Sky Sports Report Newcastle After Italian Playmaker

Wantaway Sheffield Wednesday playmaker/striker Fernando Forestieri refused to play yesterday for his club in the 0-0 draw at Norwich, but manager Carlos Carvalhal has said the player is going nowhere.

But as we found out with Yohan Cabaye three years ago when he refused to play for us when the season started in August of 2013 with Arsenal after him, it’s sometimes difficult to keep an unhappy player.

Fernando Forestieri

Fernando Forestieri – 26 year-old Sheffield Wednesday striker

Cabaye didn’t move to Arsenal, because Newcastle rejected their £11M offer but he went the following January to PSG for £20M and found out what it was like sitting on the bench in Paris.

Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle are interested in the Argentine-born forward and it seems that Derby County have already started the bidding at £7M for the player.

Wednesday did what Newcastle did three years ago when Cabaye wanted to push his move through to Arsenal and left him out of the match-day squad of 18 yesterday, because he refused to play.

Usually when that happens the player has been told of the wages another club are willing to pay him and it does cause the player to be unsettled, but on the other hand he is not acting professionally and it could point to problems down the road with his behavior.

He did play in the first game for the Owls – the 1-0 win at home to Aston Villa – but only after his changed his mind just before the game.

Manager Carvahal has said the following to Sky Sports:

“He came up to me before that game and said he wanted a chat,”

“He told me he didn’t want to play against Villa but we talked it through and he had a change of mind and ended up scoring our winner.”

“We then trained with Fernando as usual, preparing for the Norwich game, and then he spoke to me again and said he didn’t want to play.”

“This time he didn’t change his mind and we had to do without him.”

“It is obviously very disappointing and now we will open up the usual process when something like this happens.”

“But it is not a problem for me, because Fernando is under contract at this club and the Chairman has said he will not be selling anyone.”

“He is our player and will not be sold and if this happens again it will be the same situation.”

Forestieri moved to Wednesday from Watford last year for £3M and scored 16 goals and 8 assists for Wednesday in 40 appearances.

From the looks of the Newcastle team in the first two games of the season we need reinforcements who can score goals and help us to score goals.

The player has played for all the Italian youth sides including 2 appearances for the Italian U-21 side.

He started his career at Genoa in January 2006 and the moved to Udinese in 2009 and Watford in 2013 before ending up at Sheffield Wednesday last summer.

The 26 year-old has already played 252 games with 53 goals and 36 assists and he has also played for a number of teams on loan.

Newcastle do need somebody who can score goals and we have the money, so this report in Sky Sports could even be true.

We’d be very surprised if Sheffield Wednesday want to sell their top player to a team who may be challenging them for promotion this season.

What do you think?

This is what I blogged last night – usually I calm down a bit next morning – but not today

SIMPLE NOT GOOD ENOUGH – season after season play the same crap sideways sideways, backwards. THE SPINE OF THE TEAM IS WEAK FROM – goalkeeper centre half central midfield and centre forward – nothing goes down the middle only high balls and when we go down the wings its the full backs who cross and that is floated.

    Just got in from match…

Great Atmosphere at the start, suns out loads of flags noise – match kicks off ten minutes into the game place has gone dead – no wonder watching another another same old shite huff-puff performance. Plenty of ball but create SWEET FA

Nothing has changed – playing poorer teams but they all know how to play `the TOON.

How many times today did we get down the wings then final ball a floated cross to our midget attack
Opposition sit back let us have the ball let us pass side to side backwards side to side backwards then HOOF it to our midget attack.
Ball goes back to TOON sideways backwards sideways then capitalise on us making a mistake counter attack at pace stick the ball in the net – 1-0 to the opposition.

Different managers same tactics – bloody awful.

Here’s my marks for today for what they are worth.

Sels…4 does not give me any confidence

Dummet 5 – least he tried but end product poor.
Lascalles 3 – bloody nervous wreck – poor throughout
MBemba 5 – did OK but mistake for their winner.
Jannmaat 6 good going forward – final ball poor

Anita 4 – Another poor showing.
Shelvey 6 – Ok but a lazy twat – faded badly second half head went down when they scored second.
Hayden 4 – looked lost easily knocked off the ball
Diame 4 – dissapointed in him looked like Ameobi in disguise.
Gayle 4 – poor, little movement off the ball which means midfield slowing ball down pass side ways.
Aarons 2 – absolute waste of space.

Ritchie 7 – My MOM for second half showing – things started to happen when he came on.
Armstrong 3 – not on long but sadly not good enough
Perez 2 – gone to the dogs – Barcelona gone to his HEED..

Play like we did against Reading then sadly another defeat

I say no, we don’t need prima donnas like this. Rafa improves his game and then he’s another Sissoko wanting a move to a “Bigger Club”.

    Leave well alone.

I feel exactly the same this morning mate and am still fuming at the crap served up yet again by the club

Just got back from a very long angry drive home back down the A1 from the game. Had plenty of time to dwell on the match, And I have nothing positive what so ever to say regarding that shambolic display today .

Respect to the Gallowgate flag initiative, Looked class from the Platinum. Plenty of noise to kick start the game, Then deafening silence for most of the first half. We were easily out sung throughout the match.
Booed off at half time and at the final whistle and rightly so because that my friends was as shambolic as it gets.

