Long Needed Positive Changes In The Pipeline At Newcastle

1:49 pm, Thursday, August 11th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 100 Comments

We put out an article  earlier today that included some tweets about the Fans Forum meeting last night from Forum member Taylor Payne, who is the Members Representative.

Rafa Benitez came in for the last hour and surprised the members and took lots of questions from them.

Since then Taylor has put out more tweets and it seems to be good news in the offing for Newcastle fans.

Taylor says it was the most positive Fans Forum meeting he has ever attended and there is some good news in the pipeline on changes at the club that have been needed for years.

Notice Taylor is also being responsible in these tweets by not revealing any of the changes until the minutes of the Fans Forum meeting are released.

Hope the minutes come out quickly this time.

Don’t tell me the fans forum has become an actual fans forum, not a wall of referral to previously made statements that didn’t say anything in the first place?

Looking forward to reading the minutes.

Surely there has to be a point where Sissoko is breaking club rules and we start fining him. He is becoming the laughing stock of the football world with his begging.

I would love Rafa to force his hand and name him in the squad on saturday, then if he refuses to play we start taking his wages. If he plays then just imagine the response from the fans..

The more it goes on the more id leave him training with the kids. Keep selecting him and fining him each week so it doesnt cost us. Use him as an example.

  • 3 WWSBRD // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:01 PM

    From previous
I am no fan of the mag but I remember reading the article about Sissoko in that list from the Telegraph (and tbf not sure why they would make up an article)

His name crops up in here as well (from earlier in the season but still)

  • 4 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:15 PM

Use him whilst he’s here (sissoko) as for Aaron’s I’m yet to see him have a good 90mins, he’s played a few cameos here and there…..that’s when the hype started and was called the next Raheem Sterling, looks like an appropriate comparison because both have flattered to make any kind of impression over the last 18 months

  • 5 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:19 PM

I wouldn’t have Sissoko anywhere near the squad. Did anyone see the Lascelles comment earlier in the week where he said something along the lines of players should want to play for this club, and shouldn’t be using it as a stepping stone. Would seem to suggest Sissoko’s actions and words aren’t overly popular with his team mates.

  • 6 firebug666 // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:25 PM

Can’t have Sissoko in the squad, his head is not in the right place, he doesn’t want to be here, and I doubt he could stand the reception he will get from the home fans.

The best thing for him is to be dumped in the reserves and left to learn life’s lessons while pondering what might have been.

The first team will do fine without him, and before I would ever welcome him back to the first team I would want to hear some apologies from him to the club, staff and fans.

  • 7 Munster Mag // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:37 PM

I wud think should be fining him. Jail wont like me reminding him but i labelled this guy a fraud a few years ago and got plenty of flak but sorry, i rarely call it wrong on players. I would take 25 mill for him to get rid. Can u remember pardew and smc talking about his physique when he walked into their offices. Serious mancrush but badly misplaced. Will always thank him fir his goal v west ham but thats about it…

  • 8 lesh // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:47 PM

No way should Sissoko be let anywhere near the kids. He’d poison and cast doubts in their young minds. Neither should he be training with the seniors when Rafa should be giving his attention to developing other players as alternatives to Sissoko.

It’s a pity it’s all come to this where Sissoko’s ploy is to render himself as a supernumerary and thus force the price on his miserable head, down. That then leads to attrition, who blinks first.

  • 9 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:49 PM

Come on mate, he was apparently welcomed back by his teammates, it was reported the players had no issues with him. As for Lascelles maybe he should do less talking and more concentrating to make sure he doesn’t leave the tallest man on the pitch free to head in.

If other players are affected by sissoko whoring himself out then maybe they should also leave as they don’t have the mental capacity for a fight. Like any business when someone wants to leave they work a notice period before they are allowed to go. Football is no different, he’ll get a bad reception from the fans and rightly so, he deserves it. We aren’t in a position where we can leave a better player out because we are bitter that he wants to leave!!

