Tick Tock Tick Tock – Still No Bids For Midfielder

1:59 pm, Wednesday, August 17th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 32 Comments

Sky Sports is reporting today that Newcastle have not yet received any bids for their 27 year-old powerful France midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

As the transfer window is drawing to a close – there are two weeks left – the more that time goes by the more likely it is that Moussa will stay on Tyneside and look for his dream club to a Champions League club sometime in the future.

Moussa Sissoko – in France’s colors

There is speculation right now that Everton are in talks with Moussa’s reps in Paris and that Inter-Milan’s new boss Frank de Boer could be interested in the player, but it is thought that Sissoko is just one of a number of options for the Milan giants.

This is the piece Sky Sports just put out:

“Sky sources are telling us there have been no bids or even any enquiries for Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko.”

“Reports have suggested Everton have opened talks with the Championship club with a view to signing the 27-year-old France international.”

Moussa has played for Newcastle 133 times with 12 goals over the last 42 months, since signing on for us from Toulouse fora around 1.5M with only six months left on his contract at the French club.

He has played for all of the French Youth sides from U-16 through U-21 and 44 times for France, where he was one of their star players in the knockout rounds of the Euro 2016 Championships this summer when France finished runner-up to Portugal.

Comments welcome.

Yep it’s probably starting to dawn on the bloke that his agent is a lying toe rag.

  • 2 Mister Tuff // Aug 17, 2016 at 2:01 PM

wow – have I missed something here is Ian Toon a football agent.

  • 3 Belfast // Aug 17, 2016 at 2:03 PM

Yep Moussa Chelsea where on the phone on Monday, Arsenal Tuesday, Mourinho emailed me on Wednesday, Real Madrid where in touch on Thursday……

    Aye!!

  • 4 Mister Tuff // Aug 17, 2016 at 2:04 PM

I think once a few new players are finally brought in the team should progress. No need for experimentation -swapping this player and that player.
Benitez focusing on our best 11 should improve them – it will not make duds good players though.

Nope, Ian Toon is the editor of the daily planet. (Journalist)

There’s always one saga every window…

If Everton are really keen to get Sissoko, try and include some leverage on the Galloway deal. Say, 25 to 30million but a guaranteed option to buy the boy Brendan after / during the loan…?
Oh and what the hell, a job lot of the much sought after Sports direct mugs into the deal… 🙂

  • 8 Tsunki // Aug 17, 2016 at 2:25 PM

Poor old Moussa. He’s got a flat tyre and no spare…

  • 9 Ibizatoon // Aug 17, 2016 at 2:33 PM

Which reports suggest Everton have opened talks, clearly not “Sky sources” as they’ve said “no bids or even any enquiries”…

If they’re going to mention other reports, why not include the Real Madrid reports? Those are my favourites. Moussas too, I think.

I think the Walter Mitty approach to skills marketing hasn’t quite paid off here.

  • 11 Veltman // Aug 17, 2016 at 2:51 PM

Tuff – have you convinced that Benitez is the man based on his record and the signings?
Not trying to knock the man but there is a concern isn’t it? I will continue to enjoy and practice king Percy’s dance model though until he proves me wrong. 🙂

  • 12 Our Toon // Aug 17, 2016 at 2:51 PM

    Ibiza

Clubs are allowed to talk to his agent first, Everton are no doubt making enquiries into what sissoko is after, wages, signing on fee before going to the club with an offer. The whole world knows he wants to go so once terms are agreed with agent will an offer be forthcoming…..if any

veltman – you are a strange bird – not sure about you but in this instance I will reply to your post.

Benitez has a good CV which is his passport to the job. Now I’m not bothered really about past success – it is what he does now that counts.
He has to have the right players though – and he has not got them yet -well publicised (and hopefully true).
Have to say though, also taking into account the above, that we have not started well at all -(probably to cautious and powder puff attack with garden gnomes and no creativity.)

The next 3 signings have to be good and the missing jigsaw pieces otherwise we will struggle. Will Penfold/Tubbs back Benitez to spend more or will they revert to their prior dishonesty and say things were done when they were not.

Good next signings -quality I think will allow Benitez to “hone” the best players to play better as a team – via correct tactics/coaching.

Has to be said though – time date now there is nothing much to shout about – still waiting -as we all have done for years.

Shame with Sissoko, imagine if he had played with the same level of passion and commitment as he did on his debut against Chelsea in most of his games. That’s all we asked of him, seems like he got fed up with the club pretty quickly. He has so much talent but no commitment to us over the last few years so we rarely see it. Its actually appalling what he has done to our club.

  • 15 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Aug 17, 2016 at 3:09 PM

Who do you guys think Rafa is building the team around? I have no f clue lol. I don’t think he does either.

  • 16 Ibizatoon // Aug 17, 2016 at 3:09 PM

OurToon…I would have thought that would be covered under “enquiries”, but maybe it’s official enquiries to the club they are referring to?

  • 17 Mister Tuff // Aug 17, 2016 at 3:12 PM

veltman – seems the King Percy Dance Club has quite a few members (usual suspects).
could have our own blog version of Strictly Come Dancing (is that what they call it -don’t really watch shyte on the telly.)
    Keep practicing and remember :-
“Yo get down and do dem funky moves”.

