Newcastle In Negotiations For Talented Young Player

8:10 am, Sunday, August 21st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 18 Comments

There are various reports that Newcastle are interested in signing 22 year-old Utrecht striker Sebastien Haller, but there are other clubs also after the impressive young French striker.

Sporting Lisbon, Monaco and Everton are the other clubs said to be interested in the player

Sebastien only joined Utrecht last summer from Auxerre on a permanent basis, but he had a great season and in 40 appearances for his Dutch club he scored 24 goals and had 6 assists.

Rafa has said he wants to bring in a big striker and Haller seems to fit the bill at 6ft 2ins tall and he’s rated at around £8M and that is well within Newcastle’s budget.

The difficulty for Newcastle will be to persuade the 22 year-old that his future lies at Newcastle and initially in the English second division.

The player wants to move to the Premier League, so Newcastle’s challenge is to persuade him to spend one season in the Championship first.

Tottenham were favorites to sign him earlier in the year but that deal did not go through and earlier in the summer Everton were the favorites to sign him.

L’Equipe, France Football and Voetbal International are reporting he is Newcastle’s top striker target and that Newcastle are already negotiating for his transfer.

Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke 04 were clubs also linked with the player earlier this year.

Haller has represented France 45 times at various youth levels and he’s scored 21 goals, so he looks like a top striker in the making and exactly what Newcastle need this season.

A player who can improve under Rafa Benitez and be ready to take the Premier League by storm – hopefully next season, assuming all goes according to plan.

Newcastle beat Bristol City 1-0 yesterday on the road and that goes with the 4-1 home win against Reading on Wednesday night.

Hopefully we are now off and running in the Championship and certainly the performance yesterday was a gutsy one from the Newcastle team and just what wee needed to get our first away win since last December.

What do you think.

Comments welcome.

    JFA@16……last thread re Gini

I watched the Liverpool game live last night and naturally took particular interest Wijnaldums performance.

Whoever gave him a rating 4 was generous to say the least. I think I can count on one hand, the numbr of times his name was mentioned.

Hopefully Ed will get rid of this idiot once and fir all. Thank you for the support of fellow bloggers on this matter.

And what is wrong with that?

Someone in a newspaper gave him a rating of 4 out of 10.

I watched the game and probably heard his name mentioned 5 or less times during the match.

I would have thought he merited significantly less than 4 for his contribution to the game.

Your point regarding my post being?

Liverpool were away from home, no wonder they lost, Gini only fancies it at home or vs bigger teams……it will have been like playing with 10 men for most of the game, Klopp won’t put up with that for long.

thanks for that. Hopefully so. The blog doesnt need to see crap like that.

and people want to hang on to him looking more and more like a great deal for us

Liverpool are again the subject of a £800 million Chinese government backed takeover bid , probably because they play in lucky red. That’s a scary proposition for football and one that Mike Ashley can only dream of. Everton might as well close down or merge with Tranmere Rovers.
With Players for the Premier League being traded between £50m and £100m makes you wonder what’s going on.

Not shooting the messenger but I take any report from the daily mail with a huge dose of salts. I do think Janmaat will leave though. Tiote too. Sissoko if they get 30 million. Riviere. I’m not at all convinced by sels so I’d keep all our keepers but loan out the youngsters.

Seems to be more players potentially leaving than coming in.
Hopefully Rafa will be addressing this in the last few week of the transfer window.
Galloway or Gibbs at left back
Burke or Ghazi in a Px with Krull to Ajax