  • 10 firebug666 // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:53 PM

    Our Toon

But then if Sissoko was to play, whats to say he won’t just continue to be pi$$ poor mate.

All he is thinking about is getting out of Toon asap so we are never going to see him at his best, his head and heart are just not in it…..if they ever were.

  • 11 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 2:57 PM

If he plays piss poor then who’ll buy a player that doesn’t perform in the 2nd tier of English football? Certainly not a top club.

If he doesn’t perform he’s only preventing himself from moving away. Rafa has said he’s had no issues with sissoko or his application in training since he’s returned!! Are we now saying rafa is a liar?

Fans get too worked up with sissoko, concentrate on the real problems and laugh at sissoko as he struggles to force a move to a “top club” it’s embarrassing for him

  • 12 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:03 PM

    Our Toon,
Lying? Perhaps, or just saying it to maintain his poker face whilst trying to ensure a high price.

  • 13 so-far-king-quick // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:04 PM

Read somewhere madrid will offer us marco llorente and mariano diaz as part of the deal for sissoko

  • 14 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:04 PM

    Our Toon,
Only Sissoko has said he was welcomed back by teammates.

  • 15 hibbitt // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:09 PM

i think sissoko will find out just what the fans in the ground think of him on saturday if he shows up /plays

  • 16 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:10 PM

Did you read anywhere that he wasn’t welcomed back? I yet to hear a bad word uttered about sissoko from inside the club or players. Rafa has banished people to the reserves at previous clubs, especially those who don’t tow the line, why has he failed to do this with the “disruptive” sissoko?

Poker face or not actions speak louder than words, by putting out the 35m indirectly he planted a seed and as such offers haven’t been forthcoming because he’s not worth anywhere near that. He also made him his captain last season, say a lot about what the players think of him and what his manager thinks of him.

  • 17 firebug666 // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:11 PM

    Our Toon

Well for a start we are not inundated with offers for Sissoko are we? He failed to perform for much of last season, and had a couple of good games for France.

I would never call Rafa or anyone else a liar so really there is no need to put words in my mouth mate, and I am only giving an opinion after all.

Rafa is not likely to slag off any players in public, and we will never know what goes on behind closed doors.

Sissoko is begging any club in the top division preferable CL to come and get him. He is going public with all of his begging statements and cringe worthy interviews. For me it is bordering on disrespectful, and I can’t help feeling that if he had kept his over large god shut he might have had his move.

Fans IMO have every right to get worked up about his constant bleating for a move, he says he gave his all to this club… Ha… it wasn’t a lot then was it?

I can’t wait to see the back of him mate, but in the mean time while we are stuck with each other he needs dropping to the reserves, and only brought back when his is ready to earn his crust and eventually give his all for the club.

Bids for Sissoko are a bit like his performances for us last season, few and far between.

  • 18 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:16 PM

    Our Toon,
Does it? Or was making him captain a last gasp attempt at coaxing something close to a decent performance from him? I’d say Lascelles comments earlier this week on players wanting to be here says more on their thoughts about him than the silence from the rest of the camp regarding it.

I never labelled him disruptive. Still, Sissoko did say he has been training on his own. Why banish to the reserves when you can put him on his own?

  • 19 WWSBRD // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:17 PM

Sissoko? Play him still the best we have and he needs to play to get a move plus it would of been a different story at Fulham had he played imo

  • 20 firebug666 // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:17 PM

I don’t think we will see Sissoko play for us now unless he is still here after the window closes, and then it will be to put himself in the shop window for a January transfer.

  • 21 hibbitt // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:19 PM

what do you think the crowds reaction will be to sissoko playing ????

  • 22 Very Terry // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:20 PM

Is he a Man or a Moussa?

  • 23 WWSBRD // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:24 PM

More of an issue is who plays LB imo, had hoped it would be the lad from Everton but seems we will have to wait longer for him, Dummett is still yet to find his level…Gamez maybe?

