Diame Traveling To Newcastle For Medical Today

8:20 am, Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 41 Comments

Sky Sports are reporting that Hull midfielder Mohamed Diame is traveling to Newcastle today and set to undergo his medical after he failed to agree a new deal with the Tigers yesterday.

Diame is another player willing to drop down a division to play in the Championship for Newcastle and for manager Rafa Benitez, after the club have offered him a bumper contract to move to Tyneside.

mo diame 54

Mo Diame – soon to be a Newcastle player?

This is excellent news because it shows that terms have already been agreed with Newcastle and the slight doubt over whether he would accept the new deal from Hull City has been cleared up – he did turn it down.

And we knew Newcastle would have to move quickly as other clubs will have been alerted to the release clause in Diame’s contract and could come after him.

This would be little short of a coup if Newcastle can wrap this deal up – and if all goes well the announcement of Mo signing for Newcastle could come as early as tomorrow.

So the next thing we want to hear is that Ciaran Clark is also traveling to Newcastle for his medical and we could have both of these players signed up within a day or so.

Newcastle, to their credit, seem to be moving very quickly to get these two deals completed early this week – and they will be two good signings before we start the Championship season on Friday at Fulham.

A win in that game will be a great way to start the season.

    BandB IN!

  • 2 Budge123 // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:22 AM

    Should be a great signing.
Just what the midfield is missing.

  • 3 Budge123 // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:23 AM

Jail I keep reading BandB In – apologies if it’s obvious but what does it mean?

  • 4 posada // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:24 AM

Concerned about the signing of Clark.
Not sure how that adds up.
Do hope that Rafa is personally sanctioning these moves as you never know with NUFC.

BandB is a much loved poster who has stopped posting of late, just letting her know she is missed.

  • 6 Jail for Ashley // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:27 AM

If we get that young LB we might not need him. But I’m not complaining at any signings after the way we’ve survived with a threadbare team for the last 8 years.

Don’t be confused with Blackley and Brownlie though, he’s one to watch…

  • 8 Average_Contents // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:33 AM

Some cracking goals scored last time we were in the championship. Let’s hope we get a repeat.

  • 9 martoon // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:33 AM

Jail – I know your predictions the other day were a bit tongue in cheek but I’ve recorded them anyway and you can still change them if you want to and also you’re still missing a player of the season.

  • 10 Kabul Fish // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:35 AM

The more signings the better – trust in Rafa. If they can’t cut it he wont play them I suppose, but we need numbers this season….

Think Diame will be a good signing and hopefully the end to the Sissoko saga.

Jail – always enjoyed reading BandB’s comments. Fair play mate….

  • 11 Average_Contents // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:36 AM

I think this guy (if we get him) and Ritchie will be the standouts for us this season.

The best bit of business for me though has to be rafa.

What a difference it makes to the way you feel about the club because someone who knows what their doing is in charge.

Hope we smash it lads n lasses

  • 12 expatmag // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:36 AM

And be very wary of Jail for Ashley…..a nasty piece of work…

  • 13 El Sleeve // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:40 AM

Thought Borthwick-J was a stand out from last season for Man U. Would be a great signing, now and for the future.

Knew Mourinho would just buy another team. I really don’t rate him.

Diame, C B-J, Knockaert and we’re eating to go. Roll on Friday!!

  • 14 Kabul Fish // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:42 AM

AC – definitely agree. I wanted to put Diame as my player of the season and we don’t even have him yet lol.

Having Rafa gives us a new hope and new respectability. It’s like we aint messing around anymore….

Don’t listen to anyone deported for stealing loaves of bread.

  • 16 Budge123 // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:43 AM

Most on here (including me ) are predicting us to win the Championship. Who do we see as nearest rivals? I’d say Derby who must improve under Pearson?

  • 17 Mister Tuff // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:45 AM

not just loaves of bread – don’t forget the Vice Squad raid and his porn stash being discovered.

  • 18 WLtoon // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:48 AM

I hope the signing of Clarke, if we get him, does,nt mean Mbemba is going to be sold, Clarke is,nt in the same class. Diame will be a great addition though

  • 19 Mister Tuff // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:50 AM

Jib Jibberish – you have made yet another gaffe or deliberate insertion of false info into one of your posts.
Your tale about Ruiz tacking the mickey out of Benny.
Nowhere at all does Benny being 2.5 kilos overweight now feature in this story.

He was supposed to be this amount overweight when he was at SJP -nothing to do with his current situation.
I’ve noticed you like to put the boot in on Benny when you can.

