Reports: Midfielder Has Failed His Medical

AmkSpor, NtvSpor and Milliyet are all reporting today that Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has failed his medical at Galatasaray.

To be more accurate, Cheick has completed his medical but has not passed it – but the Turkish club want more information about a specific medical condition they have found.

The 30-year old only arrived in Istanbul last night to a big fanfare and was expected to complete his £1.5M move to the Turkish giants today.

The reports are that it seems Tiote’s left leg is weaker than his right leg and that in medical terms, he has a problem with his left lateral meniscus.

That’s the cartilage that’s part of the knee.

Galatasaray are now requesting detailed reports on Tiote’s condition from their club medics.

It seems he is injured and will not be able to play for a while so the Turkish club want an estimate for how long he will take to recover from the injury.

The plot thickens, but Galatasaray are not expected to make a decision on whether to go ahead and sign Cheick until their medical team have come up with the answers to their questions.

It’s still possible they could sign him, but this has complicated things.

The Chronicle reported yesterday that he has five offers on the table for his services.

This may be resolved as early as today.

Galatasary are stalling on this to get a reduction in Tiote’s transfer fee…..I’d guess.

I dont have a problem with Cback as back up at all.

I feel in Hayden Shelvey Diame Perez Colback and Anita, we have more ghan enough central defensive and attacking midfielders at the club presently.

What we really need are wide players but not the likes of McManaman

Colback is a liability and could potentially loss us games with his fouling in dangerous areas. Dirty player who needs to sort his game oot.

Just looked up Ravel Morrison on transfermarket. He’s been at Lazio for a full season and made only 4 appearances,no starts all coming off the bench for a combined total of 58 mins. Add to that it says he’s on special leave. Great skills but no thanks.

    TOON KK

How many goals resulted from free kicks he gave away?

Would you say his accumulation of yellow cards was anh more or less than say, Tiote?

How many RED cards did he get?

How many goals and assists has he provided in the last couple of seasons in comoarison to say, Sissoko?

I’d call colback a thick player rather than dirty, he’s dense because he gives away more needless free kicks than anyone else when opposition players aren’t going anywhere.

Toon KK, in defence of your stance on Colback, I’ll repost my assessment from earlier in the summer

    28SUTTY1978 // Jul 25, 2016 at 10:38 AM

Ian, we got dominated in the middle of the park by nearly every team we played last year. Colback’s General play is
    1. Run 30 yards towards opposition player with ball
    2. Stop 2 yards in front of said opposition player
    3. Dance a little jig to try and put said player off their game
    4. Watch player ghost round you or pass to a team mate
    5. Repeat steps 1-4

In all fairness he does mix it up from time to time by replacing step 4 with “needlessly foul player (preferably within shooting distance) and earn yellow card”

the reality is colback aint too bright. wouldn’t mind so much if he could actually play a defence splitting pass, score goals, actually tackle properly etc, etc.

colback has got gradually more and more phased out from being an automatic starter in the last few games, where we’ve actually started winning.

I think the question was more to do with Colback as a squad player at this level. I dont mind him to be honest. He is never going to win champions leagues but ghere again, as someone said yesterday, noone expected Frank Clark to win the 1st division title and european cup all those years ago.

    It takes all sorts.

I dont think the word quality was used. It was more to do with his role in the team.

He is not the creative type in the style of Cabaye etc but his role is more of a bresker of moves, collecting and giving the ball to the more creative players in the team.

Because of that role, he is going to collect moe yellow cards than your avrage player in the same vein Tiote did.

I have seen on many occasions where he has taken one for the team covering up for others mistakes.

Nah seriously I reckon he’d be a decent signing. Couldn’t really give a stuff about a tackle on a squad player (who isn’t that great) that happened over three years ago to be honest.

Definite no on Ravel Morrison though. He’d probably be in the hackney marshes by now if he didn’t play for Man united when he was a kid – Complete waster.

I think with Colback like many other players we had under previous regimes he is not use to having anywhere to go or anyone to pass too especially in a forward position.

He is having to learn how to play in a new team with new tactics, and it obviously takes some player longer to be un-Pardewed than others.

He is playing bit parts at the moment until he finds his feet in a new team that’s all, but it’s the same for some of the other players that were left over from the Pardew era.

He was pretty highly rated a few seasons ago mate.

And a footballer not flourishing in a Tony Pulis team is no great surprise really. ( No offence Tony)

Is Astu any better than him ? the invisible man at Everton and Bournemouth ?