  • 24 WWSBRD // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:25 PM

Same way they have for a year+ boo him…pretty sure hes used to it by now. Or of course they could ignore him which would be the better way to go about it

  • 25 hibbitt // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:25 PM

i dont think he will play again even after the window closes it would be difficult for him to make peace with the fans knowing it would all start again next window best for all if he’s sold
    Hull are looking for players

  • 26 m1c4a3l // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:29 PM

Get rid of Sissoko now for 20m I’d invest that with a cheeky bid for Loic Remy (12m) keep the change for the summer.

  • 27 firebug666 // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:30 PM

Aye he could probably find his level at Hull. Doubt we are ever going to get our asking price for him though. We all know he’s just not worth it.

  • 28 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:31 PM

    LG and Firebug

He was training by himself as he just returned from his holiday and was well behind the rest in terms of fitness etc, you honestly think Rafa would have made sissoko captain to keep him at the club at the detriment of the rest of the squad? He’s not been whoring himself this window he’s been doing it for a while

As for him wanting a move etc at least we know where he stands, Townsend said he was happy to stay, read through his comments he’d give the media about the club…..I’d rather have a player tell us how it is rather than a liar who’ll jump ship to anyone.

If Rafa had any issues with sissoko he’d have fined him at the very least, he’s a tough task master and takes no $hit, the fact he hasn’t says a lot.

As for Lascelles he comes out and says all the right things and things that he knows the fans want to hear, wasn’t long ago lascelles was putting in half arsed performances for forest when returning on loan, this resulted in him being dropped and blasted by forest fans!!

If sissoko was causing problems then rafa would have dealt with it or told him not to return to the club as we will sell him, fined him, chucked in the reserves etc. Nothing as of yet…..I hope he leaves but if he doesn’t I’m not arsed as we will have him and Diame in midfield. If he leaves in January then it’s worked out for us

  • 29 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:36 PM

Fans can be very fickle, sissoko will get booed no doubting that, but if he scores (big if) are fans going to sit quietly? Will no one cheer the goal? Plenty of players have been booed after not getting a move and then performed…..the tide changes!!

  • 30 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:39 PM

Has the money run out? Are we not going to buy unless someone leaves?

Main targets should be forresteri and Knockaert, make the moves rafa

  • 31 firebug666 // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:40 PM

    Our Toon

Just because we don’t hear about players being disciplined does not mean it has not happend, who said Sissoko is training on his own because he is behind the others?

He is likely training on his own as he is wanting away, and Rafa will see no point including him in team training if he is not going to be playing.

All of this is a mute point anyway as none of us know what is going on behind closed door, all we can do is speculate.

At the end of the day Sissoko should keep his gob shut and concentrate on his football leaving his agents to find him a move….. he can’t seem to do that so should be dropped imo.

    Transfer merry round.

City grab stones off everton while everton waiting for kone off sunderland while Sunderland get mcnair and love off man utd..Newcastle bottom of the food chain as we wait for galloway until all above is done

  • 33 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 3:56 PM

It obviously annoys you that he’s whoring and you aren’t alone in this, I honestly don’t have an issue with it and find it humorous that he’s so desperate to get away and as of yet hasn’t gone. Why would I get worked up by something like this? What does annoy me is someone like shelvey being on 80k and not justifying it at all with his lazy attitude.

As for not knowing about discipline etc, stuff gets leaked all the time, it’s very rare that information doesn’t come out about a player being disciplined these days, maybe 20 years ago it was different but with today’s social media etc pretty much everything gets out.

For all we know these latest reports could he a rehash of a previous article. I said a while back that players signed and promised CL or challenging for things and using us as stepping stones have been lied to so don’t he surprised when they behave like sissoko. He won’t be the first or the last to act like this!!

I’m more concerned by the lack of activity in bringing in much needed creativity then to worry about comments a player makes weekly about leaving!!

  • 34 JDdubai // Aug 11, 2016 at 4:18 PM

So do we all agree this talk of Insigne is just his agent trying to get him more lira from Napoli? No way he would ever consider us surely, even for 80k a week for a year with increase if/when we get promoted?

