Report Newcastle To Sign Ravel Morrison

1:33 pm, Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 60 Comments

Football Italia are reporting that Newcastle will be signing Ravel Morrison of Lazio today – but that’s hard to believe,

When Morrison’s name was first mentioned a week ago the local press indicated that inside sources at Newcastle had said he was not a target.

But it’s transfer deadline day and we suppose there will be reports of players arriving at the last minute to sign on at Newcastle.

Ravel Morrison – report Newcastle to sign him

There’s no doubt the former Manchester United Youth Academy graduate is a very good player with lots of skills, but it’s his temperament, application and work-rate that are a weakness.

It’s very much like with Hatem Ben Arfa, who could have been up there with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as one of the best players in the world if he had the same application and determination as those two top players have.

Morrison had a terrible time of it in Italy last season and appeared only 6 times for the Rome based club with the coach Stefano Pioli criticizing his work effort.

It seems he has had difficulty settling in Italy.

Ravel left Manchester United in January of 2011 just before his 19th birthday when Newcastle were interested in him, but in three and a half years at the Hammers he played only 24 times with 5 goals.

He was on loan at Birmingham for the 2011-2012 season in the Championship and appeared 30 times with 3 goals.

We would be very surprised if this story is true.

Comments welcome.

If you can sort his head out he would be an asset to any team

    I hope not.

Keep him and his gangster friends well away from Newcastle please

Looks like Ed is trying to get the most out of the clickbait that is Transfer Deadline Day

58 minutes game time in a full season ! Now he’s on special leave whatever that is about. Great skills but ….no thanks.

  • 8 JP...from The Rock // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:46 PM

No thanks. Sissy please get lost already and we can perhaps pull off a last minute deal for a proper player.

  • 9 Our Toon // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:46 PM

So it’s BS day in the transfer window, nothing new to report other than sissoko will defo leave, not to palace or WBA as most had hoped. Spurs have the money and should pay upfront or no Deal at all.

As for tiote I’d be happy if he stayed, gives us cover for DM role and certainly better than colback if not our best DM

  • 10 WWSBRD // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:47 PM

Am gonna call it, Atsu gets confirmed Sissoko stays and thats us done until Jan

  • 11 jayphoto // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:50 PM

his potential ability is probably more than of any current England player. This lad could have had the world if he’d have wanted it. Heard stories of how he embarrassed senior man utd defenders and goal keepers in training aged 16 and Fergie said he’s the most natural talent he ever saw…. With all that in mind, the fact that he’s even linked with championship clubs and no1 will touch him with a barge pole says all that needs to be said about his mental state. Hes nile ranger with a million times the talent but hard work will always beat talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Been players like Morrison before, and there will be players like him again, sad sad waste of natural ability.

  • 12 toontaff2 // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:52 PM

Surely Le Sulk has flown in to Heathrow, hiring a car as I type, on his way up and doon the Loftus Road to join the Queens Park Rangers!

  • 13 jayphoto // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:55 PM

@wwsbrd – id take that. If rafa gets sissoko playing, and surely Moussa will be hell bent for leather to have a point to prove, he’ll be a massive asset.
A centre midfield 3 of Diame, Hayden and Sissoko has so much power can’t see much in the championship dealing with it. Had Brighton down as our biggest threat and a half fit Diame, shelvey and Hayden nullified them

  • 14 Spoof // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:56 PM

Its looking increasingly likely that Sissoko will stay with us, so will he get his head down and do a Cabaye and play the best football of his Newcastle career and force a January move or will he just sulk which could be very damaging to his long term career.

  • 15 John Tudor // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:56 PM

i heard he fancies crawley town

  • 16 RUNAWAY777 // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:57 PM

Tsunki think iam getting the hang of it now few hours off work watching all the going on ssn bro

  • 17 jayphoto // Aug 31, 2016 at 1:58 PM

apparently Sissoko is actually quite a positive influence around training ground and has a professional attitude.
I feel for him a bit, he seems to get let down the garden path by French journalists and then suffers further in translation and context so I have every hope he’ll get his head down and play out of his skin.
Maybe the fact no club felt he was worth the money might just be a reality check or kick up the backside?

