Half Time – Lokeren 0 Newcastle 3 – Here Are The Goals – Video

4:32 pm, Saturday, July 23rd, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 67 Comments

Newcastle are 3-0 up at half time against Loverken this afternoon and there are some good goals – two from Perez and one from Daryl Janmaat who is playing on the right wing – his new position?

Fantastic goal from Perez to put us 3-0 up – the lad looks sharp today.

Shelvey has made it 4-0 with a strike that was deflected into the goal after just coming on as a substitute in the second half – the video is attached.

Goals came after 13, 26, 38 and 48 minutes.

This is from the Newcastle United twitter account.

    BandB IN!

Is there a stream for this?

  • 4 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:35 PM

Am not sure either of them have a future with us though mate. Its interesting Janmatt is playing there but more so that Sterry is getting a chance at RB imo could see him used in rotation for this coming season

Anita seems to be getting a game at LB which worries me as much as Dummett getting game time there. A fit Haidara or a new LB brought in is needed soon

  • 5 clinath@ed // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:36 PM

Good pressing for the first goal, and great movement by Gayle (I think) leading to the 3rd

  • 6 firebug666 // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:36 PM

    Shelvey makes it 4-0

  • 7 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:37 PM

    Perez off Mitro on
    Hayden off shelvey on
    Anita off Gamez on

  • 8 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:37 PM

Saying that Gamez seems to be playing LB now?

  • 9 Rafa Revolution // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:37 PM

    Crikery Shelvey scores

  • 10 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:38 PM

Would really like a new specialist LB and put Dummet as fourth choice CB.

  • 11 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:41 PM

I am not keem on Anita at LB either. I dont get worried when Dummet plays there, though. He is nore than solid defensively. Could be better going forward but he does the primary job of a FB well, imo. I do agree with most, though, that we need to sign a starting LB. Gamez can play both sides, but he is right footed.

  • 12 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:42 PM

Its our biggest weakness imo though if we could have Gamez on the left and Janmatt on the right Id happily have that

Bring in that Rico Henry to play understudy and develop as well so in 2 years hes available to take over

  • 13 croftus5678 // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:43 PM

    @10 jail

i def agree on dummett being a cb and not a lb as imo we only have hairdryer who’s still very much learning and jesus who’s more suited to rb than lb.

  • 14 Rafa Revolution // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:44 PM

    N’zogbia scores for Scumderland

  • 15 Spoof // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:44 PM

A fit Haidara would be sold by Rafa as soon as possible, Rafa has never and I very much doubt that he will ever entertain a full back who cannot defend, and Haidara’s defending is not good, first opportunity for Rafa to get rid he will take, why do you think he has bought Gamez, answer is he can defend so good by Janmaat as a FB, and why has he bought a right back and not a left back, quite easy to answer, Dummett can defend.

  • 16 firebug666 // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:45 PM

If Lokeren could finish the scores would be much closer mind. two clear chances wasted in the last few minutes.

  • 18 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:46 PM

I think Gámez has been brought in as utility cover, I’ve given up on Haidara which is a shame as that GBH he suffered seemed to turn him in to a different player.

  • 19 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:48 PM

    Insomnia at the mackems?

  • 21 Hail Wor Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:49 PM

Not sure that can be called a Shelvey goal. Was heading into orbit before it took that deflection.

In fairness Haidara was shite before the McMana whats his name challenge.

  • 24 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:51 PM

Well Janmatt is still here mate so sell at first opportunity mustnt be his first priority. As for Gamez he can play either side, experienced, available, a leader and happy to come join him Id imagine that all had an impact on why he is here with us

Also Dummett cant play LB, he can defend like a CB but thats about it

  • 25 Very Terry // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:51 PM

  • 26 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:52 PM

Haidara was not shite before that challenge mate

  • 27 croftus5678 // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:53 PM

that el-mhanni is some bloody player ! what a star he’s gonna be.

  • 28 Ron Knee // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:54 PM

    We’re two up against Corby.

