Returning Star Praises Rafa – He’s The Best Manager

12:42 pm, Monday, August 22nd, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 30 Comments

Aleksandar Mitrovic will finally return to the Newcastle team for tomorrow night’s game against Cheltenham in the second round of the EFL Cup and it will be great to have Mitro back in the side.

The young striker has now served his four match ban for getting sent off twice last season, the second time being in the second half of the last game against Spurs.

The Slovakian International striker scored 9 Premier League goals last season in his first season in England and his style is well suited to the English way of playing football.

But you have just been kicked in the head son

We are also hoping that the 21 year-old can have a break-out season, because we will need players who can score goals for us.

Aleksandar has been interviewed today and he has said Rafa has had a big impact on him and other players too since he arrived last March.

This is what the young striker told the Chronicle today:

“Rafa coming in has had a big impact on me.” “Not just me, on every player.”

“We know we can learn a lot.”  “He’s had a big impact and we try to listen to him.”

“He knows how to win titles and cups and we have the best manager we could hope for.”

Benitez will likely give a number of players a run-out tomorrow night against Cheltenham, but it’s a game we have to win to ensure we can have a couple of decent runs in the two local cups this season.

But getting promoted straight back to the Premier League next May is job one this season.

Comments welcome.

    “Slovakian International striker”

    You mean Serbian!

    Picture Caption.

“And you WILL tidy that room, get all those dirty clothes of the floor and in the wash basket, and all those plates out from under the bed!”

that pic still not as bad as huffy sissoko’s squad pic!lol

    @gorgonzola – aren’t they the same? 😉

Mitro in every interview speaks like a man assured of his place in the side…
Looking forward to seeing how we line up after the window closes
I know 4-4-2 is a bit old school but a gayle/mitro partnership, Ritchie and another winger putting the balls in, Diame and Hayden dominating the middle etc sounds good to me

Henry couldnt be worse than Dummett at LB. If a PL club want Dummett then more fool them, as for why they wouldnt be after Henry than Dummett Id wager because they havent seen enough of Dummett and he is seen to have experience

Henry has been linked with big old clubs though

Well when u say it like that u rather kill my optomism

  • 7 SPRINGY // Aug 22, 2016 at 12:52 PM

the difference in that pic to sissoko’s…..mitro been told he cant play for newcastle, sissoko’s is he’s been told he must play for newcastle!

thought i’d ask your opinion mate, as i dont have enough knowledge of the lad to compare the 2 tbh.

New loan rules mean that players can’t be loaned out after the transfer window has closed, and players can’t be recalled before the next window opens. FIFA have finally got their way when it comes to closing the loophole that only England exploited with the ’emergency’ loan rules.

Any players coming in or leaving on loan must be done before the end of this window.

That was the photo when he was barely conscious against the mackems and still wanted to play. I think he’s like that most of the time though

Ah haha well am afraid ur at the wrong port mate Ive not seen much of him. I know he is very highly rated, fast and likes to get forward very young though

Id imagine Dummett is better at standing still and being a wall but that no where near enough anymore imo

  • 13 WWSBRD // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM

Ah didnt know that cheers…I guess Charnley will have to earn his limited wage then

  • 14 SPRINGY // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:01 PM

haha, nee bother mate,i seen him in the play offs last year in a game but that was it,he was the stand out player for them tbh…if a little lightweight….hard to get a good look at him.

If we are after a young left back, I’d rather go after Celtic’s Tierney. An outstanding prospect, already pushing Robertson for the let back Scotland berth, and will likely take it off him over the next couple of years.

They wanted to do it last season, but granted the league a one year grace period, which has now ended.

  • 17 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:04 PM

Just resign Santon. Great player. Just what we need.

  • 18 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:04 PM

Can’t believe the lunatics got rid of him.

  • 19 SPRINGY // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:05 PM

its going to be a hectic week or two if what you say is true with vuckic, bigi, saviet,de jong, arma, tiote, sissoko, janmaat, ameobi and whoever else all linked with moves away or on loan….plus whoever is to come in as well.

  • 20 G3 // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:05 PM

Coulda sworn blind he is Serbian

  • 21 WWSBRD // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:06 PM

Lightweight is a issue but he is very young…maybe not the answer for a starting LB then

Did he not just sign a new contract? Could be wrong

  • 22 JP...from The Rock // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:07 PM

We need more signings asap. We’re still light as a team. Haller, LB and Winger desprately needed. Hope Mitro scores a couple tmrw.

  • 23 Lilongwe Geordie // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:08 PM

Yes, he has. I missed that. A 5 year one, so as much as anything it is Celtic attempting to maximise their profit when he leaves. Oh well, next summer then after he is a year more experienced.

  • 24 BandB // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:08 PM

I asked someone for clarification of that rule just yesterday, as they had written something suggesting we might sort out some loans after the window closed. You are right. We have a week to identify and do deals for players still hoping for a loan move.

  • 25 BandB // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:09 PM

    Couldn’t agree more.
Santon would be an excellent signing.

  • 26 WWSBRD // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:13 PM

I see the sense in stopping the loaning outside the window but it will damage some players swings and roundabouts though

I just recall seeing ‘young Celtic starlet defender signs new contract’ so assumed…I could of looked it up but I couldnt be bothered haha

  • 27 jayphoto // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:14 PM

didn’t think much of Santon here… , his better games were at right back I thought, but as a player that is only a few good games away from any Italy squad, I can’t see him coming here anyway. A premier league move would see him having a chance at the national squad..

Would love to see us have a go for Ben Davies who’s not first choice at Spurs

Would cost a bit, but Robbie Brady at Norwich be a great signing

  • 28 SPRINGY // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:15 PM

aye he’s signed till 2021 on june 24th,you were right mate.

  • 29 Bradley // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:17 PM

Should be asking about taking Gibbs on loan with a view to permanent
Danny Ings is available for loan as well. Snap him up
8-10m bid for ince from Derby would be a decent signing for our LW

  • 30 SPRINGY // Aug 22, 2016 at 1:17 PM

santon was predictable with a weak left foot, liked the lad for his commitment and willingness to stay at newcastle, but thought he would of been a much better rb or rw/rwb….not for me now though, anyway thought he joined west ham a few weeks ago?
