trained with the Newcastle squad the last couple of days and he’s traveled to Doncaster, but not in the squad tonight.
The Chronicle is reporting negotiations with Liverpool are not as advanced as had been reported.
Let’s hope the lads can play well together tonight and maybe come away with a good win.
Update – just before kickoff both Florian Thauvin and Gini Wijnaldum – two wantaway players were added to the Newcastle bench – wonder what’s going on?
TEAM SHEET: Gini Wijnaldum and Florian Thauvin are added to tonight's bench for #NUFC.
