Football Italia are reporting today there are several Italian news outlets saying that Newcastle and Lazio have finally agreed terms for Florian Thauvin to join Lazio, after Newcastle turned down a bid from the Italian club only last Thursday.
The deal for Thauvin has been held up until Italian International winger Antonio Candreva finalizes his move out of the club and the reports coming from Italy is that he is expected to sign for Inter-Milan today.
Florian Thauvin – deal agreed to Lazio?
Thauvin and Tiote were the only two outfield players who didn’t get a game yesterday and were unused subs in the 3-2 win over Vitesse.
And it’s interesting that Newcastle turned down bids for both players last Thursday.
The deal for the Frecnh U-21 International is a season long loan with the transfer becoming automatic once Thauvin has played a certain number of games for the Italian club.
If the financials have indeed been agreed, then that means the loan fee and the transfer fee have been agreed between the two clubs.
The terms of the deal that Newcastle turned down last Thursday were thought to be a loan fee of at least £1M and the transfer fee was set at around £9M which will be triggered if he plays a certain number of games.
So presumably the terms are now better than that from a Newcastle perspective and we will get more than 10M for him now. after paying £13M a year ago when we bought him from Marseille.
If all this is true then Thauvin’s next move will be to have a medical.
Last Friday there was news that Thauvin’s agent Fabrizio Ferrari had arrived in Newcastle in a bid to close a deal to have his client move to Italian club Lazio, hopefully by the end of this coming weekend.
With this news today coming out of Italy that may even be possible.