  • 29 JDdubai // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:55 PM

Really hope we are looking for young english talent to bring in this season. Lee cook, Demarai Gray, Sam Byram all went in the last 12 months for not a lot of money, these types are the ones we should look to, similar to the side Spurs are building. Dele Alli as well obvs.

Plenty out there, just need to take a calculated risk. Rico Henry for a start, there must be a young quick english winger out there too, similar to Aarons but hopefully made of stronger stuff.

  • 30 Hail Wor Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:57 PM

Dummet has demonstrated he can play as a defensive LB, don’t know where you were last season. Probably our most consistent defender last time out.

Definitely don’t recall any gaping gaps left like Janmaat, nor any howlers like Mbemba, nor any red cards like Lascelles, nor being easily shrugged off or outpaced like Colo. Remember Zaha being the only player to really definitively give him the run around in 1 of the matches against Palace.

Depends what you want from a FB. Rafa I think will like Dummet and will try to help him improve on the ball.

  • 31 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 4:59 PM

I thought he looked really promising.

  • 32 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:02 PM

Dummett played CB at LB, he can play with the game ahead of him but thats. People ignored our left side all season because it offered nothing

Our right side was not the problem last season our left side was

  • 33 Spoof // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:02 PM

Haidara was who I mentioned as being sell as quick as poss, but have you noticed that Janmaat is playing as a right sided midfielder, could he convert there and be a real asset, yes I think he possibly could with the reasoning being that although a shit defender he could offer support to the right back and he does have a decent cross on him, he does for a potential winger lack pace but so did David Beckham, but quality of delivery especially from a deeper angle can cause problems, as a defender Janmaat has no future based on Rafa’s keep it tight and compact set up, further up the pitch then who knows.

  • 34 Ron Knee // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:03 PM

So is that complete squad rotation?

  • 35 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:03 PM

He managed only 23 games last season, he looks lost as soon as he steps over the halfway line and he couldn’t make the Wales squad and there’s only 29 Welsh footballers. To say he was our best defender is like saying Allardyce is the best English manager.

  • 36 South_Wales_Geordie // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:04 PM

Sterry has come from nowhere, which is fantastic for us. I know he had a few cameo sub appearances at the back end of laat season but I thought that was purely down to the amount of injuries we sustained.

I do not rate Dummett at all as a full back, for me he is CB back up at best. & with Haidara more fragile than paper, LB cover does worry me, although I do think Anita will make a neat little full back for this season only.

  • 37 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:08 PM

Dummet is better as CB. No one really argues against that. All i am saying is that, if he plays a few games at LB, there is no need to get all worried about it. It weakens our left side going forward, but keeps it more or less locked up tight defensively.

  • 38 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:08 PM

So Janmatt can convert to a winger but a younger Haidara cant? The critisim u have of one is the same as the other. Rafa improves players defensively

Janmatt and Haidara could have a future with Rafa coaching them

As for Janmatt playing winger today hes switched back to RB now, didnt even last a full game there not sure thats a glowing reference for Rafa transforming him

  • 39 croftus5678 // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:08 PM

lol goal from corner taker for u21’s

just hate we do a harry kane there though and get the big lad who’s good with his head to take the corners.

  • 40 Hail Wor Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:08 PM

I’d prefer a Robertson type at LB and Dummet to compete for a CB spot, but Dummet at LB is solid enough.

I’d love for us to capitalise on Hull’s current state of chaos, undoubted low morale amongst the players, put in a £10m bid for Robertson. Think he’d do a Ritchie and drop a division with eyes on the longer term. Hull almost certainties to be relegated given their current state.

  • 41 Spoof // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:10 PM

Where were we torn apart on the occasions that we were, it wasn’t with Dummett mate it was with Janmaat, it was with Janmaat to such an extent that Lascelles tore strips off him in the dressing to such an extent that Janmaat lost his rag punched a wall or a door or something and broke his fingers, and what did Rafa do when this was going on, the answer is f all because he knew that Lascelles was right and justified in slating Janmaat, the lad just cannot defend !

  • 42 croftus5678 // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:10 PM

hairdryers very underated in defence imo.

yes he was very shakey for a while after his leg brek in not going in for anything but he last few games watch him he’s done great in winning the ball of the wingr and intercepting things ! again like almost all out players though not great in the air.