  • 20 Kabul Fish // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:53 AM

Budge – I will go with the obvious and say Brighton under Chris H or Norwich (especially if they get McCormak).

  • 21 Budge123 // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:54 AM

    Thanks for the warning expat.
I’ll keep my eyes open! ?

  • 22 WLtoon // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:54 AM

The feel good factor is back for sure , Thanks to Rafa we are even taking players from the prem.
I agree with Budge, Derby under Pearson will be very hard to beat.

  • 23 Kabul Fish // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:58 AM

Just hope we don’t give Derby lots of points again!

  • 24 Rotonda heights // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:58 AM

quite amusing what a palace fan said on speculation of them signing sissoko:-

”How about signing a pacy goalscorer in the same mould as Berahino. I tell you what, there is one just signed for Newcastle for less than half the price of the Baggies man! Doh…”

  • 25 Ron Knee // Aug 2, 2016 at 8:58 AM

How do you pronounce ‘Ciaran’, by the way?

  • 26 Jail for Ashley // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:01 AM

Are you implying that our winning every game 3-0 except for the seven we only win 3-1 is a tad over optimistic 😮

  • 27 Rotonda heights // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:03 AM

” So the next thing we want to hear is that Ciaran Clark is also travelling to Newcastle for his medical ”

Not sure everyone’s happy about this one at all Ed. All the other signings yes.

  • 28 Jail for Ashley // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:03 AM

I might revise it if we don’t sign a proven GS.

  • 29 Jail for Ashley // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:04 AM

    Ron Knee,
    With a K, like Keeran.

  • 30 expatmag // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:04 AM

Dont listen to them mate. Jail for Ashley is really MRS TUFF in real life and us totally subservient to him.

Mr. TUFF is a life long Sunderland supporter and his uncle Charlie was captain in the 1960s

Old Tuff still rabbits on about hus hero, Ian Porterfield scoring the winning goal in the 1973 cup final.

  • 31 El Sleeve // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:04 AM

    Ciaran = Keiron

  • 32 Ron Knee // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:05 AM

    Thanks, chaps!

  • 33 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:09 AM

According to one poster last night, I believe the correct pronounciation of Ciaran Clarke is “Paulo Maldini” 😀

  • 34 Ron Knee // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:14 AM

I’ll believe that when I see it!

  • 35 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:16 AM

all great and wonderful where is our creative midfielder/winger?

  • 36 Spoof // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:23 AM

If we get Borthwick-Johnson from Manure, which I doubt due to how he was first choice until an injury disrupted his progress and being only 19 year old I would imagine that Manure would only allow him to leave on loan and I get the distinct impression that Rafa doesn’t want to do loans as he seems determined to build for the future, but if for some reason Jose doesn’t rate him and does allow him a permanent move then that would leave us with 3 specialist left backs which is one too many, so who would go, Dummett or Haidara, hopefully it would be Haidara as he is always injured and I doubt that Rafa would rate Haidara anyway due to him being very attack minded, Rafa does seem to prefer his fullbacks to be good defenders first and useful at attacking second, so could it be B-J in for Haidara, it would be a great bit of business if we could pull it off.

  • 37 martoon // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:25 AM

    Jail @26 – Me, doubt you – never! 🙂
You still need a player of the season – what about Gouffran? :0

  • 38 Laurent Robert 32 // Aug 2, 2016 at 9:27 AM

It’s maybe not the worst thing that people generally don’t seem so keen on Clark as his stock is lowered so much that the surprise of good form could well be a big plus.

Rafa improved the form of our players steadily once he came in, Sissoko included (and he moved him centrally), so hopefully the same could happen with Clark.

  • 39 Mackems are from MORDOR! // Aug 2, 2016 at 10:50 AM

What the hell Jail… B&B IN!!!

  • 40 duncandisorderly // Aug 2, 2016 at 12:01 PM

Do we think that these release clauses only activated on 1st August – seems odd otherwise to have 2 in one day

  • 41 nufc 11 // Aug 2, 2016 at 1:47 PM

Why Clark? Bcoz he is cheap dosent mean anything to me has a shade of the Titus Shamble about Him. Brilliant and idioitic at the same time. FFS we just got rid of Coco the Clown. Shane Duffy, Paddy McNair or Richard Keogh are no brainers compared to Clark hope im wrong and rafa can sort him out. The biggest loser in all this is KEVIN MBABU if ever a time to blood him its this season. Really dont think rafa has seen enough of him to make an informed decision on his future he has the making of a top top player.
