Benitez In Surprise Move For Serbian International

There is a report in GOAL and reactions from Merseyside that Rafa Benitez is interested in bringing Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic to Newcastle on loan and if he can get that done – there will be an option to buy the 22 year-old Serbian winger.

So it’s a bit of a surprise, but Aleksandar Mitrovic’s Serbian International team-mate is apparently reported to be keen to join Rafa Benitez at Newcastle, even though we are in the Championship.

Lazar Markovic – 22 year-old Serbian International winger

Certainly we can rely on Mitro to give Newcastle a glowing reference to his International team-mate.

🙂

Markovic joined Liverpool two years ago for ÂŁ20M from Benfica and last season he was on a season long loan at Fenerbahce in Istanbul, Turkey.

The news of a possible loan move for the 22 year-old winger is coming from only Liverpool sources at the moment.

Newcastle are expected to sign 24 year-old Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu from Chelsea on loan today.

And we are also considering  25 year-old Scouser winger Callum McManaman from West Brom, so don’t seem to need a third winger brought in before tomorrow night.

That’s unless Rafa doesn’t bother with McManaman and goes for the extra class that Markovic would give the team.

Rafa may also be looking to the future for top players to sign now, given that we can hopefully get promoted next May back to the Premier League.

Lazar is a very talented young player and he doesn’t turn 23 until next March, so he could certainly reach his undoubted potential under Rafa’s excellent coaching.

It seems like Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is willing to send the Cacak, Yugoslavia born player out on loan, since he will not be part of the first team squad at the Reds this season.

But Rafa would also insist on an option to buy the player at the end of the season – and maybe Jurgen wouldn’t agree to that?

Lazar started his career at Partizan and was a team-mate of Mitrovic in the 2012-2013 season before he moved to Benfica in 2013.

He joined Partizan and came through their Youth Academy much like Mitro did, and he joined Partizan in 2006 when he was 12 years old and just one year after the Newcastle striker joined .

He has 21 caps for Serbia with 3 goals.

Regarding Atsu and his position. He seems very versatile from the stats I can see. When I saw him mostly he played on the right side of midfield. Sor Malaga he started playing on the left side but later moved to the right side of midfield.

If you look through his record he been played all 3 attacking midfield potion about the same amount of time.

Vitesse played him as an AM mostly, at Porto he played on the left side and Malaga and Everton mostly on the right

I still believe Sissulko’s position is untenable due to his obvious desire to leave. However Rafa can be very stubborn as he has proved several times during his career. He will not want to back down too much on the fee, neither will he want to set a precedent for other players wanting to leave and allow players and agents to dictate terms to him.

It will be an interesting conclusion to the saga but I have always expected it to go to the wire with a deal for him to leave being agreed tomorrow.

    Atsu

Don’t expect much from him. Not as pacy as some seem to think, has made little impact in his numerous loan spells. Will be good for the Champ I think, but this is about his level.

    The Ghanaian Routledge!

Ravel no thanks, the lad has a worse attitude than Ranger. Why does anyone think coming to newcastle will change him all of a sudden? He’s had plenty of chances and messed them all up and very good clubs.

Markovic sounds like BS, I’d be very surprised if he’d drop down to this level.

Wilshire – laughable to say the least, he wants back in the national side and he won’t do that playing in the championship

Few years ago benfica beat juve in semi final of europa lge. 2nd leg finished 0-0 in turin and in that game the commentator was raving about markovic. markovic was on right wing and he was winning everything juve couldnt get past him on that side. he was up and down so much energy. then that summer liverpool bought him. id rather have markovic rather than mcmanaman. but if atsu and ritchie want to play on the right where will markovic fit in? but if rafa plans on rotating players nearly every game who knows he might sign both markovic and mcmanaman.

Sissoko is still training at the club so no reason why he wouldn’t “man up” and return to the team.

Rafa has said he’s had no issues with him

I still think the most we would get for Sissoke would be ÂŁ25 million. Clubs are not clamouring for Sissoko.

Would love NUFC to go for Lazar Markovic – could team up with Mitrovic.

I know Miles Starforth and Keith Downie said there is no interest from NUFC for Markovic but Starforth though Janmaat was going to West Ham and I am sure Downie has made incorrect predictions before.

For those of you wanting Wilshere to sign for the Toon on loan, why do you think Wenger is willing to loan him out in the first place? ‘To get first team football’ also known as ‘we’re paying this lad a ridiculous amount of money and he’s always injured – let him become someone else’s problem’. It would be a total waste of money and I highly doubt the lad would drop down a league. He’s a current international who is enjoying life in London, no way is he moving north to play in the Championship.

See Spurs are been link with a cut price for Le Sulk.

If there is ever someone that needs to pay over the odds for a player its them. They have ridiculous valuations for players sitting in their reserves and no cut prices are ever been seen.

35 million for u sir, and if you even try 20million offer then its 40.

    Levy just boils my blood.

Apparently Spurs are interested in making a late bid for Sissoko. If they offer 25M I’d snap their hands off. However, Daniel Levy is almost as frugal as Fat Ash and I think they’ll take the micky and offer closer to 15M to see if we’ll bite out of desperation – we won’t. Between Rafa and Ashley I think the answer will be ‘thanks, but no thanks’.

i dont think its the rafa link that created this BS story.
This is story is a permutation of our recent signing Lazaar.
Archaf Lazaar some how became Lazar, which turned in to Lazar Marcovic

As much as i would like to believe this as a possibility, i doubt it.

He had picked up an injury but has still been training, the only time he trains by himself is when we work on tactics and shape for matches, both rafa and sissoko have confirmed this

If the highly unlikely happens and Sissoko doesn’t get sold then Rafa’s management skills will come into play These situations have occurred before and Rafa will be confident that he can re-motivate Moussa to get the fans behind him and maybe attract a buyer for January.

I am almost certain that Ashley has allowed Rafa the final say on transfers within their agreed budget and as he has spent wisely and balanced the books then there would be no reason for any pressure from above to sell.