  • 43 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:11 PM

Aye Sterry could be a find apparently highly rated within the club, I expect this is Rafa evaluating him to see if its a loan or a rotation player for the coming season.

I will be amazed and disappointed if we dont bring in an actual LB this window. I dont rate Anita at all he’d be out the door if it was my choice

  • 44 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:11 PM

He has played most of the game as a winger. I don’t see how pushing him back to RB to try out another player there is an automatic thumbs down.

  • 45 Hail Wor Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:11 PM

    Haiadara is garbage.

Not a single memorable moment from him for all his supposed offensive prowess. No end product and a useless defender. Only got worse since he’s been on and off the treatment table with regularity.

    I’d get rid asap.

  • 46 JDdubai // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:13 PM

Dummett is a squad player, happy to be in the squad, doesnt make drama in public if he isnt in the side.

All teams need these kinds of players to cover, especially given our injury record. Bonus that he can cover 2 positions as well.

Should he be a first choice starter, no. But he will be valuable this season once we get to October and half the team is injured.

  • 47 Spoof // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:13 PM

Haidara switch to a winger, sorry mate but I don’t recall saying that he couldn’t, why not he has all the attributes with the bonus that he has a bit more pace than Janmaat.

Gamez and Miric both went at it after a foul and both are dismissed. It’ll finish 10 a side! #nufc

  • 52 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:16 PM

    According to who?

Every report I read said Janmatt was furious with himself after hurting his groin and letting the team down that he took it out on a wall, not heard anything about Lascelles saying anything to him…also even if he did it was one mistake

Also teams openly ignored our left hand side and focused solely on the right of course its going to crumble eventually

  • 53 Rafa Revolution // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:16 PM

    Gamez sent off for what?

  • 54 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:16 PM

Could say the same about SDJ and he isn’t Garbage, just done two weeks on a Dutch rig and an Ajax ST holder easy raving about him.

  • 59 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:20 PM

Game over. 0-4 good win. Apparently Gamez was fouled, and he and thier player reacted badly, and both got sent off. Handbags at 10 paces

  • 60 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:20 PM

    Fully agree with that 100%

  • 61 Hail Wor Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:21 PM

Nah, SDJ has proven ability at CL level, it’s getting him out there that’s the problem. Even in his few appearances for us, everybody noticed his presence and impact on team cohesion.

Haidara done pretty much nothing in his career so far and should count himself lucky that he’s still here.

  • 62 WWSBRD // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:22 PM

    100% agree with that

  • 63 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:22 PM

We strolled Bohemian and this one yet Doncaster treat it like a cup final. Excellent learning process as around 20 teams next year will treat us like a cup final.

  • 64 Sazzer // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:22 PM

Mitrovic, Hanley, Tiote, Jamaat and Shelvey will be chasing Jesus in the red card league this season.

  • 65 Spoof // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:24 PM

I didn’t say that Rafa would transform him, all I done was offer a possibility, the same possibility that you have offered for Haidara, but my gut instinct is that with how Rafa sets his sides up I just cannot see Rafa having either of them as his first choice full back, for me and how I read Rafa and yes I could be totally wrong but for me I expect doggid stick in the mud defend for your life full backs rather than the more eye catching and flambouyant attack minded full back like Janmaat and Haidara, but time will tell, but I do expect our starting full backs to be Gamez and Dummett as they have the Rafa philosophy written all over them.

  • 66 Hail Wor Ashley // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:26 PM

SDJ I’d shift on if possible too anyway. Become clear his injury problems are chronic, his body failing him every which way. His unfortunate early retirement to come hopefully won’t be before some Dutch club is daft enough to buy him off us.

  • 67 Spoof // Jul 23, 2016 at 5:30 PM

god no, I hate that, but in pre-season it is worth trying out and if they can’t offer anything then get rid, don’t forget that supermac started as a left back and look at what happened to him when he moved up the pitch, same with Steve Howey, KK was told he was a CF but KK moved him to CB and he ended up playing for England, so it can happen.
