Some web-sites have Emmanuel Riviere’s contract down as just three years and running out next summer – and if that was the case then he would become a free agent next summer.
But it looks like that’s not true and when Emmanuel was signed it was stated that he was on a long term contract so that’s maybe five years.
Emmanuel Riviere – one year loan deal to Osasuna
This was brought to light today when Newcastle announced the loan deal of Riviere to Osasuna and the Spanish club have an option to buy at the end of the one year loan deal.
This is what Newcastle have put out on Riviere:
Newcastle United striker Emmanuel Riviere has joined Spanish side Osasuna on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
The 26-year-old arrived on Tyneside from Monaco in July 2014 but has only made 31 appearances in all competitions since, scoring three goals, and hasn’t featured in competitive action since the beginning of March.
Riviere will now play for Los Rojillos, who are 14th in La Liga, for the remainder of the 2016/2017 campaign.
We have been thinking his Newcastle deal runs out next summer and that’s not accurate.
It makes it good for Newcastle that we may be able to claw back some of the £6M we paid out to Monaco for the striker two years ago.
