Newcastle Could Bring in West Ham Player On Loan

2:04 pm, Friday, August 26th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 48 Comments

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has said today that either 19 year-old Reece Burke or 17 year-old Reece Oxford will leave the club on loan before next Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

And since Newcastle had a reported interested in both players earlier this summer, especially in Oxford,  we suppose there’s a chance that Rafa could make a move for one of them to come in on loan for the season.

However, Rafa doesn’t seem to like to bring in young players without an option to buy – and we don’t think there’s any way that West Ham want to let either youngster leave the club anytime soon.

Burke can play at center-back or right-back and Oxford can play at center-back or defensive midfield, so perhaps Oxford would be better suited?

Both stand around 6ft 3ins tall – they build them tall these days.

Burke started for West Ham last night in the 1-0 home defeat to Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League play-off game and they were knocked out 2-1 on aggregate.

Oxford had started all three of the club’s previous Europa League games and now Bilic wants to send one of them out on loan to get first team games now they are out of European competition.

It’s a possible option for Rafa to bring in one of them – probably Oxford – who is one of the best young players in England today.

Comments welcome.

Can’t see it unless we lose 1. Think Hayden has started too well and colback, shelvey, diame and anita are all central midfielders aswell as Gamez , clark and mbemba all having played there in the past not to mention weve technically still got sissoko… west ham will want him a guarenteed starter…

  • 2 jayphoto // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:11 PM

Just a note on keepers- at every job hes had, Rafa has loved a madcap heart in mouth keeper…

  • 3 jayphoto // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:15 PM

Sels back in the belgium squad! Though when its martinez picking a defensive player you cant put much stock in it

  • 4 Mr Funk // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:15 PM

Achraf Lazaar could be on his way according to twitter rumours

  • 5 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:16 PM

He’s a CL manager in the championship, he targets titles and trophies not second division

Am not even confident we will be able to keep him through this season once managers start getting sacked and teams come calling. I see no way he stays if we fail to get promoted

  • 6 cyprus // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:17 PM

Don’t think Elliott is a shocker of a keeper. Most definitely that’s exaggerated. He won our player of the season award man. He may not be world class but he proved doubters wrong when he finally took his place.
In my mind, unfair assessment of the lad.

  • 7 Mr Funk // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:18 PM

An Italian journalist seems pretty confident –

  • 8 Blackley and Brownlie // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:19 PM

Looking forward to your best example of Blackas’ absurd buffoonery. No need for you to debate. Just stick it in quotes and it should speak for itself. Should be a good laugh.

  • 9 JamesToon // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:20 PM

If we lose Tiote then we’ll defo need to bring Oxford in on loan.

  • 10 Blackley and Brownlie // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:20 PM

Is it any more absurd and risible than your moniker?

  • 11 cyprus // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:27 PM

‘I see no way he stays if we fail to get promoted’

Neither do I. If he fails to promote us, he has no excuses. Unless he comes out and says I asked for this or that and didn’t get it. We gave him full responsibility which means he’ll get all the glory. It goes the same for blame.

He will have been given 56 games to shape a team.

Get my team back up Rafa. This season!

  • 12 jayphoto // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:29 PM

@cyprus – just not an elliott fan, in Newcastles case player of the season doesn’t stand for much in recent years on past winners.
For me elliott is very brave, and hes very good at stopping from point blank range but this could be because hes overweight. His physique and injury record suggests he either doesn’t train right or doesn’t eat right which i would expect from an elite level sportsmans to be mandatory. He gets plaudits because his bravey and attributes mean he makes impressive highlight reel saves but the guy doesn’t get the basics right. His command of his box is pretty poor, when we concede from this its usually blamed on a defender.
His decisions to come off his line are usually slow. Hel come out happily but because he takes longer to make a decision and is quite slow he often gets caught in no mans land. His shot stopping his pretty poor and he often doesnt get across his goal quickly for shors from range. When he does save them it looks worldclass because he dives right across due to slow feet and poor shape. It looks good but a better keeper would make it look simple.
He also lets too many shots go through him like against stoke away.
Hes a highlight reel keeper who makes standard saves look class for the cameras and some fans buy into this… He has good points, like i said he is very brave and fearless But give me a keeper like Harper, or even darlow for thar matter who isnt worldclass but does all the simple things right any day over elliot

  • 13 cyprus // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:35 PM

Fair points. Anyway I hope this new guy is better. He must be if he was chosen over the new Ajax keeper and Elliott, and Darlow, whom Forest fans really rate.

