An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #82i honestly think the next signings will be key to how the season pans out so many players falling short
the left side is still a major problem we don’t have a goal scorer and we lack a mf general
same problems we ended the season on

Rafa knew the problems within the squad last season as in the left back position.
How many players have been used there now in his time alone ?? yet we still persist with playing a CB in a left back position who constantly gets skinned in every game…..Yesterday was no exception.
Why do we persist in playing a utility player in Anita when we could have gone out and bought a designated player who plays in that position.
These are not just my views but of 50,000 that were at the game mate.
Half time i went for cheeky pint at the bar and everyone was saying the same. The lads i have sat around for 20 odd year were addressing the same constant problems as before.
Why were we booed off at half time and full time. I pray to god Rafa can sort this out given time, Because if he leaves then where does that leave us!!

Like you, I presume, I find it incredible that some posters are questioning Rafa’s ability and tactics. The man’s one of the most successful managers in the world and his favoured 4231 set up’s been used to bring him that success.
Rafa committed to Newcastle United because of the support and ‘love’ shown by the Club’s fans and if his critics start getting at him as they did Pardew and McLaren to an extent, he’ll feel betrayed and walk. They shouldn’t underestimate the man as there’s be a host of top top clubs queuing up for his services.
Yes, we haven’t had the best of starts but with nine players out and eight new recruits the players have got to have time to gel and learn each others games – as does Rafa. We should be realistic and not expect instant success as the Club is work in progress, a project that’ll take years to rectify the damage caused by years of mismanagement.

Comment #86Next signings crucial, do’nt make me laugh. How many more no marks is Rafa going to sign. we are picking up players who are not wanted elsewhere and at inflated prices. only decent signing is Ritchie.
Still need a LB, Striker and quality playmaker. Some pace in the team is a must.

Like I keep saying need to get rid of the entire CM. as a start. Shelley out, Anita out, Comeback out all crap and below par, sh1t players that will never do anything for us.
Back 2 not sure where to start we bought so many all crap. Defensive errors the whole way. Never a sense of assurance but complete nervousness and doubt with everything they do.
If confidence is everything which it certainly plays a huge role, we don’t even have the basics never mind confidence.
one HAS to surely think in the RAFA camp, there are wheyey more serious issues now. Emergency meeting should be setup to fund proper players and by doing so stop the rot.
I just don’t see where the f will the turnaround is going to come from these crap players I really truly don’t.
Shelvey? Anita? Coleback? Perez? Who?

Comment #88We fans have to give Rafa time however disappointed we are it is better to start like this than do a Brighton of last season. It’s times like this when we have to show how good we are as fans. or are we delusional? No we know better so let’s get behind Rafa! The alternative is unthinkable!

Comment #89We have signed a lot of average defensive players, but our recruitment of attacking players has been woeful so far. If the likes of Sissoko, Riviere and Ameobi do leave, then we will have lost 10 attacking players this summer, and at the moment we have signed 3. Granted not all of those would play, but it leaves our squad looking totally threadbare in certain areas. God help us if we get any injuries, and if we get major injuries then we are totally screwed. So when there is talk of maybe signing a striker and a winger, you have to wonder if Rafa has lost the plot. We need at least 4 four new attacking options, and quality ones as well.

You can bet your boots that Rafa’s well aware of the squad’s shortcomings and will be keen to rectify them with the LB we need.
But we should ask ourselves why the flood of incomers came to a halt. Maybe Charnley’s managing the Club’s cash which’ll not be slushing about by the sackful.
Patience is called for and I’m sure that Rafa’ll be as frustrated as the fans.

Yeah, we need 3/4 decent players in order to get back up. What was Shelvey doing for their goal. He didn’t make the effort to challenge the player. Get rid.

Again i hope your right mate re Charnley. Do you think Rafa will stand for his crap like Mclaren and Pardew did tho. Personally i don’t buddy. If he doesn’t get what he was promised i don’t see him hanging around .
We have not even spent anything yet mate yet have we apart from the outgoing transfer money of players.

Same ppl got the defeats back with its only the first game, its only the second game….well I can see it will be its only the first 10 games coming up.
We need urgent QUALITY signings if we don’t pull it off we will be in this league for a very very very very long time.

Comment #100Jazzy – I understand what your saying, really I do, but my thinking on it is as simple as this.
Years of mismanagement
Brining in players on promises of better clubs coming in for them.
The squad, with technically gifted players, rotting and degenerating into the tripe fed last season.
The squad imo, was rotten to core.
Spirit and mentality of most, simply shocking.
Rafa in, too late to save us.
Overhaul of squad, but many still here who were rotten
New players, mixing and gelling with old in recent weeks.
New players, as yet only sold on Ritchie, rest look under par, however, same with the other rotters that remained
Needs time to grow
Too long to do a narrative

Comment #104we have to remember where we are, with regards to transfers,we may sign players that see the longview on things and see a bright future after a transitional phase but in this day and age of the mercenary footballer, playing at this level is not good for there ego or c.v….sissoko for example….we can only attract so much,so it will take patience and maybe a window or two, which a lot wont want to hear.

I use to be a forever optimist on here for years and got slated for sticking up for the drivel we were served.
Last September i made a conscious decision to for go the games, something i haven’t done since the 90’s.
Yet like many i was swayed with the new found optimism within the club so decided to go back.
Yesterday on the long drive up the A1 i was bouncing, Couldn’t wait to be back at my beloved NUFC.
It was great to meet up with lads i have got to know and become good friends with through one love….Newcastle United.
The game started the Gallowgate looked stunning with its bearing of flags, The noise was deafening………..And from that point it all went downhill fast. The football was dross. The crowd was none existent in voice.
I said goodbye to the lads around me and left embarrassed and angry that still a year later we are in the same predicament as last season but a league down

Comment #109Just have to say it’s not the getting beat that worries me but the manner in our defeats is very worrying. It’s not that we are unlucky and just waiting for that turning point, we are getting well beat with no imagination up front, defence is shocking , shelvey ??? Haha joke that’s all I can say about him . No luck involved , just a bad football team at the minute . Where do we start to put it right ???

Comment #111It’s no surprise that the bloggers who went to the match are more angry and frustrated than others. Rafa has had all summer to get in the right ingredients and bin others. He has twice now served us up a dog’s breakfast.
I can’t for the life of me understand how Ritchie didn’t start given the evidence of his fitness when he came on.
How does Aarons get a start? I’m all for giving a player a chance but on that evidence it’s hard to see what he can be doing in training and reserve games to deserve one. And a five year contract when he’s achieved nothing for this club or any other.
Hayden looks bang average.
What is the idea of playing Anita as a winger?
Dwight Gayle looks like a poor academy player.
Hanley has been dropped already, even from the bench, despite being fit.
Shelvey is pedestrian but to be fair to him, he has no one to pick out.
And Janmaat rubs me up the wrong way when he demands noise from the crowd. Does he not realise that he and his team mates needs to do just one good thing on the pitch to get the crowd going? I’m sorry but I can’t stand him now. His attitude and performances are shite.

Mbemba
Janmaat
Anita
Sissoko
Aarons
Ritchie
Diame
Mitrovic

That tells me that we need 3/4 new players. The first few defeats are acceptable as we are in transition. I expect us to be near the top come January.

Comment #120a lot of talk this morning about players leaving, rivie being one,i would hang on to him,we have slight(weight) strikers in gayle, arma, perez all mobile but we lack strength and power, height, only have mitro so should really should hang on to rivvy to make it 3 of each, granted if we sign another big striker,he’s not liked by everyone but if he’s not going to be replaced it would just weaken an already weak squad.