  • 35 Belfast // Aug 11, 2016 at 4:23 PM

He’s going to Palace or West Bromwich he just doesn’t know it yet. 🙂

  • 36 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 4:29 PM

Yeah it’s all rubbish mate, I can’t see Insigne coming here, even when we were in the prem I wouldn’t imagine it. Would be nice though

  • 37 Slank // Aug 11, 2016 at 4:38 PM

As far as I’m aware (because it hasn’t happened to me !) clubs don’t go looking for players just because a player is advertising himself in public.

Moreover, I’m sure they tend to be a bit wary of such player as that player is showing disrespect to his employer and that employer could easily be them in the future.

  • 38 toon kk // Aug 11, 2016 at 4:42 PM

As far as Sissoko goes he’s a Newcastle player, one of the players who contributed to our relegation. If he’s sold so be it. But I’m in a minority, he should be kept and used in our promotion attempt, after all we need him. No doubt he’ll move on but I think Rafa should use him if he’s fit enough in the meantime.

  • 39 Belfast // Aug 11, 2016 at 4:48 PM

I would wet myself if Real Madrid issue a statement saying they’re not interested in him and never have been.

why should we as paying fans show him any respect a lazy good for nothing who has disrespected the shirt the fans and the club you can count on one hand the games he has put in a shift for us
i hope he never pulls the shirt on again
if he plays this weekend he will know by the end of the game he’s not welcome the sooner he’s gone the better

  • 43 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:09 PM

They already have haven’t they? That’s why I find the whole thing funny

Rotonda – Rafa had him filling in a few roles but he did get his only goal last season under his management, it’s hypothetical but I can’t imagine anyone being bitter IF he did score or set someone up.

Toon KK – I agree with you, if he is sold what calibre of players are we going to get to replace? Not good ones by the look of some of the players we have got so far!!

  • 44 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:12 PM

    Our Toon,
I’m not bothered about his interviews. This must be getting really bad for his ego, if he was even halvas good as he thinks a big club wouldn’t bat an eyelid at that fee and he’d have been gone. I also don’t mind players wanting to progress there career moving to top clubs, they have to earn it though, and his performances certainly haven’t done that.

If we can get a good quality left winger in, I’m not sure where he would fit anyway. Diame offers more end product, and Sissoko certainly isn’t a left winger. Nowhere near as good as Ritchie on the right either.

Still, I wouldn’t play him the weekend, I’d prefer to see others given a chance. Maybe even Arma if Rafa decides to go for it. I do agree with you on Aarons, he needs to lift his game, but he also needs a run to show it. I’d bring Aarons in for Anita, and I’d toy with the idea of Arma for Perez, but that is more in the balance.

  • 45 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:13 PM

    *half as

  • 46 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:14 PM

I didn’t say anyone should show him respect, if I did please point out where I said that. If he scored though will you still boo him?

Booing someone who goes out to represent YOUR team doesn’t do the other players any good, the player you are booing may not care but overall you do it at the detriment of your own team!! Short sighted in my eyes especially if no one comes in for him and we are left with the lad.

By booing him and affecting the atmosphere does that make you proud? Plenty of ways to voice your opinion, twitter for a start, go direct to the poison rather than poisoning the entire lot!! That’s my opinion but feel free to do what you want.

We have more important things to concern ourselves with than a player that wants a move

  • 47 Belfast // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:14 PM

Our toon the newspaper that’s usually their mouthpiece say they have no interest in him, but nothing official from Madrid.

  • 48 JamesToon // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:19 PM

More reports saying we offered Insigne €5m a year deal

Just remembered as well didn’t Rafa work with Insigne at Napoli?? Could be our pulling power, highly doubt it will happen but would be massive if we pulled that one off

  • 49 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:19 PM

I can’t argue with what you’ve said mate, it would be good to give Armstrong a go especially at home at this level. Perez is another half arsed player who gets away with so much and reason which are unknown to me.