  • 14 jayphoto // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:37 PM

@cyprus he looked good in champions league last year?
Quite excited by woodman for the future. Looks an england keeper in the making

  • 15 Wayayman // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:48 PM

Anyone not in favour at the Hammers that we fancy (and fit!) to swap for Moussaka Sisko?

  • 16 Wayayman // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:50 PM

Would LOVE Reece-Oxford permantely by the way! He’s going to be absolute quality. Dont think for a second that Bilic would let him go though.

  • 17 Mister Tuff // Aug 26, 2016 at 2:53 PM

jayphoto your post ’12 was quite lengthy – could have just said he was a fat bastard.

  • 18 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:00 PM

This Lazaar rumour is picking up speed fingers crossed

  • 19 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:03 PM

2 wingers and a striker meant to be on the list aswell

Am amazed Hughes is still at Derby aswell

  • 20 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:04 PM

Could end up keeping Sissoko aswell Inter aren’t gonna be after him anymore apparently, what other interested clubs are there?

  • 21 G // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:04 PM

@19 Hughes has had some major injuries mate, I suspect nobody wants to take the risi until he has proven his fitness.

  • 22 G // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:06 PM

    Risk even, damn touchscreens

  • 23 lochinvar // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:07 PM

Sky/Whispers – seem to think that Christian Atsu of Chelsea is heading our way ?

Does this have any substance ?

  • 24 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:12 PM

Probably right mate but am still shocked no one has gone for him, even with injury history I expected some PL team to go for him

I’d be happy if we gambled on him tbh

  • 25 Belfast // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:14 PM

Wwsbrd Krul ain’t our best keeper.

Now back in yer box. 🙂

  • 26 lochinvar // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:17 PM

Imagine the face on Moussa if he doesn’t get his move unlike Gini, Townsend and Tim Krul ( albeit for different and good reasons )

Pan of tripe springs to mind

  • 27 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:19 PM

U have to keep up with the changes mate Given left

  • 28 PK-Norway // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:23 PM

Lazar and yedlin.. Finally fullbacks of my style. Pace and offensive thinking!

  • 29 Moonraker15 // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:30 PM

Off topic but judging by King Percy’s comments re Zaha, only one person in charge of players at Palace and it ain’t him! Haha

  • 30 Wayayman // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:32 PM

Would Sissoko be happy to not play any football at all if he can’t get his move, or would he man up, apologise and get playing for us until Jan or end of season? Can’t think that this would be a bad thing as despite his lack of top-level qualities, he’d ruin many a Championship team with his bursts into the final third. No lose situation for us I’d say.

  • 31 nut meg // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:36 PM

    G @ 21
Will Hughes made his come back in April after missing 40 games with a ruptured cruciate ligament. He’s only missed 15 games previous to that through injury since 2013 so not that bad really.

  • 32 Belfast // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:36 PM

I’m not a fan of Neville Southalls body double either to be honest but his stock is higher than Kruls currently.

I would have Darlow and Elliott ahead of him all day long.

  • 33 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:39 PM

Fair enough I’d have Steve Harper today ahead of Elliott personally

Kruls gone to play for Ajax though clearly he ain’t that bad

  • 34 Jib // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:40 PM

Achraf Lazaar from Palermo looks as if it will happen.
Gianluca di Marzio is a reporter for Sky Italia and his info is normally accurate

  • 35 Charlie in the Gallowgate // Aug 26, 2016 at 3:44 PM

    tim Krul
Was never the same goalkeeper after he done his shoulder in against the mackems.

