Here’s the latest transfers into and out of the club this summer – with still more to come and more to go before Wednesday night, when the transfer window slams shut at 11:00pm.
That will be a relief.
The latest one through the door is Daryl Murphy with Palermo left-back Achraf Lazaar also expected to be announced today.
Daryl Murphy – Newcastle’s 10th signing this summer
We are still making a profit of £4M so far this summer.

Murphy is a 1 or 2 season stop gap to ensure we have strength in depth to get back to the PL.
Once back I am confident we will look to get another, PURPLE if you like, CF in to battle it out with Mitro and Gayle.
No-one is saying Murphy is there to be a wonder CF, he has a role to do until we can get promoted and actually attract the top level CFs. None of these will sign for a championship club.

Comment #43Sutty, i fully stand by the completely valud criticisms i made of rafa but yesterday was great stuff and really filled me with optimism. Of course tbe whole thing will have to be ripped apart if we go up. If we can get a pacey left flank working for us we could be very dangerous.

Comment #44I’m expecting a big interview from Sulky in the next 24-48 hours. One last big push for a move to a “big club”.
It won’t work and he’ll be heading to Croydon on Tuesday night for a medical and joining the not so glamorous Crystal Palace.

Comment #45I see a few Mackems saying we’ll need to get rid of a lot of shit if we get promoted. Going by who we’ve signed I don’t see it that way. Sels I think will come good as he showed glimpses of yesterday when he had a good game, Gayle had a good ratio at Palace but Parspew tried his best to Pardew him and had no idea how to play him, he’s a decent sub at least, Ritchie is quality and can do well at the top level, Gamez was starting in champions league games, not many but he was trusted at that level, Hayden is quality, you can see the Arsenal academy training and he will only get better, Hanley I haven’t seen enough of obviously but going by some he might be too slow for the premier, decent squad member though at least, Clark is admittedly shite, Yedlin has potential to do well, and Murphy is a fourth choice stop gap who will likely be sold if /when we gain promotion. The way I see it we only really need to get rid of a few moved on, a few will become squad players, and we can sign a few big names hopefully.

Comment #46@Oldgit1 I’m Irish and watched all of our qualifiers to the Euros last year. We all questioned why exactly he was in the Irish squad. If you believe he is good enough for Newcastle United, then you clearly have low expectations of where we want to go.

Comment #47acuna is from the dark side methinks and remembering Murpy from his days down the road when they signed him as a 21 year old , then proceeded to screw up his career as much as they could.

Comment #48Can’t really see the point of signing murphy my self either. Regardless of age we have 3 strikers in gayle, mitro and perez and would rather Armstrong was 4th choice.
His stats aren’t great and most Irish supporters don’t rate him either. It’s an odd one for me as was ciaran clark.

Comment #49From earlier post, I think some may be missing the point with the Murphy signing, two things come to mind.
Number one, he is a great target option being 6ft 3″ and he has proven with the right service to score goals, we have way more talent than Ipswich in the crossing the ball column now. Number two, Rafa is not a stupid man we can all agree, I feel he looked around the league for someone who knew about the league and some of the teams we will face this year, so with one signing we get a proven goal scorer in this league and our very own scout.
And for a few million, ten goals + from Murphy would be money well spent and if you add the knowledge factor of the league and it could be the signing of the season for Rafa.
