Newcastle Announce 11th Signing – Now Signed A Full Team

Newcastle have announced their second signing of the day and our 11th signing of the summer, and the  third new arrival in just four days – so those of you who said Rafa would be building a complete new side on Tyneside were right – the manager has now signed 11 players.

24 year-old Moroccan International left-back Achraf Lazaar become our 11th signing of this summer and we still have over three days left in the transfer window – he signed on  for five years.

The fee is though to be £3M for a player who was in the last year of his contract at Palermo.

Achraf Lazaar  – 24 year-old Moroccan International defender

This is what Newcastle have put on their web-site:

Newcastle United have completed the signing of defender Achraf Lazaar from Palermo for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old Morocco international left-back has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at St. James’ Park.

Lazaar came through the youth set-up at Italian club Varese and spent two years in the first team before joining Palermo in January 2014, initially on loan.

He helped the Rosanero win Serie B at the end of his first season and has been a regular in the top flight, making a total of 76 appearances and scoring three goals during his time at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

This is what Lazaar said after signing for Newcastle:

“I am very happy to be at Newcastle United.” “I’m proud to sign here because Newcastle is a great team in England.”

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez added this about the 11th new signing:

“Achraf is a good, young player with international experience who has grown his game in Italy.”

“He gives us width on the left, has a good left foot and will add great competition to the squad.”

Here are all the ins and outs so far this summer and we are now getting close to spending some real money – we are making a measly profit of only £1M this summer.

Am just looking out for the website it’s embarrassing if they name him as a defender and we’ve bought a winger

Nah I hope he’s a left back. We’ve been crying out for one for so long.

    Dwight Gayle / Daryl Murphy
Matt Ritchie / Isaac Hayden / Mohamed Diame / DeAndre Yedlin
Achraf Lazaar / Ciaran Clark / Grant Hanley / Jesus Gamez
    Matz Sels

A couple not in their favoured positions. Doing that makes me realise that Sissoko will no longer be first choice RAM and will struggle to get a place in the team.

Don’t be asking Manxpie. He’ll just post more confusing stats.

He plays left back, but Bale and Beckham started playing in the first team as fullbacks.

How many LBs start their career by playing LB then remain playing LB? I’d wager a higher percentage

That’s some Championship side. Perhaps not one for a cold wet winters wednesday night fixture in Huddersfield, but at home, roared on by 50000 roaring, thundering Geordies its a wonderful proposition.

Well done Rafa and Lee Charnley.
