This Team Should Give Magpies More Power Against Terriers

We expect Rafa Benitez to make a few changes from the side that started at Fulham a week ago and put in a disappointing display.

That display gave us our first defeat of the season in the very first game – and that was a huge surprise for Newcastle fans – and probably for Rafa too.

So we expect the manager to include some powerful players in the side tomorrow, since we looked lightweight up front with very little physical prowess and we also lacked creativity.

Rafa also needs to bring in another specialized left back soon – hopefully it’s Brendan Galloway on loan from Everton next week, because even now with Sadio Haidara still out injured Paul Dummett is the only specialist left back we have at the moment.

It’s like deja vu all over again.

It is a little better than last season because we do now have Ciaran Clark and  Jesus Gamez who can play there, although that’s not their preferred position.

We’d like to have Jonjo Shelvey and new arrival Mohamed Diame in the side tomorrow to give us strength, power and creativity in midfield.

Here’s the team we’d like to see start tomorrow:

Sels
Janmaat Hanley Lascelles (c) Dummett
Hayden Diame
Ritchie Shelvey Aarons
Gayle
Subs: Darlow Clark Mbemba Colback Anita Perez Armstrong

Rafa could well play Anita in place of Hayden in that starting line-up and Chancel Mbemba could possibly make a return in central defense.

But having big men like Shelvey and Diame in the center of the pitch should give us a lot more power and creativity than we had at Fulham.

And with our next game being another home game against Reading on Wednesday night we will see Rafa make quite a few chances in the starting line-up for that game.

Now to the important stuff – what would your starting eleven be for tomorrow?

    munster

can’t escape the feeling you almost want rafa to fail with all your negative comments. with respect you are not a CL winning manager. i could understand if it was McCarver, but the endless sly digs are getting very tiresome now.

To be frank, any sort of criticism, by anybody, ever, in any circumstance, is to be taken with a pinch of salt. Not that it’s ever undeserved, it always is, just that it’s rarely if ever right, so deprived are we of all the facts.

hanley looked out of his depth, rather throw mbemba on with lascelles

If M’bemba is fit I’d be playing him ahead of Hanley. Hanley and Lascelles together looked ponderous and inflexible. Otherwise I think that is probably the right selection, and the best we can do as it stands.

Gamez not even on the bench? Fuggen ell Ed! Gamez in for Dummett, and Mbemba for Hanley, both of which seem to pick themselves to my mind, and I’d back us for a two goal win. Otherwise,I’m far less confident.

I have always thought Hanley to be exceptionally slow and V Fulham that didnt change my mind. I would play Mbemba every single game without fail.

I think Rafa may go 3 centre halfs at some point this season. Janmaatt could work well as a wing back as could Hairdara and Gamez.

While I wud have chancel and lascelles as 1st choice CBs, I think it’s a bit harsh to write off hanley after 1 game. Give the lad a chance ffs.

    For me it would be

    Sels
    Janmaat mbemba lascelles gamez
    Hayden shelvey
    Ritchie Diame Perez/aarons
    Gayle

Really think gamez needs to start as dummett is not up to it. Shelvey will give us creativity and diame will bridge that gap between midfield and up front which was really lacking against Fulham, can’t choose between ayoze or rolando on the wing though!