  • 18 swemag // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM

So the Chelsea story is bollocks apparently.

  • 19 expatmag // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:01 PM

    I think you are right.

Sissoko to sray and no more incomings.

I see that horrible little scumbag Pardew bid 4.5 million quid for Dummett. Glad the devious dhit was knocked back. Seems Newcastle players are the only ones he knows…….tosser

  • 20 WWSBRD // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:08 PM

Honestly Id be happy with that too I think Sissoko will play well for Rafa if he stays just hope the boos arent over the top

4.5 mill for Dummett? Does he need a lift to London?

  • 21 Bobbybee // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:08 PM

If SSN is anything to go by, Sissoko will be going nowhere because it appears nobody wants him. Not at that price anyway. Only got himself to blame in all this, he should’ve kept his gob shut. Still, sure he can excel in the Championship because I can’t see Rafa letting him go cheap. You never know though, someone might come in with the money late on when they realise we ain’t budging on the price. What a bloody farce.

  • 22 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:11 PM

Nobody wants him because of his attitude. He should have kept his mouth shut and he would have moved by now.

  • 23 WWSBRD // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:16 PM

If no one wants him why are teams bidding for him?

  • 24 lesh // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:17 PM

It’s not long since we were rid of one prodigious but troublesome oik in Ranger. We don’t need another one who’s off the field antics cause problems for the club.

  • 25 expatmag // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:17 PM

Aye. But to anyone other than that twat

  • 26 Budge123 // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:22 PM

Can’t see the sense in anyone wanting rid of Dummett.
Still likely to be our starting lb for at least a while.
If he leaves we back to no cover there.
He’s also the perfect professional in attitude.

People backing Le Sulk to stay and come good but offering to help get rid of Dummett.
    Strange times.

  • 27 davis_toons // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:23 PM

If he is not costly, I think he deserve a chance. What is there to lose? Sign him on a loan or a short term contract.

I read that he is working hard in training.
Rafa will know who he can handle before signing.

I believe Rafa wants to keep Sissoko that was why he make him captain.

  • 28 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:25 PM

    WW ,

    wanted by whom again?

  • 29 John Tudor // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:25 PM

flog him to france they want him

  • 30 John Tudor // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:27 PM

  • 31 davis_toons // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:27 PM

Dummett works hard and can improve if he wants to. Just like Danny Simpson.

Simpson learns to attack as well although his dribbling skill was horrible he still get pass 1 or 2 at times.

Good to keep at a squad player and Rafa knows that.

  • 32 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:29 PM

Ronald Koeman of @Everton is about to offer a prepared £22m move for #NUFC’s Moussa Sissoko. Newcastle say they want £23m. #DeadlineDay

  • 33 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:29 PM

We should just take 20m for him and flog him off. He’s poison having him still after this window.

  • 34 WWSBRD // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:31 PM

    Was a joke relax

Palace, West Brom, Spurs, Everton, Juve, PSG, Chelsea…probably a few names Ive forgotten as well

  • 35 geordie157 // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:32 PM

Doesn’t sound like there’s much truth in the Morrison or Markovic rumours, the McManaman talk has gone quiet too.

Thought Vuckic would have ended up at rangers but all quiet on him and ameobi.

  • 36 WWSBRD // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:33 PM

    Haha Sissoko is poison?

  • 37 catchy in norway // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:34 PM

Ok here is my take on the Sissoko situation,

is he worth £35 million? ability wise, yes all day long, when he wants to he can be a world beater, and that’s where his problems start, he knows he has ability but his mouth starts up every time he goes away with the French team. then there is his lack of commitment to the team he is playing for, he only stated playing for us when the Europeans were getting close and Rafa still had to make him captain to get playing good football. these things put the big teams off buying him unless he is a bargain for them, which does not represent his true value. me personally, I’d take 15 for him and get him away from the first team squad.

  • 38 2_goal_tino // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:35 PM

BBC have now confirmed the Atsu deal. Interestingly, they say the purchase option is contingent upon us getting promotion.

