Fantastic Interview With Rafa Before Today’s Game – Video

12:53 pm, Friday, August 5th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 27 Comments

Here’s former Blackpool manager Ian Holloway in a very good 18 minute Sky Sports interview with Rafa Benitez before today’s vital game tonight against Fulham.

Ian asks Rafa some really good questions that only another manager would ask – it’s very good.

    From last thread

Didn’t realise he had a near 1 in 3 ratio. How anyone can say he was shite is beyond me.

Good player, great captain and an excellent bloke. Gave his all for us and was duly sh1t on for speaking out along with a few others.

I knew you’d of figured it out but just thought I’d give a little explanation of what they’d try and do.

    No worries.

sweendog, some interesting comments about rafa’s flexibility in terms of set up of team. interestingly he didn’t mention 4231 first. also I have heard how clever Italian teams and managers are so it was interesting to hear him allude to that. he comes across as just a lovely guy who loves coaching teams and players. Holloway is a top man aswell and its a good piece.

My dad is no fool, but he is 70 y.o. tomorow, and is not as tech savvy as your average person is these days. It’s a good job I was there in this case. I doubt he would have given them any details, but not everyone is quick on the uptake and i xan imagine quite a few pensioners getting stung by these cnuts.

So Fulham beat palace a couple days ago. Not that it’s that hard, but still. Thought PL was supposedly way ahead? Really, in my mind, the bottom ten of the PL would make a very competitive league vs the top ten of the championship.

    Hope I’m wrong.

PS. Did anyone not predict 1st place?

I think we’ll be at Wembley this year!!

    Playoffs, which we’ll win.

    Cyprus, I predicted 4th.

Superb interview that. Really enjoyed it. Holloway as a manager is asking Rafa different questions to the norm too. Really great.

    Great news.

Tremendous interview with Holloway. Like Benitez even more after watching it.
Benitez – there is no doubt knows what he is doing.
Wants another striker at least -due to lack of experience.
If more leave he wants replacements..
    Great interview.

    Any stream/links for todays match?

  • 17 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Aug 5, 2016 at 2:12 PM

Szarka (and others looking for a stream)

If you have a device that can download Mobdro, then you should be able to stream sky sports 1 through that. Itll also be on the likes of vipbox, firstrow sport, and all the other known streaming sites. Shouldnt be too hard to find one with it being on sky.

Nice one Ian Holloway. Was transfixed watching this. I know we haven’t played a proper competitive game yet, but it’s just wonderful after recent seasons to feel I support a football club going places, and with manager who will try to make it happen in such a positive way. Whose idea was it to go after Rafa in the first place?

  • 19 Mister Tuff // Aug 5, 2016 at 2:13 PM

Open interview – no bloody PR people vetting questions and jumping in blocking answers.

  • 20 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 5, 2016 at 2:17 PM

what are the odds of us smashing fulham today, then going on to lose 100 points, >100 goals scored <50 goals conceded.

im curious… or am i being overly optimistic?

  • 21 Mister Tuff // Aug 5, 2016 at 2:19 PM

Very positive about the first game -although still concerned about our attack.
Of all days fans can be expected to have high hopes of what is to come -yet we still have a couple of soothsayers of doom blighting the first game with their misery and pessimism as if it is a reflection of their own personal misery that they live daily and they cannot help heaping their shyte onto everybody else.

  • 22 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 5, 2016 at 2:20 PM

    lose <5 games***

No ned to worry about goals scored. There are plenty of goals throughout this squad at this level.

My main concern which I have had for a number of years has been goals conceded and a consistently dodgy defence.

Rafa appears to have addressed this issue judging by the defence’s performance in the last 6 games of last season and the pe season games to date.

The acquisition of Hanley Gamez Clark and Hayden hs got the defence close to full strength.

expat when you think we were looking at the CB Teixeira of FC Twente (Douglas) 5- 6 years ago and nothing was done about the collander like defence -shocking neglect – as you say we now have ample defensive re-enforcements.

Don’t like this keeper and the ref should be banned for three games for missing that clear pen same old same old from refs