The only reason I’d play sissoko is his physicality and running power, we tried to play the 2 smaller players on Friday and they were bossed, brushed aside, sissoko wouldn’t be which is why I’d play him. It’s the same reason why I’d stick with tiote ahead of Hayden.

Championship is more physical than the premier league, it showed in our opening game, was an eye opener for some!!

  • 50 ROSHAN MAGPIE // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:20 PM

finally remy cabella deal had been officially confirmed

  • 51 ROSHAN MAGPIE // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:21 PM

    thauvin deal also officially confirmed

  • 52 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:27 PM

    Our Toon,
I think Diame has been brought in to offer that though, and I’d imagine he will probably get a nod to start this weekend. If we can get a fit and focussed Tiote, then he would be one of the first names on the team sheet for me. I can only assume by him not being involved that Rafa doesn’t anticipate him being here and part of the plans.

We need a winger and a creative central player. Hopefully we will get both. It won’t be Insigne though. If it is then….. Incredible.

Perez is an odd one. Hugely rated by our fans, and yet he has never really nailed a place or excelled. He looked promising in his first season, but no more than that. Less goals and assists than Mitro in his first season, yet Mitro is a year younger and got loads of stick for last season.

Perez needs to do a lot more then he did last season, and on Friday, but he isn’t helped by being moved from pillar to post regularly.

  • 53 Munster Mag // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:30 PM

Thauvin and cabella, wtf was carr thinking ??

  • 54 Mr Funk // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:33 PM

    @ Lilongwe

What do you think of Hakim Ziyech as a possible option – available for 15 million euros and at a mid-table dutch team

  • 55 Wayayman // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:35 PM

Lilongwe, I think it’s because Perez has scored some vital goals ie match winners so maybe lots of fans see him as that, a match winner?. Dunno. Mitro gets stick from a handful, but to be fair the lad is almost idolised by many because of his physicality and his appearance to actually give a toss. He’ll be a great player for us I think, but I too am dissapointed with the lack of progress in Perez’s game last season. He tries the little, short and fast touches but defenders just stand in his way now and he goes down. Refs at this level wont give anything for that, as the horrible display by the referee last friday demonstrated.

I do think Diame will change Gayle and Perez’s game though, as he’ll hopefully carry the ball further forward and take us into the final third where Gayle and Perez will be making runs. Gayle made some fantastic runs last week but noone either saw him or had the ability to feed him.

  • 56 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:38 PM

Honestly haven’t seen anything of him other than the YouTube links people have put up. I don’t trust those when judging a player, so I can’t comment on him. Reasonable goals and assists record, but it is the Dutch league which is defensively poor.

He will be at AFCON next year as well. Not a huge issue if we have sufficient competition or back up.

  • 57 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:42 PM

Gayle made some decent runs, and actually held the ball up reasonably. I’m not convinced that we have the players to suit him at the moment. I think Rafa may use him wide of Mitro in a similar way he used Kuyt at Liverpool. A hard worker who can get in the box, support and get a few goals.

Perez is the worry. I hope he comes good. It will be interesting to see how and where he features this season.

  • 58 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:42 PM

Also, when your team scores as few goals as ours has in recent years, all goals are important!

  • 59 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:43 PM

This just in: Mousie Sissoko seen training by himself. Practicing his scrambly bits as he is well aware that Real Madrid don’t rate goal scorers very highly. Very wise Mousie…..

  • 60 Our Toon // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:45 PM

You mention winger and creative player, for weeks now I’ve been saying we need to get Forresteri and Knockaert, we should be going all out for these 2.

The worry is it seems we don’t have any funds as the spending stops until someone goes. With the confirmation of Cabella and and thauvin let’s hope that means we are getting others through the door

  • 61 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:46 PM

Count me as among those concerned about Perez’s progress to date. He seems to come and go in matches. Has he got the drive to truly succeed in the Championship? Still not sure. Rafa won’t be able to wait long for him. Points are vital and getting goals and wins at home will be the top priority. Hope we see Diame against Huddersfield.

