Sky Sports – Newcastle Agree £25M Fee For Wijnaldum

7:57 am, Thursday, July 21st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 14 Comments

The latest news this morning is that Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle have agreed a fee of around £25M with Liverpool for Wijnaldum, after talks are said to have gone on into the small hours of today between the clubs.

Newcastle played Wijnaldum last night for 11 minutes in the 2-2 draw at Doncaster and that could be the last time Gini plays for Newcastle, if the news this morning is accurate, which it appears to be.

It looks like it’s a straight cash deal and the structure of the payment – Newcastle want all £25M up front – is also worked out, with Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reporting Gini will travel to Liverpool today for his medical.

    Lot of money…

This was what Ash always had his blueprint written up for.

Now will this money be spent or is it to replace the money already spent ?

It looks like Leiva and Flanagan didn’t fancy the Championship (or Tyneside)

Ed skysports say its £25m and you say its 25m euros. Confusing, I guess Skysports are correct.

Ed, why have you got euros but sky have pounds. When I first seen your headline I thought wtf, that’s not much like.

£25m is a decent amount we are getting for a player who’s heart clearly doesn’t want to be here and has had one season in the prem.

Doesn’t look AS decent when mane who scored a similar amount cost £9m more.

Good luck to the lad as I think he’s a decent player who lost his way under mcwally.

Just hope sissoko goes too. I’d prefer him gone more than gini tbh. Slutting himself around all the time really is doing my head in.

It was probably too much to hope that Wini would be prepared to play in the Championship.
Hopefully Klopp can get more from this talented player than McClaren did, especially away from home.
Happy with the fee. Sad it wasn’t Sissoko.

Wonder if Lucas going off for Liverpool with a hamstring injury yesterday had anything to do with this speeding up overnight

Worry not. It’s a knocking bet Sissoko will be gone too of course. Fantastic profit will be made for a guy who in my opinion is about to hoodwink someone into paying vast amounts more than he will turn out to be worth.

Rafa song definitely needs tweaking now.

As long as we reinvest the money then we will be fine – another attacking midfielder or 2, ideally a wide player to allow Perez or Gayle to be the 10, brought in and we will be ok.

As Doncaster showed, we’ll need real players to get outof the championship. Our two stand outs are leaving, we’ll need to replace them, never mind about profits, which yous keep mentioning. We need to buy a 20 mill player…

Ed, the spurs performance had Sissoko in a starring role, so we’re weaker now, you could say.

Shelvey we’re stuck with, bench him Rafa

So now, with gini gone, and socks inevitably following….. we need a starting LB, a creative AM and possibly another ST

Why not ‘Chancel Mbemba, Ritchie and Gayle, Shelvey and Perez…Raaafa…’

Need to sell sissoko quick for £35m and reinvest in the following:

    Hughes -£7-9m
    Adams -£2m
    Moses – £5m
    Striker -£10-15m

Still profit for fat man and then more deadwood to go too.

Wouldn’t mind Will Hughes from derby as a replacement
