Since Newcastle have to replace Gini Wijnaldum and probably also Moussa Sissoko this summer, we will be linked with a number of midfielders for the rest of the transfer window, which still has five weeks and one day to run.
talkSPORT is reporting today that Newcastle are one of the clubs interested in Wolves midfielder Conor Coady, who was signed last summer from Huddersfield for £2M, and he generally plays in defensive midfield.
Conor Coady – Wolves midfielder available
Last season the 23 year-old played 39 games for Wolves and he’s been capped at the England youth level from U-16 through U-20.
The report is that Wolves new owners – the Chinese conglomerate Fosun International – want to bring in some new players like Benfica’s 22 year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder Anderson Talisca for £20M, although Liverpool are also after the 6ft 3ins player.
It seems that Conor is available to leave Molineux this summer.
The two other clubs said to be interested in the 6ft 1ins tall midfielder are Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday.
Conor was born in St. Helens and is a Liverpool supporter and came through the Liverpool Academy.
He went on loan to Sheffield United for the 2013-2014 season and he played 50 games for the Blades with 6 goals in that season.
Conor finally left Liverpool in the summer of 2014 at age 21 and signed on for Championship side Huddersfield Town on a three-year deal for a fee believed to be around £500K and made his debut against Bournemouth that August.
Conor ended up playing 48 games with 3 goals and 3 assists before leaving the Terriers last summer for Wolves.
We think Rafa Benitez is on the lookout for good young players who he can bring on at Newcastle, maybe Conor will be one of them?
And with defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote being reported about to leave Newcastle for UAE Pro League club, Al Jazira, maybe Rafa is looking for a young replacement for Cheick?
What do you think?
