Rafa Reveals Recent Enquiries About Moussa Sissoko

3:47 pm, Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 40 Comments

Moussa Sissoko picked up an ankle injury yesterday and therefore will not be involved in tomorrow night’s home game against Reading and new signing Mohamed Diame has also picked up an injury playing against Huddersfield and will also not play tomorrow night.

Rafa has also admitted today there have been recent enquiries made about Moussa Sissoko, who has been unsettled at Newcastle and has been talking about joining a big club who play in the Champions League for at least a couple of years.

Moussa Sissoko – clubs have made enquiries

We reported this morning that both Everton and Inter-Milan are two clubs reported by French daily L’Equipe who are now interested in signing the player.

It’s a bit hectic at the moment with Newcastle likely still to lose some players and news today that Rafa wants to bring in four more new players into the squad.

This is what Rafa has said about the transfer situation:

“We know every transfer window is like this. We have experience and we know these things can happen and we have to deal with the situation.”

“It’s not ideal, it’s not perfect but we know we have some clubs asking about Sissoko, some clubs asking about some players, and we are talking about different players.”

“We have to wait a little bit. There are 15 days until the transfer deadline and after that everything will be settled down and it will be easier for us.”

“Sissoko knows the situation and he is training well, but he got a knock on his ankle yesterday, so he was not training today.”

“In terms of his mentality, he is just a professional, training and waiting for news like everyone here. But he will not be involved because he was not training.”

Newcastle must start to get some wins on the board and it’s an excellent time to do that against Reading tomorrow night, although after the first two games Newcastle fans are not all that confident of the win.

    With Diame out I’d go

    Darlow
    Janmaat, Mbemba, Lascelles, Dummett
    Hayden, Colback
    Ritchie, Armstrong, Gouffran
    Gayle

    Subs
Sels, Gamez, Clark, Anita, Shelvey, Aarons, Perez

Yep Gouffran! I’d have Mbabu left back but Rafa seems to like Dummett. And ideally Tiote in for Colback.

    Belfast

just about what he’s worth 20/25m would still be a good deal for us

  • 19 Mag52 // Aug 16, 2016 at 4:28 PM

    Lee Charnley Bunga.

Your suggestion a few posts ago that we could do with Peter Crouch is pretty well spot on.
If I remember correctly, he spent a lot of last season warming the bench, he’s always a threat with his head, and, imo, he’s even better with the ball on the ground.
He’s approaching the end of a good career and could go out on a huge high if he helped to get us promoted.
    How about it Rafa ?

I think Sissoko will go to Arsenal with us getting Giroud in return.

Can we get one thing straight. Some of us are critical of Rafa and the club. For example, I’m critical of transfer business and tactics. There’s more than a couple of mischief makers equating this as “Rafa Out”.

Just thought. What happened to the guy who fancied himself as a literary gift to the blog? He was on all the time ruffling feathers before my summer break from all things football. What was his name again?

  • 36 Uncertain Toon // Aug 16, 2016 at 5:26 PM

Uncertain toon is certainly not pal, now go consume yourself you little twerp, and leave the adults in peace.

Anyone who thinks its OK to criticise Rafa, ie they know better than him, needs a reality check. This man is a world class manager. We have to accept he’s human and as such will make mistakes; however if we don’t accept him and his decisions 100% we shall be a total laughing stock and he will walk away to make another club successful! FFS get over yourselves and accept we are in good hands!
    Howay Rafa !

Tsunki – from the last thread, I wonder if the army of whingers took part in Martoon’s original predictions? I’ll be curious to see where gorgonzola and his gang had us finishing, number of points, etc. Of course, gorgonzola knew that there was no WAY we’d win the last game because he’s either clairvoyant or an even bigger football expert than Rafa is. Or both. It’s probably both.

I would like Sissy sold as quick as possible and for Newcastle to try and get Ings into the club. I mean we sold Winny to them so they owe us a favor. Ings has been dropped down to the under 23 squad at the moment, so hopefully the club have some idea. The guy can score goals in the Championship he has proven that, I know he can score in the Prem so I am hopeful Newcastle are looking at that situation if they are interested in getting a proven goal scorer into the club.
