Newcastle had about five wantaway players at the start of the summer and now we have only three left.
Moussa Sissoko, Andros Townsend, Gini Wijnaldum, Florian Thauvin and Daryl Janmaat all wanted to leave the club at the start of the summer – and even then we thought that Andros would come out and say he would stay on Tyneside.
But he was the first out of the door in June and he has now been followed by Gini Wijnaldum who even apologized to Newcastle fans after he left for Liverpool for £25M.
Paul Pogba to Moussa Sissoko
Listen – I’m worth £100M and you’re not – don’t you understand?
So we got a good £38M for the two of them and Rafa Benitez and Newcastle are now adamant that Moussa Sissoko is going nowhere for less than £35M.
That new Premier League deal is inflating prices in the transfer market big time – and then we have non Premier League clubs like Juventus paying out £78M for Argentine and Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain – meeting the buyout clause in his contract.
Since he signed on at Napoli from Real Madrid for just £34M in the summer of 2013, two months after Rafa Benitez had become the new Napoli manager, that’s a huge increase and profit of around £44M for Napoli in a short three years.
The 28 year-old also scored 91 goals in 146 appearances for Napoli over that time – so let’s say he was a good buy.
🙂
And that’s a deal between two Italian clubs and we are not even going to mention the ridiculous £100M that Manchester United seem willing to pay out to Juventus for 23 year-old Paul Pogba, who had only an average Euro tournament for France in the summer.
At least Paul Scholes has shown his sanity over the weekend by saying that Paul is worth nowhere near that amount – good for him.
Rafa Benitez has again put out the word on what Newcastle’s thinking is in keeping the remaining high profile players at the club.
He was asked again over the weekend if Sissoko would be sold:
“You know we don’t talk about our business.” “But that is football and we have a good squad and a lot of expectations. We cannot control that.”
“We still have to keep doing our job.” “If someone comes with a right offer, we have to listen.” “But we don’t have to sell. We will try to keep a strong squad.”
“Some players, maybe, will be waiting for a big offer coming from a top side in the Premier League or in Europe, but if they have to stay, they have to stay. That’s it.”
“They will be disappointed, but we are disappointed because we are in the Championship.”
“We’ll see how we are for tomorrow night’s friendly,” “The main thing is to see the team improving physically, tactically and technically.”
Real Madrid, Everton, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are four clubs said to be interested in signing Moussa Sissoko, who will report back to Newcastle next Monday from his summer break after starring for France in the Euros in both the semi-final and final.
We now feel almost certain now that if Moussa is allowed to leave Newcastle this summer we will get a massive deal for him.
What do you think?

Jail, I guess you hated Ben Arfa then, oh and Laurent Robert, Ginola? Yes, they do turn up when they want but if they do turn up you get something from the game. No doubt you would want his place taken by someone like Colback, who always (well 75% of the time) puts in effort? Problem is that Colback could put in 100% effort every week sun rain or snow but he will never win you the game.
Spoof

Comment #2I’m starting to get sick of hearing this we don’t have to sell malarkey, for us to then just do exactly that and sell them, Townsend, Sissoko and Gini were arguably our best 3 player’s, two gone with just one to go, and still we are getting this we don’t have to sell malarkey Ra rammed down our throats, if we don’t have to sell then don’t but stop saying you don’t have to but then do !

Why would I hate them. I was at the Marseille game when 50K screamed at Robert to pull his finger out. Ginolas brilliance far outweighed his laziness and HBA for whatever reason failed to fully deliver here. Having a very good Wijnaldum for ten games a season will not make up for playing with ten men for the other 36.

Comment #5Disappointed to see Gini leave, but understandable he wants to play at a higher level. Whilst he was hot and cold last season he is at least a genuine class act. Considering he was out of position, new to the league and in a struggling team, 11 goals and 5 assists is a very impressive return. Wish him all the best at Liverpool.

Comment #6I don’t feel anything is being rammed down our throats – Rafa was asked about Sissoko and gave as informative answer as he could.
Townsend had a release clause – he activated it – Wijnaldum had a high price placed on him – it was met.Nothing has been done in an underhand way.
It’s the way business is done in the football world – Juventus must have been amazed when the Paul Pogba “get lost” price tag was met.