  • 62 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:48 PM

Still a lot of question marks at the club. We still need to move a few more out. That means replacing them with better players but if Sissoko isn’t sold where will the money come from? We should have outbid Villa for McCormack. We’re going to rue the day we didn’t make him the top priority.

  • 63 Mr Funk // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:48 PM

Has Diame been given a squad number?

How much money will you think it take to get Forresteri and Knockaert?

  • 64 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:49 PM

We don’t have a DM, CAM, and another Winger and Striker.
Not sure who will boss the midfield without Tiote. What is the story there.

Plus we can have Aguero up from changes nothing, as nothing would be fed to him. Sad.

I am not feeling positive at all at the next match. We where outbossed, outplayed at Fulham, don’t see where we go from here.

  • 65 clinath@ed // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:55 PM

Lil, do you think Rafa will persist with 4-2-3-1 at home…and against Huddersfield?
Surely a 4-1-4-1 or 4-1-3-2 formation would be more acceptable.

  • 66 Wayayman // Aug 11, 2016 at 5:55 PM

    Fair point Lilo!

Kuyt was one of those players at Liverpool who didnt really catch the eye but had a hand in nearly everything they did, plus scored some important goals too.Would be made up if Gayle had the same effect on us.

On Forestieri & Knockaert, I’ve not seen anything of the former and only a little of the latter. Can’t say that two players whove only had moderate success in this league are what we need. Maybe we should take a punt on Januzai if Rafa can give the lad some of his shattered confidence back?

Nobody ever mentions the parachute payments. I assume Ashley will use them as operating funds for the club through the season. I think we’ll receive 25M pounds for the first season. If you look at our potential income in the Championship it doesn’t look good which means we had better get top dollar for our remaining players to be sold. The club will likely take a 60 or 70M pound drop in income this season. I can only see about 60 M coming in including the para.

No number yet for Diame Funky mate. He is still TBC.

  • 71 Mr Funk // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:08 PM

I hope we have a good result on Saturday. I think it will help settle the supporters and the players down.

  • 72 lesh // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:08 PM

Booing Sissoko or any other players not a clever thing to do for many reasons given by posters.

If Sissoko plays, he should be supported as much as other players. However when the final whistle’s blown and our victorious players are cheered off, Sissoko does merit some special attention. Now if Rafa were to sub him near the end of the game, perhaps silence or a slow handclap might just get the message through.

A tricky one, bu he needs to understand what damage he’s caused.

  • 73 JamesToon // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:09 PM

It’s a strange one with Perez.

I don’t think anyone can doubt his passion for us, I think he does work hard, and he’s rated by most because he’s scored goals that have won us games, hes a fox in the box, but when he’s a little deeper e.g like in the number 10 role, he seems to lack tactical awareness, pace, and decision making. He gets into the channels well occassionlaly which is what he needs to do more of, he’s very agile and tricky and against Fulham he tried to skin a few players but most often failed and was pushed off the ball, and besides that he’s not blessed with blistering pace, I think he needs to work on the tactical side of his game, how to get into the right positions and being able to make the right pass etc. Then he’d be a great player.

  • 74 JamesToon // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:11 PM

And if Sissoko does feature for us at some point, even though he does deserve to be booed, we shouldnt, can’t have any negative effects on the team, just stuck behind them and create a great atmosphere

  • 75 bettyswallocks // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:12 PM

Olly6………… I can’t imagine Rafa telling Dummett to go. We are trying to sign a loanee for LB cover so it would make no sense.

  • 76 OLLY6 // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:13 PM

No proof as such but exact words were 8 million ish Rafa told him to go on a text message
So I expect the WUM to come
Defo something happening he might chose to stay after speaking to them

  • 77 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:18 PM

I would think player’s salaries alone are going to come close to eating up all our operating capital. Even with the likes of Colo, Saylor, Wini, Obertongs, Marveaux, Townsend gone (about 250K a week there) we still have the biggest salary expense in the league by far. Rafa had best be careful who else he brings in. One more expensive striker and a winger will add considerably to the costs but are essential.

