Sissoko Reported Close To Leaving Newcastle

4:43 pm, Sunday, August 21st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 195 Comments

France Football are reporting that Inter-Milan are getting close to signing Newcastle’s French International midfielder Moussa Sissoko and are now ready to bid €35M for the 27 year-old, which is about £31M.

Moussa Sissoko’s reps have been in negotiations with Inter over the last few days for the powerful midfielder who wants to leave Newcastle – and it seems that a deal may be very close.

The report is that terms have finally been agreed between Inter and the player and the next step is to formally bid for the player.

Moussa Sissoko – not happy at Newcastle

Inter-Milan’s first choice was Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Mario who was priced at €45M by the Portuguese club.

That’s about £40M so it makes Moussa’s price look fairly cheap.

France Football are saying that Inter have moved in for Sissoko and may have finally given up on trying to sign Joao Mario for a whopping €45M.

The 44 times capped French International has been pushing for a move from Newcastle this summer, but he would have preferred to remain in the Premier League, but it seems no English club is interested in him at the £35M fee Newcastle are asking.

If the fee Inter are willing to pay is €35M (£31M), we would be surprised if Newcastle don’t accept the deal and allow the player to join Frank de Boer in Italy.

Moussa has been a pain and sometimes an embarrassment to the Newcastle club over the last two years, and he could finally be leaving Tyneside.

We saw yesterday that we already have a ready-made replacement at the club in 29 year-old Mohamed Diame.

Diame is much like Sissoko in his approach and the powerful runs he can put in,  but he has more of an end product than Moussa has.

Yes, he’s probably a better player and certainly more consistent.

Comments welcome.

Please let it be so. I am losing the will to live just a little more every time I see or hear his name. Be gone charlatan!

Quite funny that pic, looks like he’s had his favourite toy taken from him.

Will believe it when I see his miserable mug in a black and blue striped strip.

    GTFO our club ASAP please!!!

  • 7 NUFCPaul // Aug 21, 2016 at 4:51 PM

Joel Campbell loaned to Sporting and Andy Carroll out for six weeks so there’s two striking options off the table, not that I’d have taken either of them, I’ve just seen them both mentioned on here once or twice.

  • 8 NUFCPaul // Aug 21, 2016 at 4:52 PM

Repost – Let’s start saving up our pennies to buy a banner to fly over the Stadium of Sh*te at the end of the season. What goes around comes around!

  • 9 santon3 // Aug 21, 2016 at 4:52 PM

i just fear fees agreed but stupid sisso and agent f@ck up the whole deal about wage.

  • 10 santon3 // Aug 21, 2016 at 4:52 PM

    wage and stupid agent fee

  • 11 NUFCPaul // Aug 21, 2016 at 4:53 PM

Imagine Sissoko at Yaya Toure’s birthday party when the birthday cake didn’t appear. Tantrums everywhere!

  • 12 NUFCPaul // Aug 21, 2016 at 4:56 PM

santon – it’s hard to know how desperate he is to leave versus not getting the exact financial package for himself and his snake of an agent uncle (or whatever family member he is). Can he take the chance to dig his heels in for an equal wage or more and risk having Inter walk away? With only two weeks to go in the transfer window and Rafa saying nobody is leaving on the last few days he’d be taking one hell of a gamble to reject their offer.

  • 13 NUFCPaul // Aug 21, 2016 at 4:59 PM

Interesting to note that Inter finished 8th last season so misery guts won’t be getting that Champions League footy he was craving. Still, don’t let that put you off.

  • 23 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 21, 2016 at 5:17 PM

Thauvin’s a great player. We should’ve kept him. Him and Cabella were good technical players. We need more. We need more pace and creativity. A left wing back is a must.

  • 24 sing in the corner // Aug 21, 2016 at 5:19 PM

    Springy @17

I hope Darlow gets his place back, haven’t seen anything to suggest Sels is the better keeper.

So who out of sissoko, de jong, riviere, tiote, janmaat, krul, saivet, ameobi, vuckic, bigi will leave before the end of the window?

Can hardly say thauvin was a great player from what we seen of him…i was hoping we would keep him to have a look at him, especially since we were struggling for quality…but he obviously doesn’t have the will to fight and try so good luck and goodbye

Brady is not a left back but I’ve always liked his drive. I’d take him good team player. Thauvin and caBella not suited to this league as pair thin. You could see when they got tackled it was like a school boy getting flattened. You need skill, pace and power in this league. Not at all upset they’ve gone. The French league is nowhere near as tough or good. I’m hoping we get those attributes before the window shuts.

Have we gone from exaggerating our outrage of sissoko not wanting to play in the championship to exaggerating our outrage of a poorly judged joke from a fellow commenter ?

Kets has never been aggressive towards anyone on this blog and isnt a troll.