Again we have nothing going forward and passed sideways and backwards more than i care to remember.
Long punts up field in hope which either went sailing straight into the keepers arms or was easily shepherd out by there defenders.

My worry is I do not see how things are going to change. Yeah 2 games in but should the same failings of last season not have been addressed by now

Benitez will sort it out by October time, heaps of new players to gel into a team and understand what the coaches want.

Some Benitez buys will no doubt be Sh•Te and moved on.

I predicted a 6th place finish, with promotion in the play offs.

The likes of Brighton etc have settled teams and understand the Championship so have a head start on us.

I’m sure by Xmas Benitez will have us playing to our potential with some more creative players to be signed.

It won’t be long before Sissoko goes on strike if he doesn’t get his move somewhere.

Jamestoon mentioned that Fernando’s agent was at St James park yesterday. So i doubt he will be coming here after what he witnessed at the game yesterday

my thoughts exactly and I am lucky – I only live seven miles from the ground.
Only thing decent was the Great flag display and the noise at the start then CRAP.

Their supporters were in excellent voice totally ousting the TOON.

Not sure why the 4-2-3-1 doesn’twork at NUFC. The two previous clowns tried it with so called better players, now we have a real manager and it still doesn’t work.

Our most successful times have been with 2 strikers, a tough guy sitting in CM with a trickster running at defences or setting the strikers up, with 2 fast paced wingers. Our defence has always been shite, even in the “entertainers” days.

I’m no coach or Manager so idon’t know which tactics he’d be using for the 4231 formation, maybe it’s just to confusing for our inexperienced team.
All I know is something better change quick, our fans patience has came to an end and it won’t be long before Rafa starts to feel the wrath of the disgruntled fans. Time to go back to the drawing board Rafa.

There fans totally embarrassed us mate as did there team. How many times did you here “shall we sing a song for you”
And “Sshhh Sshhhhhh” the atmosphere was dead to say it was our first home game of the season.
I thought we were average at best against fulham, So I was hoping Rafa would have addressed this on the training pitch before yesterdays game. Yet we god damn Awful throughout the game.

To be fair i thought Shelvey at least tried to get us forward yesterday and went looking for the ball, but faded in the second half
Hayden as much as like the look of the kid, looks like a small fish in a big pond.
And as for Gayle and Aarons…..the less said the better !!

If we are supposed to be one of the top teams in the Championship then why persist in playing 2 holding midfielders especially at home.

We know teams are going to sit back against us so why do we play that formation.
Surely to win games we need to break teams down and show some sort of creativity, Both of which we seriously lack in abundance

Yeah ya probably right mate, But there lies the problem within the game. To many issues dictate a player now rather than letting him just concentrate on his career on the pitch rather than the player wanting to swell his account

I don’t mind getting beat but it is the manner we get beat. If the players showed as much passion commitment to the cause as Ritchie did when he came on then we will be alright – as for the rest it looked like a Sunday afternoon kick-about in the park.

I know there are a lot of new players time to Gel – but I would like to see a lot more passion and drive

Did anyone sees a leader out there yesterday – someone who organised shouted at players – I certainly didn’t.

Hopefully Rafa has it sorted for Wednesday night – as I said yesterday before the match I was worried about our forwards whoever he played and I can see Rafa having the same problem Wednesday.

    St Étienne chasing Henri Saivet

According to L’Équipe, St Étienne are preparing an offer for Newcastle United midfielder Henri Saivet.

The player’s representatives have also received approaches from Marseille, but St Étienne want to sign the player on loan and are willing to pay a portion of the player’s €200k a month salary.

Saivet is Les Verts manager Christophe Galtier’s priority in attack.

Agreed. That set up isn’t going to set the roof on fire. The fans buy their tickets to be entertained not to watch that cr@p. If are playing with 1 striker he needs to have everything in his bag, strength, pace, skill and composure, not sure we have 1 of them so 2 strikers is the obvious choice, not sure why our managers can’t see this. Playing defensive at home and being beat is the biggest embarrassment of all.

I didnt see the game yesterday but if it was anything like the Fulham match, then we have concerns.

Firstly, the system is wrong. We need to attack team down the flanks with lots of pace. Maybe Aarons is to hyped up but he has pace and ability and should be given his head to take on full backs and get the ball in. Same on the other flank.

I cannot understand why Tiote is not playing. All this tripe of protecting him against injury is rubbish. He is our player. Nobody has met our terms. We are paying him. Get in there and earn your crust sunshine.

Drop Sels. Darlow did well enough last season to keep his spot.

Lascelles is too inexperienced to captain a club as big as us at present. Give it to Janmaat.

Should have got Crouch in on a short term loan before the season started if we ar not prepared to pay decent money for a good striker.

Play 442 for fvuks sake and attack these teams who only want to catch us on the break

Big players tend to have egos. Steering clear of that is not possible as you limit our already limited options. We need a left side and creativity with an edge desperately.

At this point I’d keep tiote and sissoko. Neither appear to have attracted the interest they wanted. We need them. I’d be tempted to start playing either 352 or 433. We need more players upfield to link the play together. We have been far too cautious and defensive.
