5th Player Goes Out On Loan For The Season

It’s been confirmed tonight that Tim Krul has gone out on loan to Ajax for the season, where he will take over from Netherlands number one goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, who has joined Barcelona for a fee of £11M that was announced earlier today.

Tim has been given a one year extension to his contract which now has two years to run and it’s not clear Tim’s career at Newcastle is over.

He is expected to return next summer and at that time Rafa Benitez will decide which of the four senior goalkeepers – Rob Elliot, Tim Krul, Karl Darlow or Matz Sels – will leave the club permanently.

Tim Krul – gone on loan to Dutch powerhouse Ajax

Here’s what Newcastle have put up on the web-site tonight:

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has joined Ajax on loan until the end of the season, after signing a one-year contract extension at St. James’ Park.

The 28-year-old has agreed to remain a Magpies player until the summer of 2018 but will spend the remainder of the 2016/2017 campaign with the Dutch giants, as he continues his recovery from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, suffered last October.

Krul joined Newcastle from ADO Den Haag in the summer of 2005, aged 17, and made his first team debut in November 2006, putting in a man-of-the-match performance at Palermo in the UEFA Cup.

After loan spells at Falkirk and Carlisle United, the stopper eventually established himself as a key part of United’s squad and was made first choice goalkeeper ahead of the 2011/2012 season.

Eight-cap Netherlands international Krul has made 185 appearances in all competitions during his time on Tyneside.

Here are the nine players brought in and the 14 players who have left the club so far this summer – in what is one of the busiest transfer windows ever at Newcastle United.

West Ham got too big for their boots. Small club with a big stadium (which has no atmosphere and just doesn’t look like a proper football stadium) and payet

We are still a few players short for this very long season in the championship. We need a striker, a winger and a central midfield player and we should go ok