  • 78 Mr Funk // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:18 PM

    @ OLLY6

I cast you out as a WUM – be gone.

Unless you want to talk about football – no rumours

  • 79 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:21 PM

No way we would get both Forestieri and Knockclarts. We would have to go after one or the other and probably not get either. All the attention has raised their value tremendously.

  • 80 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:22 PM

So apparently it’s the Thong of Shame for you Olly. Don’t bring thy vile rumours on here or prepare for the fonging of your life lad. The blog has spoken….. Harrumph!!!

  • 81 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:24 PM

Some loud sniffing and throat clearing would be acceptable as Sissoko leaves the pitch I would think (sniff!).

  • 82 Mr Funk // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:26 PM

Any suggestions for alternatives. I think we are going to need to take a risk on someone – Frank Acheampong, Moses Simon or Leon Bailey

  • 83 beermonkey // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:28 PM

    where have u heard this

  • 84 WWSBRD // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:30 PM

8 mill for Dummett hahahaha give over

  • 85 ShirebrookToon // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:32 PM

The only thing ive seen regarding Dummett going to Burnley Is the rumour board on SSN

  • 86 Moonraker15 // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:38 PM

I see King Percy is making statements of intent regarding Bolasie et al! I can see them getting relegated this season with him in charge haha

  • 87 Tonytoon73 // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:41 PM

WWSBRD get your prediction for Saturday mate

  • 88 Fatman_joe // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:42 PM

I was personally underwhelmed by the gayle signing and even more surprised he got number 9. I saw him as more of a squad player. I like the idea of mitrovic as the main man with Perez playing off him up front.

  • 89 Moonraker15 // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:43 PM

We may have the biggest wage bill but we are the biggest club in the league by a mile so we can afford it this season!

  • 90 toon kk // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:44 PM

Sissoko was part of a entire squad of players which most Didn’t play to there potential, all the more reason to make him play for another season in the championship.
He’s a Newcastle player and if he gets his move fair enough. But booing him doesn’t achieve anything. He’s a strong player, something our current squad really looks short of.
One thing for cirtain we’ll be a far stronger team with him in it.
People shouldn’t take his wishes to personal, he’s been playing with flops for a long time and wants more. but he also must remember he’ll be bench warming if he did get a move to Real Madrid.

  • 91 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:45 PM

Acheampong too young and/or small Funky mate. We’re already too young and/or small. Simon the same. Bailey too young. Sessegnon is small but very experienced and although 32 now he might be worth it on a 2 year contract to help get us back up. It’s a risk but I just can’t see taking a chance on another young’un at this point.

  • 92 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:47 PM

Spot on @90 toon kk. Well said. Avoid booing at all costs. Show the team support only. Get behind anyone who goes on the pitch for us. It should be a powerful show of force on Saturday with the flags waving and a huge crowd.

  • 93 Tonytoon73 // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:47 PM

toon kk agree all the way mate

  • 94 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:49 PM

We can afford it moonraker mate but it’s the law of diminishing returns. We can’t afford a second season in the Champs without downsizing the wage bill so we had best get back up straight away. HWTL!!!

  • 95 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:50 PM

People also have my permission to give Sissoko a loud “Harrumph” as he goes off the pitch…..

  • 96 Mr Funk // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:54 PM

Sessegnon could be a good option – is he on a free?

  • 97 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:57 PM

I think so Funky mate. He has no club as far as I’m aware. I’m a bit surprised nobody in the Champs has gone after him yet. Unless he’s injured of course.

  • 98 GeordieTwo // Aug 11, 2016 at 6:59 PM

I won’t make a prediction for the match on Saturday. It’s a superstition of mine about how they will do…..

  • 99 Rotonda heights // Aug 11, 2016 at 7:01 PM

i’m still very concerned carr is still on board

  • 100 bettyswallocks // Aug 11, 2016 at 7:08 PM

Sissoko won’t play. They’ll say he’s not quite up to fitness yet. Too much at stake to risk injury and the booing which he’d be sure to get wouldn’t help either side.
