Newcastle Forward – It’s All A Learning Experience

Most Newcastle fans expected Newcastle to win against League Two side Doncaster Rovers last night at the Keepmoat Stadium, but the way it ended up we were a little lucky not to lose the game.

Newcastle were 2-0 down at half time after a poor first half performance, but things were much improved in the second half and 21 year-old newcomer Isaac Hayden scored his first goal for the club.

But it still took a 90th minute equalizer from our young Spanish U21 striker Ayoze Perez to prevent a defeat.

Ayoze Perez

Ayoze Perez scores the equalizer

It was a good opportunist goal from the 23 year-old former Tenerife player.

This is what Ayoze said after the game:

“We tried to get the win right until the end,” “It didn’t happen but we had a good comeback after the first half.”

“We learned some things, we changed some things and we got a draw. We showed good character in the second half to almost get the win.”

“At this time of year we are learning. We know that in the league it is going to be really tough if the other team get a goal before we do.”

“So we have to learn what to do in that situation and this type of game will have helped us.” “For me, it’s always nice to be on the score sheet. It’s nice to help the team get a draw like this.”

“It doesn’t matter if it is a friendly or not. Having the chance to score a goal is special for me and it is always a great feeling.”

“So I’m happy and now we have to keep working towards the new season.” “It is going well,”

“It is different but it is really good because the team are comfortable and getting fit. Everything is going in the right way.”

“The manager is always telling us to think about the ball.”  ‘”We will have the ball a lot during the season and we have to dominate the other teams.”

“So we have been working on that, and the tactics to help that. It feels like we are doing well.”

“It’s about keep learning, keep playing, keep working and get fitter. We will be ready to go against Fulham.”

Good words there from Ayoze and yes – it’s all about learning – especially in preseason.

But there are also some tough exams we will have to pass in the coming season if we are to get that promotion straight back to the Premier League.

Howay the Lads!!

Tudor – I agree zonal marking is rubbish. as you say man mark – if your man scores it is your fault.
    Introduces responsibility to the players.

Yeah Zonal never made much sense to me.
The opposition are all “look, Anits stands there all the time and covers that area. Lets put Lanky McTallerson there and hit high corners to him”

AM i only scared to see Dummet starting LB??? Hes a decent squad player because he can flex to cb if needed but not a starter. Still would rather see mbabu we need a real LB and CAM, ASAP.

Best 10(assuming the 35M man is gone)

Gamez—– Mbmemba —- Lac—– NEW LB
    Ritchie—– SHelvy —– Thauvan
    ————–Colt 45————–

You say we are weakening the team, you make it sound like a deliberate ploy. We don’t have to sell but when it is fairly obvious a player has said he’s not prepared to play in the Championship is it worth having them around. Relegation has weakened the team and Rafa is trying to compensate with the right type of players suited to the league. I’m asking you out of genuine interest, what type of players did you expect us to be signing?