Lets just accept it was a bad joke and move on

outrage on here is like sometimes like some sort of hysteria.

  • 62 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:18 PM

Some things should never be said mate, not even as a bad joke, though I fail to see even a bad joke in suggesting a fellow blogger is intimate with his young daughter.

A few threads back Kets had the cheek to ask bloggers to give him some respect, why should we he obviously shows none to other bloggers.

I get what you are saying, and if he had apologised from the off, instead of going on about getting some gash, or his 17 girlfriends maybe (doubtfully) your point would carry more weight, the fact that his half hearted (as that is what it was) apology came only after he was reported to Ed shows he has no remorse.

He should have been banned, any other site and he may have been on a charge.

  • 63 lukes26 // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:24 PM

i highly doubt he knew the daughter was 11 when he made the joke..unless he knows the poster personally; which i doubt.

  • 64 lukes26 // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:27 PM

dont get me wrong…i disagree with just about everything Kets posts…like Brady most definitely plays as a LB and a very good one at that

  • 65 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:33 PM

The thing is Expat said his 11 year old daughter I think, but the age is not important is it?

The facts are very clear, and documented, Expat is extremely upset and rightly so, not only that Luke, but when you throw that sort of mud around some of it is bound to stick.

Why should Kets get off scott free after causing a blogger such upset?

I was on that day but missed the post and wondered what everyone was going on about, when I scrolled back to look I was horrified to think he could type such stuff.

  • 66 Jail for Ashley // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:34 PM

Another Carr disappointment! He’s so far made Mike Ashley 60M+ from his talent spotting and it would have been muchore if they’d taken the 18M for Tiote he was never worth instead of greedily holding out for more. If they’d signed Bony, Remy or Gomis even instead of pi $$ing about Riverie wouldn’t have been anywhere near the place.

  • 69 Hail Wor Ashley // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:43 PM

Somebody better tell Norwich Brady isn’t a LB, played enough games there last season, one I particularly remember watching as it was live on Sky against Liverpool, in which he got MOTM, oh, started there today too.

Streets ahead of any of ours and much preferable to an inexperienced Galloway.

  • 70 jazzyp // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:46 PM

Yeah Riviere a total success story for Nufc. How many managers has he played under now ?? And how managers have rated him ??.
Even the Great Rafa wants him gone. Personally he has nothing at our club apart from take up a valuable space in the first team.
We have Mitro..Arma..Gayle and hopefully a new forward coming in over the next few weeks, So like i said the sooner the failure has gone the better

  • 82 Jail for Ashley // Aug 21, 2016 at 7:59 PM

It was born from the idea that we could buy them cheap, get six months to three years without giving them a pay rise and then sell them on without worrying about losing value to last year of contract. Just that no one thought about what would happen when they were shit.

  • 87 jazzyp // Aug 21, 2016 at 8:07 PM

Agree bud, But it has saddled us with players that should have been shipped out long before now.
We lace them with such massive contracts and salaries that it makes no sense for them to go anywhere else as the French…Dutch leagues as well as many more cannot get anywhere near the salaries.
Marveaux was another example of a player prepared to sit out his contract unless Nufc matched or paid out his salary when even out on loan.
hopefully under Rafa this will be another mistake to be addressed in the coming years that have flawed for far to long

  • 88 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 8:08 PM

Leaving is not the answer mate, that just opens the blog up to the likes of Kets and Jib etc etc to continue to say what they like without challenge.

At times like this the victims need our support mate, in this case Expat, if we were all to naff off what kind of message do we send to the other decent posters?

    Wandering Geordie,

I think it’s probably because I have stayed out of the debate that some acne-ridden little no-mark in a Pot Noodle-stained tee-shirt has taken until now to mention bitch-slapping, or drama queens or handbags.
They are a type, Sobadithurts being a particularly tragic example of those who pop up at these junctures, making an impact that simply can’t and don’t make otherwise.
Jib might claim they are the silent majority, but only a Jib would imagine a silent majority made in his image. God help us.

This is what Rafa actually said

“I was talking with Adam before the game and he won’t be involved. We are analysing what we have to do.”

“If we bring in a striker with more experience he will have a chance to go on loan. We still have to decide. I will talk with him on Sunday and see where we are.”

  • 155 Spoof // Aug 21, 2016 at 9:59 PM

Changing the topic, not that there appears to be a topic at the minute, this Haller fella who were supposed to be interested in is a 6tf2″ target man, now Rafa prefers to play with a quick and mobile striker but can and does at times utilise a target man if he needs to mix it up a bit, but he has Mitro to do that and I just cannot see Rafa playing two target men at the same time, so where would signing Haller leave Mitro, it wouldn’t look to promising for Mitro if we did sign this lad.

