DeAndre Yedlin Arrives In Newcastle For Medical – Photos

Here are photos taken at Newcastle Airport today of 23 year-old US International right-back DeAndre Yedlin arriving to have his medical at the club – so we suppose we have beaten Aston Villa to his signature – always assuming he passes his medical of course.

The photos were taken by the Chronicle’s Iain Bust – good job!

The fee is said to be around £5M.

27 year-old Brentford midfielder Alan Judge is also expected in Newcastle today to take his medical before signing on for the club – maybe both players will be announced tomorrow?

Look how short he is. Do we have any of the Belgian midget striker kit left? It should fit perfectly……

What’s up with all this bashing on players who haven’t even played yet?

On Judge, last I checked a leg break isn’t exactly a recurring injury so why that should be a concern I’ve no idea.

Just getting ready to go to the match tonight. Cup of tea and a kit kat. 😉 No idea what the team will be yet and not even prepared to guess. Not even sure what’s happening, but prepared to give Rafa the chance to get it right and confident he knows exactly what he’s doing. Regardless of the line up I fully expect a comfortable win. Looking forward to seeing the beast released at last. 😉 Looks like the only way to see the game is by going tonight, apart from highlights later. So, off we go! Howay the lads!!!

I’m very, very disappointed with Gamez. I thought he was the answer at one of the fullback positions. This goes beyond hairs up me arse springy mate. This is just too ridiculous. Still even if Yedlin is short and can’t defend I suppose it’s better than no fullback at all. Harrumph!!!!

I wonder how many more players we will be linked with in the time left.

Palermo left-back Achraf Lazaar is not only wanted by West Ham United, but also Rafa Benitez’s club Newcastle United.

Lazaar is not part of the Rosanero’s plans for this season and is trying to complete a transfer before deadline day.

West Ham have long been linked, but so far the move has not been finalised.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Benitez aims to make the most of the delays by diving in with his own offer.

Lazaar would be welcomed at Newcastle United in the English Championship – their version of Serie B.

The 24-year-old Morocco international spent his entire career in Italy at Varese and then Palermo.

How can you have a medical if your leg is broken? Do they just stare in your ear with a straw or something?

think gamez is just a minor knock but because its happened now its effected his early season preperation so he’s nowhere near match sharp….shit like this happens, especially with us…patience required mate..not a lot else you can do.

    Sandals AND socks? Haha.

If we get him I’ll be made up as I was a bit gutted we never bid after he looked the part in the world cup for the USA.

Still on holiday but flying back Thursday.

It’s been brilliant tbh and the people who work in the hotel make the holiday far more than anything else (think it was Tsunki who wanted info about it, will supply more once home because the WiFi is proper shite over here)

No, I don’t think they’re doing it for a larf Termijn but I’m concerned at this mucking about with the fullback position. Is Yedlin part of the answer? It’s going to be a while before we know. I think Rafa is still concerned about our defense. I would be as well. We should be cleaning up in the Champs.

The good thing is Yedlin can play both fullback positions, he has pace too, maybe a bit work on defending according to what people are saying, but we shall see.

Just saw a stats comparison of Yedlin vs Janmaat on another site. Janmaat wins both attacking and defending. Why do we want a poor man’s Janmaat? And why are we looking in Judge’s ear with a straw. Wait until he’s fit then give him a medical. Harrumph!

Munster, so would i mate, but he played last night for u23’s so i can’t see it. Looks like he’s relying on experience to get us up, so Arma will go out on loan. Let him get another 20 goals plus on his account. Got to be a Championship club or what’s the point? He hasn’t had the chance promised which is a disappointment, but i can see Rafa’s thinking. He is only 19 and he needs games. If he can’t give him a chance then loaning him is the only option. U23’s isn’t proper competition, so a loan will keep him progressing. Don’t agree myself, he’s a better finisher than Perez, who looks completely lost lately, but I’ll bow to his greater experience.

Soccer Sauce has been tweeting that Janmaat is off to Taxpayers FC for £11 million. Deal done
Das Bost doesn’t fancy the Championship and the Unwashed are favourites – he must be coming on a 6 month contract then!!!

Das Bost needs to think through his options …Sunderland manager David Moyes says he was being “realistic” when he told the club’s fans to prepare for another relegation battle.
The Black Cats have struggled for top-flight survival during the past four seasons and have lost their opening two Premier League games.
“There have been managers come and gone and everything has been very close to the bottom every season,” ( for 4 years ) said Moyes.
“I’ve said I want to change that but I can’t do that overnight.”

A USA Internationalist and hopefully Judge Dread know where the true faith is..

As weird as it sounds Yedlin is pretty good at heading the ball for his height. And he is fast and likes to get stuck in. I am all for this transfer.

Judge as well. Wonder who we’ll bring as ST though. Interesting times ahead.

Having watched quite a bit of US football, Im very familiar with yedlin

he’ll beat players constantly and can send in decent crosses. He’s just not very polished. Doesnt do link up play nearly as well as janmaat. If he’s not at full speed he’s uncomfortable

type of player youd want in the Championship, but maybe not in the EPL just yet

Just because you can run up and down on either side of the pitch doesn’t mean Yedlin can play either fullback position. He’s probably right footed. He’s got pace. He’s younger than Janmaat. Possibly he will improve under Rafa. Those are the pros I see. The cons are he’s small, and he’s relatively inexperienced (I don’t really count experience with Sunderland). Let’s wait and see.