Like Elliott and Darlow what I have seen but my two big problems with both are:
i.) command of the six yard box
ii) distribution – which does my head in

Tuesday night was a good example of distribution – winning 2-0 against bottom rung team – instead of the full-backs coming short and wide or one of the central defenders coming to get a pass roll-out fro the keeper, the TOON were hoofing it long – ARGHHHHH

  • 36 Fostino // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:05 PM

If we get this lb…Defence and gk certainly sorted. The st be good too if armstron came good. And finally we mostrich def need a winger…evn if sissoko…tiote etv ends up staying.

  • 37 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:15 PM

Murmurs of Astu and Lazaar coming in soon

Like the sound of Lazaar but Astu is more of an unknown quantity to me…I know he’s fast but that’s about it speed in the championship is huge though can get u past a lot of draw backs

  • 38 MadisonToon // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:24 PM

I’ll be quite pleased if Lazaar comes in. That will give us the last piece of our backline which is the most critical thing for us to sort out. We’ve leaked way too many goals in the last few seasons and new recruits at CB, RB and now a potential LB/LWB in Lazaar should give us what we need. I don’t know how good Lazaar is or if he’s going to be more of a winger than a fullback, but I’m happy that we’ve been putting lots of transfer focus into getting the right backline (and adequate backups) as well as the keeper sorted for the upcoming season.

We all want more to be figured out up front and with creativity, but you won’t win this league if you can’t keep a tight backline and get clean sheets. With that, we can build forward and maybe pull in an extra winger/creative mid/forward in January depending on league position and what we’re clearly lacking after Rafa gets the squad playing like he wants them.

I’d be really happy with Lazaar and one additional Winger/AMC. Another forward would be great, but I think we have a decent corps to take us to January to see what needs to be done to make promotion attainable and the expectation.

    Mmmm, nice team.

Championship should be a walk in the park with that team. Pretty strong bench aswell.

  • 40 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:28 PM

8 new signings in that team.

  • 41 Oldgit1 // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:32 PM

Lazard deal appears to be held back due to a problem involving a sell on clause.

Style of Play, Strengths, and Weaknesses

The first thing that stood out tome when I watched him play was his explosive speed both on and off the ball. He can easily beat defenders one on one to get into excellent crossing positions for the other forwards in the box waiting to get their head on to something good from Atsu.

The only thing that I think he needs to improve on if or when he makes his move to Liverpool in his shooting ability. I have watched countless videos on Atsu and it really irritates me when he gets into the box and creates space for himself, but his shot ends up going straight at the goalkeeper. This will need to improve if he wants to be a stand out player in the bigger clubs.

His control of the ball is unlike anything I have seen from a young player. The natural speed of the winger really helps his control. The ball will get away from him for time to time but because of his blistering speed, he will be able to get the ball back and continue on with the attack.

Reckon we won’t see that team from Rafa I’d say too attacking for his ideology

  • 45 Munster Mag // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:44 PM

whats Lazaar like as a player?

  • 46 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:46 PM

Yeah you’re right. But what do you think Rafa would do with those players? I’m interested to see how you think our strongest team would line up.

  • 47 WWSBRD // Aug 26, 2016 at 4:53 PM

Not sure tbh maybe look to play 5 at the back? 2 fast attacking wing backs and a solid base of Lascelles Mbemba and Hanley/Clark

Not sure he would limit the attack that much though but who knows. Grants us something we’ve been missing for years though which is options

    The story of Achraf Lazaar,

Palermo left-back, could be used as a spot for the integration between different cultures. The Lazaar family, Moroccan, has landed in Italy in 2003 and, more specifically, in Varese. Here, the boy, who was playing at home in Raja Casablanca, began to tread the Italian courts with Varesina (club series D), before moving in 2008 to Varese. With the red and white shirt made ??whole rigmarole to the first team with which he made ??his debut in the 2012/2013 season. In January this year it moved to Palermo, with which, after winning the Serie B, is set to debut in A.

small player and extremely agile, Lazaar makes the race his best weapon. When part along the strip, it becomes impossible to take, because in possession of a scorching shot, which leaves in place its opponent. Very skilled technically, makes precise cross that become authentic manne for attackers. . It can also cover all the roles on the left wing, also to external attack (position where he played early in his career).