  • 156 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:03 PM

It may be that he wants to play them in alternate game to keep them fresh though, we have a lot of fixtures as you know and more when we include the cups.

Also this will give Mitrovic competition that may enhance his game and work rate, not that he doesn’t do his best now.

  • 157 SPRINGY // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:15 PM

if the games mitro has missed has shown, we need options up front, and competition…theres times in games when bringin on a big bloke up front for the last 10-20 mins instead of a pacey mobile forward can decide the game,we wont always be able to play football and may need to just lump it up front and fight for it….and mitro is the only big bloke we have.

  • 158 NUFCPaul // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:16 PM

Spoof – with the sheer number of games coming thick and fast this season Rafa is going to need two players for each position so he can effectively have two teams that are capable of winning games. Haller and Mitro would switch as Rafa rotates the team to keep those legs fresh.

  • 159 Spoof // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:16 PM

Yes I can see what your saying but the way I am looking at it I don’t think that either Mitro or Haller would be a regular starter, as we know Rafa prefers to play with just one striker and a quick and mobile one at that and seeing how well Gayle has started it seems very unlikely that he won’t be the main choice, so why would he want two target men, if we were to get another striker I would have thought it would have been another quicker type of striker to directly challenge/cover Gayle and continue with Mitro if and when he needs to change tactics, getting another target man for me is a bit baffling, unless it’s to replace Mitro or Rafa has looked at the championship and is now looking at tweaking his preferred set up, and changing his set up seems unlikely, so as I say, for me it’s a bit baffling.

  • 163 Setchell // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:22 PM

  • 164 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:24 PM

Whilst both Haller and Mitrovic are big lads, and no doubt will be used as target men especially in tough games I think Haller is a bit more mobile and has a little more pace than Mitrovic.

Rafa has said he picks the players he thinks he need for each individual game. Mitrovic is very good a holding the ball up, and allowing the team to get out, Haller is more mobile, and both are good headers of the ball.

I think both will be used if we manage to get Haller in, but it will depend on the opposition.

  • 165 SPRINGY // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:28 PM

we have also been linked with mobile forwards as well, so it could just as easily be a mobile striker coming in….or both….i do know what ya mean though,we will just have to wait and see.

  • 166 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:29 PM

Iv’e not seen him play, but read a little about him when we were linked, He sounds like a good acquisition, and will compliment the team, as others have said we have missed Mitrovic, but he will be back now, and if Haller comes in we have cover when Mitrovic gets his next red card. lol

  • 167 SPRINGY // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:32 PM

hope people dont expect to much from mitro to soon….yes he’s been training, but sharpness comes from games,so he’s not going to be firing from the off.

  • 168 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:35 PM

I agree mate, but we have players who can deliver a decent cross now, so I expect him to be getting some service this year that he can get his head on.

Ever the optimist I live in hope.

  • 169 Spoof // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:35 PM

I hope your right, I really do, but I have this horrible little nagging feeling that Rafa wants rid of Mitro and Haller is to replace him.

If Haller can do both jobs, target man and mobile then that’s fine, but strikers of that type who are good are rare and usually expensive, very expensive, ordinarily you end up with a Riviere, don’t forget that he is alleged to be a target man who was converted from being a winger so you would expect a bit of mobility from him, in one sense you could say he is mobile as he runs like hell away from the ball when it comes to him as he hasn’t a clue what to do with it lol

  • 170 Setchell // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:36 PM

Hopefully I will get to see him in the flesh shortly!

  • 171 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:39 PM

Ah but Riviere was always at his best when playing on the left of a front three, he is not a lone striker, and has never been able to play that role. The biggest disappointment for me with him was the lack of power in his shots. He got into the right place, but when he got the ball he just couldn’t finish, shame really.

  • 172 Spoof // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:40 PM

I haven’t came across links to that many strikers to be honest, apart from Bas Dost, but he’s more of a target man than Mitro, I may have missed one or two of the links and if I have then I hope that Danny Ings is one of them, he would be ideal imho as he would be a direct threat for Gayle and we could still mix it up with Mitro

totally off the soko topic- looking at the way our athletes have totally emmbarresed our national football team , apart from the obvious , why cant our footballers look at our athletes and ask , how the f”k do you do it??
A few years ago , a sports science degree was looked upon as waste of time – just a big joke, however, the athletes have proved everyone who had that thought – wrong . Apart from the funding team GB have had , sports science has palyed a major part in their rise over the last 8 yrears, yeah, we have sports science coaches at clubs now but are they good enough and are clubs doing enough to bring out the best in our footbsallers. It can be done, its been proved so why are we still totally shyte when it comes to our national side ? i havnt got an answer, has anyone ??

