Newcastle Fans React On Twitter To Second Successive Win

6:11 pm, Saturday, August 20th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 31 Comments

Newcastle fans took to Twitter after our second win in just four days and Newcastle were resolute at the back and the defense played very well indeed.

After the game the Bristol City manager Lee John son said that Newcastle put up a brick wall after our goal.

It’s good we can do that – not true in out first three games so progress is being made on the training filed and the Rafa effect is starting to show through.

Dwight Gayle fires home brilliantly after 20 minutes

Nufc83, the last goal we scored like that was Mitro vs Norwich, Sissoko with the assist. It was very similar

Yes I get that but he’s proper swapping out pretty much the whole team every 4 days so no-one but the keeper and Gayle have played all the games…it’s the sort of thing you do pre-season not every other game in the proper season.

I have every faith in the guy…just don’t understand what he’s doing that’s all! ?

nufc-83 just saw it. We’ll consider it closed now. Thanks for addressing the issue.

  • 6 Nufc-83 // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:15 PM

Sutty thanks for that bud. In general terms though this type of goal/play is something we have lacked for years probably since Bellamy.

The palace mid week league cup game is home to blackpool, poordew’s record in that doesn’t seem to get teams knockout in first match with a run like he does have this year could be a different story.

If he wants to stop that run of PL failures to win then he’ll want to win the next game as it’s bournmouth, if he doesn’t win that game he might be without a win until december

I think it’s because he knows what more signings he has lined up .

  • 9 Nufc-83 // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:16 PM

No problem paul I guess I just have bad days and act a twat myself lol.

  • 10 NUFCPaul // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:16 PM

Manxpie – Kets accused someone of being an incestuous paedophile and then acted like it was no big deal. We’ve all called him out on it but he just ignored the issue and then even went on to say he’s got ‘seventeen lasses on the go’. He’s a disgusting pig who’s living in a fantasy world.

    20manxpie // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:12 PM

so wats kets said then intrigued now like

i wonder how townsend is feeling so far?
saved from the crap heap getting 50000 fans singing his name to that shite lol

  • 12 toonking // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:17 PM

If pardew ever expected win something it would be like stating gateshead will win the premier league in less that 20 years

  • 13 Ron Knee // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:18 PM

Rafa moves in mysterious ways …!

  • 14 NUFCPaul // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:19 PM

nufc-83 we all make mistakes. I’m hardly perfect myself and I always liked your posts before that incident. I look forward to seeing more football talk from you because you do make valuable contributions to the blog, unlike others! 🙂

  • 15 toonking // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:20 PM

how is townsend actually feeling, he decides to leave newcastle now that we in the championship and joins a club more than likely in the championship next season or atleast if pardew remains in charge.

  • 16 NUFCPaul // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:21 PM

manxpie – you’ll have to trawl back through the live match thread to see what he wrote because nobody is going to want to repeat what he said. There’s no coming back from that. Expect him to disappear and reappear under a new name.

  • 17 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:22 PM

The 17 lasses is true. I am harmless.

  • 18 manxpie // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:22 PM

bloody hell cheers paul is it the same kets?
its usually just crazy transfers and hate for colback and dummett

  • 19 sparky55 // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:24 PM

    Amen to that brother!

My concern is there’s no way he can guarantee anyone else will come…surely he should be bedding in what he’s got and if someone comes in that improves the team then great

  • 20 Nufc-83 // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:25 PM

The one thing that I was gutted about was Townsend as him and Richie on the wings would be outstanding. Hopefully palace go down we go up and then grab him back lol.

  • 21 toonking // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:25 PM

live tread posts 140 and 143

coming back under a different name shouldn’t take to long to spot his post stand out so easily from the rest.

Can’t wait to see Mitrovic next weekend, where is the best position for him to play alongside Gayle, hope Benitez play them both so if one dosent score then the other one will and vice versa in other matches, like Yorke and Cole use to do for Man Utd.

  • 23 Blackley and Brownlie // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:32 PM

Just been to John Smiths to watch Huddersfield go top of the league in front of 20,001. And just watched the video of Gayle’s goal at Bristol City. That’said the sort of finishing Huddersfield needed from their front men instead of having to rely on a defender and midfielder.

  • 24 Jib // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:33 PM

Anyone watching Barca v Betis ?
    Another Messi master class !

  • 25 Blackley and Brownlie // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:38 PM

We’ll have to be wary of the long throw when we face Barnsley. They do it like Stoke used to.

  • 26 toon kk // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:39 PM

Why do people keep wittering on about P45 and palace? Pards is the Past. Who gives a fk about palace anyway?

What a goal from Gayle, Mitro might learn a thing or two from him, top class control and finish. manx, why would I have to read the small print of my bet on Gayle to be top scorer?

  • 29 manxpie // Aug 20, 2016 at 6:45 PM

brighton, derby, qpr, wolves and villa are our next 5 games
we need at least 9 from them and hopefully 6 from wolves and brighton to keep them close
tough month ahead thats for sure

On the train back from the game, here are my comments:
    1. I’m done with Sels – I’ve been to every match so far and have been watching him closely in all of them and see little to inspire confidence. He WILL cost us games if he carries on with this form. He’s aerially atrocious and opts to punch even when being challenged by a 5ft10 fat lump like Tomlin. Then he gets caught in no man’s land neither either stay in your line or go to the ball – no half measures. In the whole game, I only saw him direct the defence once. A keeper has the best view of an attack and should be integral in setting up the defensive positions. His communication is poor and by all accounts it is not a language issue because he speaks English. Also he seems to lack a footballing brain, in the final 20 minutes Lascelles had to tell him 5+ times to kick to the corner to waste more time because all his kicks were going straight and just being immediately collected by their keeper. Darlow has to play!
    2. Gayle, Ritchie and Hayden continue to impress.
    3. Solid and good games from Mbemba, Lascelles, Anita and Clark.
    4. Gouffran could be a very useful player for us this season. He was always open and worked hard in defence. Only issue is his lack of left foot meaning all attacks were slowed down when he had to cut back on to his right.
    5. Midfield creativity and a general lack of physicality remain an issue. Diame showed glimpses and his ball to Gayle was superb for the goal but he wasn’t ever close enough to Gayle. Our reliance on wing play (particularly Ritchie) is useless.with Gayle as a sole striker. Mitrovic will be able to help with this but Diame should have been able to do more today. He was always just too late to get in to the box.

Anyway, there is still a lot to improve but a win is a win and a clean sheet is invaluable.

9 is an under acheavement. That means 3 wins and 2 loses.
Or 2 Wins and 3 Draws.

We should be wanting to get 10-12
    3 Wins + 1 Draw + 1 Lose
    3 Wins + 2 Draws
    4 Wins + 1 Lose

We need to keep at least a 65% success rate this season. We had a success rate of 74% last time we were in the Championship.
9 out of 15 points is just 60%.