  • 41 WWSBRD // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:40 PM

He’d canceled his contract earlier in the window? No wonder he wanted to come back to us

  • 42 brains // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:45 PM

Could someone please correct me if I am wrong but is there not a rule that the squad can only be 25 over 21 players. Including Sissoko and Tiote but excluding Atsu we have 26. I think Sissoko or Tiote has to go before Atsu gets into the squad. The other has to go before we can get anyone else (Unless Atsu is U21!)

Premier League side West Brom have offered Callum McManaman plus cash for Newcastle attacking midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to a reliable journalist.

Graeme Bailey, who formerly spent 12 years working as a senior reporter for Sky Sports, has claimed on his personal Twitter account that West Brom have made an approach for Sissoko ahead of the deadline-day cut-off at 11pm on Wednesday.

Sissoko has been keen to exit St James’ Park following Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship last season and Bailey suggests Baggies manager Tony Pulis wants to offer him an instant return to the Premier League.

  • 44 2_goal_tino // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:50 PM

    @ Brains – 42

The squad rules regarding 25 senior professionals and home grown players are not an FA thing, they only apply to Premier League teams.

  • 45 Budge123 // Aug 31, 2016 at 2:50 PM

Does anyone know if Brighton, Norwich, Derby etc have been up to much? .
Have our promotional rivals got stronger or weaker today?

Luton Town have signed the young Newcastle United player Alex Gilliead on loan.

Gilliead is an attacking midfielder and has appeared for England at U20 level.

The loan period will see Gilliead remain at Kenilworth Road until 7th January 2017.

Here at Vital Luton Town we`d like to formerly welcome Alex Gilliead to Kenilworth Road and we hope his stay with us is both enjoyable and productive.

    Ayoze Perez
    Aleksandar Mitrovic
    Daryl Murphy

I had Ben Smith in for some reason so the size is actually 26 including our two want aways.

  • 50 brains // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:07 PM

Actually it must be 25…why were Ameobi and Viduka not given squad numbers but plenty of U21s were?

  • 51 Tsunki // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:08 PM

Because they’re rubbish, brains. Looks like a personal insult when it’s posted that does ha ha

  • 52 jayphoto // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:08 PM

Isn’t Elliot out till xmas? might leave him out the squad if that’s true.
Similarly, when will Haidara be back? and will he even get a squad place?
Similarly I can see Tiote going on loan if not for transfer
When is the cut off point for players over 21? Hayden only turned 21 this year and I’m pretty sure woodman and Aarons class as u21 players

  • 53 Tsunki // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:09 PM

Fast approaching drum roll time. Will they won’t they? Who is Moussa’s mystery dream club today? Stay tuned!!!

  • 54 Tsunki // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:12 PM

On Unravel Moribund – had the best start ever and the most golden opportunity at Manure under the iron regime of SAF and still had to be ditched, I bet that was an expensive throwaway for them. If he couldn’t be trained to act professionally as a youngster, I believe recidivist is the term here. Barge poles at the ready!

  • 55 Sazzer // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:16 PM

    Villa have signed Adomah.
Derby losing Jeff Hendrick and Lee Grant. They are trying to sign Sean Scannell.
Norwich have signed Nelson Oliveira. They look to be losing Naismith and they might sign Jerome Sinclair.
    Brighton have signed Sebastien Pocognoli.

One of the above might bring in Jordan Rhodes.

  • 56 Munster Mag // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:17 PM

If we dont sell sissoko, as i said from the start, it will be due to rafa and charnley. They have been happy to see him overvalued at 35k so if no buyers come in, they neednt look beyond themselves. Of course sissoko is a loud mouthed halfwit, but teams will go for him at the right price. So if we end up with a sulking egomaniac, thats our own problem. I cant see him trying hard or consistently at EFL level.

  • 57 Tsunki // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:20 PM

Well if he does stay and doesn’t try hard I doubt rafa will play him, his value in January will be no better.

  • 58 Jail for Ashley // Aug 31, 2016 at 3:22 PM

You’re right, Rafa is a tw@t. I wonder if Rafa desperately wants to keep him and thinks he might get some top performancesix out of him if he does stay.