  • 179 Spoof // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:49 PM

what is the problem with Riviere though, when we first signed him I was delighted as he is a big strong lad, holds the ball up well and is very quick, he has got everything that you need to be a huge success in the PL but for some reason it just never happened for him, why was/is that, it just doesn’t add up does it, I know that all players have there preferred positions and preferred set ups but with what Riviere has within his make up he should be useful in all areas of the strike force, but he has been very poor, even his better days have been poor.

  • 180 SPRINGY // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:50 PM

Yeah, I recall the Forestieri and Wells link now that you mention it, as you say we will have to wait and see.

  • 183 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:57 PM

He was played as a lone striker mate, it’s a position he cannot play, he spent most of his time isolated up front while we defended (as usual).

When in France he played on the left of a front three, his best position, but never got that chance here, same as Gouffran, a striker who was played on the left wing or defensive midfield.

Riviere lost his confidence and that showed in his poor finishing when he did get a chance and the lack of power in his shots.

Under the previous regime a lot of incoming players were playing in un-natural positions, destroying their confidence. Riviere held the ball up well, brought other players into the game but lost his ability to finish.

I liked him and thought he would do well for us, but coming into a new team (low on confidence) and getting isolated upfront destroyed him imo.

  • 184 Spoof // Aug 21, 2016 at 10:57 PM

It has happened before but usually it’s a request from the club as there stadium changes haven’t been finished, however the reason why this has happened to Liverpool is beyond me, computer error perhaps.

  • 185 Spoof // Aug 21, 2016 at 11:04 PM

from day one he looked like a player without confidence and being where he was, out of position in a poor side he was never going to get that confidence back, but even so I still think that he could and should have made a better contribution, but you never know, if we don’t get the striker that Rafa wants then Riviere may get another chance, unless of course he gets a move away, but Rafa has shown that he will use players even if they may be leaving as that does seem to be the case with both Janmaat and possibly Gouffran.

  • 186 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 11:05 PM

Mo Diame will be an ‘important player’ for Newcastle, believes Benitez – here’s why

I do like the way he says “they have to make it difficult for me to pick the team”, “complaining is not the way they know that”

  • 187 firebug666 // Aug 21, 2016 at 11:08 PM

Aye as far as Rafa is concerned, if they have a contract they can play, I think Sissoko in an exception, maybe Rafa doesn’t trust him, He said he is not fully fit, but I suspect that is a little white lie. Bet he can pass a medical for a move.

I feel that Rafa would pick Sissoko if he thought that he was in the best position to help us win a game, but with Sissoko’s head being everywhere apart from helping us I doubt that Rafa feels that he could help us, which is why this little white lie may have came across, if the truth was known and Rafa said he isn’t playing because his head isn’t in the right frame then Rafa would know what reaction there would be towards him, at times these little white lies can be for the best.

I know it’s way late to be wading into Ketsygate but I recall him arriving on our doorstep after being banned from last blog haunt after they all got fed up with his perceived trolling, i.e. his ludicrous player/transfer speculations, so they had a whip round and had the moderators show him the side door into the alley.

When everyone here took him on as the blog weirdo, he became an I situation, a harmless crank who cropped up with his offbeam ideas on football. Unfortunately from time to time he appeared to falter victim to something chemical, whether by the wrong dosage, illicit dosage, hormonal imbalance, alcohol or any combination of the above – and proceeded to type his darkest musings dredged from his perpetual virginal insecurity.

I think his comment was not so much ill-advised as inadvertent and influenced by a mental state you could kindly call the ultra-violet end of the spectrum. Not “intentional” in the conventional sense, and I believe he was sincere in apologising.

Having said that, I think our Ketsy has outworn his contribution to blog humour, outlived his use as a figure of quirky diversion, and out stayed his welcome.

Time to find a new blog, Ketsy. Ed – I know the controversy has not done the post rate any harm, but I think it’s time for the young Dr Strangelove to move on. I fear that things may get interesting if he doesn’t. On top of the multiples and nuisance posters the blog is turning into an embarrassing wreck.

Ed and Expat are not kids, both of them know how the majority feel about the comment, we as a group have made our views clear enough but should we not allow two mature men to sort this out as they see fit without a load of us telling them what they should do, can we please stop treating Ed and Expat as if they are numpties who need telling what they should be doing, lets have the decency to allow them to deal with as they see fit.

It was a woeful comment for sure, and hopelessly ill considered and inappropriate, silly and unthinking, but surely no-one, not even Expat can be suffering any lasting and deep offence or injury.

It was an abstraction, and I don’t recall him ever having stooped so low before.

Expat has rightly stood up for himself and his family. Ed has been notified. Kets has made an unfortunate fool of himself and he has apologised for it.

Let him post if he chooses to and treat him with the respect he’s asked for, or ignore him so long as it doesn’t happen again. He isn’t a WUM, he’s been posting on here for years.

Good riddance, I despise the bloke.