  • 18 Veltman // Aug 17, 2016 at 3:29 PM

Tuff – that king Percy statement of mine was supposed to be sarcasm with smiley at the end.I
Forgot that smiley.Just to gain your take on the situation regarding the poor start. Not to start Percy nonsense at all.

Ian Toon is the editor of the daily planet.

Aah Perry White – the guy who thinks Superman is a shite reporter.

Not an alter ego then ?

Quite possibly Sissoko for this season

  • 21 Munster Mag // Aug 17, 2016 at 3:46 PM

I have been disappointed with rafa so far and have said so plenty of times. Yes he needs his own team but he is supposed to be a good coach and has spent 50 mill. Surely he can do better? Hopefully a win tonight and we can get going. Or two more defensive midfielders as he cant depart from his 4231??

  • 22 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Aug 17, 2016 at 3:56 PM

    Young Burnley from magpie?? Lol.

Maybe, would Sissoko perform? Or more likely sulk and not perform?

  • 23 toon kk // Aug 17, 2016 at 4:02 PM

    Munster
I agree, but like you say a win may change opinions. For all our squad lacks quality in cirtain areas it still stronger than many.
Rafa’s style of football doesn’t suit our standard of players. Imo our slow tactics simply does not work in the championship.
I honestly think he’ll walk if things don’t improve soon.
The championship is completely different to the premier league. A far more direct approach is a must.

  • 24 Ibizatoon // Aug 17, 2016 at 4:08 PM

Munster…Do you think you’re judging Rafa by a higher set of standards than previous managers? With greater previous achievement comes greater expectation?

I get what you’re saying with Rafa, but surely you can see why you’re getting this current “Rafa basher” tag with the constant “worried and disappointed with Rafa” posts. Give it a year and we’ll have to get you checked in to whichever clinic took Catchy in.

It’ll be a new wing mind. The Pardew wing was full many moons ago.

  • 25 Ibizatoon // Aug 17, 2016 at 4:15 PM

toon kk…I haven’t been able to watch too much of this season, or pre-season, due to work. From what I’ve read though, it’s the directness that has been a big issue. We haven’t been playing (don’t have?) the strikers for a direct approach. Perhaps when Mitrovich is back from suspension.

I will say, for the tactical genius Rafa is, it’s fairly well documented, one would expect more. However, it is very early days and he hasn’t been given a fair crack yet, not by a long shot.

The mindset of the whole club has been off for some time. He’s only been here 5 months, 2 of which were trying to avoid relegation (yes, unsuccessfully), that is simply not enough time to deal with everything that needed attention. He hasn’t even had a full window to start making his team yet.

He is a defensive coach though. With the right personnel that isn’t a bad thing.

What it boils down to for me, is his dignity. When he speaks I don’t cringe. I don’t just want to believe him, I do.

  • 26 Toonces // Aug 17, 2016 at 4:15 PM

Have just been thinking about some names that seem to be fringe players at their current clubs and maybe could be brought into Rafa’s side. Most are probably pie in the sky, but this is just for fun. So…

Schlupp. Can play left back and has a lot of pace and strength. Seems unsettled at the Foxes and has tried for a move to West Brom but Ranieri has blocked it.

Ings. Doesn’t seem likely to get any meaningful minutes for Klopp. Maybe Europa League could get him some time but other than that he just just seems to be cover should an injury happen.

Berahino. Winding down his contract at West Brom and Pulis seems to have him in the shop window. The big clubs don’t seem to want him. Maybe he could be convinced by Rafa to join his project at the Toon?

Moses. Must be frustrated again at Chelsea. Another loan with option to buy? Maybe Rafa can sell him on his project too.

There are some other names already mentioned – Ings was mentioned by others too – but Crouch, Abel Hernandez, maybe Gnabry could do a job.

And we need to play Tiote. Would be like a new signing! 🙂

Any Stream Links For Tonights Game? Or Will There Be No Stream ?

  • 28 toon kk // Aug 17, 2016 at 4:29 PM

    Ibizatoon
There’s so many new players come in getting them to gel quickly will be tough. But some of Rafa’s decisions have to be questioned.
It is early days. But I do think Rafa has great quality’s as a manager, in the championship with our powerless players and our same weaknesses of no cutting edge, lack of effort and a poor defence he’s going to struggle.

  • 29 Charlie in the Gallowgate // Aug 17, 2016 at 4:30 PM

can anyone tell me at home why we play with 4 defenders and 2 holding midfield players.

    Why not go for:
3 at the back two full backs and centre half
    1 holding midfield player
    4 across midfield
    2 up-front

    or even
    3 defenders
    4 midfield
    3 attack

instead of being defensive and worrying about the opposition ??

I have a feeling that we are waiting for players to become available at premiership teams who are waiting on replacements before letting fringe players go

The penny will drop with Benitez he is a manager who will try different formations and players until he gets results although we just dont have enough options for me as we only have 1 proper winger in Richie !!

  • 31 AncientC // Aug 17, 2016 at 4:43 PM

It should be a very good game tonight. I watched Reading a few times last season, they were a much better side than their final table position (17th) indicated.

Reading I expect will attack from the start, they lost their last away fixture to Wolves 2-0, but they had 66% possession to Wolves 34%, their passing was also much better than Wolves.

  • 32 AndyMac // Aug 17, 2016 at 6:56 PM

Sissoko will end up at Palace and he’ll stink the place out too !
