Transfer Details – 12 Players In – 21 Players Out – £31M Profit

11:18 pm, Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 144 Comments

There news that Moussa Sissoko just got his deal done in the nick of the time and is now a Spurs player means that Newcastle get £30M for him.

Newcastle have had a terrific transfer window with 12 players coming in for a total of £54.5M with all but one of them  permanent deals.

The last player announced – Christian Atsu – has come in on a season loan and we have an option to buy him at the end of the season.

Newcastle also received £85.5M for six players sold this summer – Andros Townsend, Remy Cabella, Papiss Cisse, Gini Wijnaldum, Daryl Janmaat and Moussa Sissoko.

Notice that is more than we spent all of last season so we should be in really good financial shape  because the wage bill was also reduced significantly.

achraf lazaar and rafa benitez

Rafa Benitez with one of the signings Achraf Lazaar

It’s been some great work done by Rafa Benitez, and he was helped enormously by all the hard work done by Managing Director Lee Charnley and his team.

They did all the negotiations and got all the many deals agreed and signed.

An excellent transfer window for the new Newcastle United.

    So no McManaman, after all.

It’s good going all that business. Highly organised and professional job.

the white tino – who or what is a malabar? And what did I say to make you think I’m a malabar? #confused

  • 4 El Sleeve // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:22 PM

wow, Rafa literally cleared out all the deadwood and underperformers

  • 5 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:23 PM

Out of the 21 out goings, only 8 or 9 of them had any sort of regular input. Id say we have covered that with the 12 signings, and scored for 31M ti boot.

  • 6 stripes1009 // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:24 PM

Congratulations to Rafa and Lee Charnley. Excellent business for NUFC.
Done in a professional and methodical manner.

Just shows what we have been missing since SBR and KK.

  • 7 MacToon // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:25 PM

I’m far too old nowadays to wish for the suffering and excitement of transfer deadline day and thankful that they are now quite a predictable affair, for us at least.

Of course we can question where player a or b might end up as we’re left gloating at fleecing Everton or is it now Spurs, surprised at Pochettino mind, for a player we found it difficult to take to our hearts.

Onwards and upwards as we ride the Rafa for president train – Yee haaw

  • 8 loonie-toon // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:25 PM

Will b is dream club the badge similar to France

  • 9 Yo-yo // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:25 PM

Well, what a turn up.. first window I can recall where the final success is judged by a player leaving at the last minute and not one incoming.
Remember when we just missed out on Bryan Ruiz ?

  • 10 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:25 PM

And with that, i am off to kip. Night all. Best deadline day in years, even though all we did was confirm an incoming loan and ship out a few loanees and one massive tw@t.

  • 11 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:27 PM

    Yo yo

Brian ruiz? Hahahaha yeah. Talk about dodging a bullet.

  • 12 jimmysmith // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:27 PM

Yeah fantastic amount of activity. I’m as confident as you could reasonably be now that we will win promotion, and am already looking forward to the window we’ll have should that happen.

  • 13 Bobbybee // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:27 PM

Sissoko has no shame. He whore’s himself to everton, virtually begging them to sign him, then drops them the second spurs come in. Sign in haste – repent at your leisure. Bet he never mentions Arsenal again. Gone. Thank god. Worra plonka rod-er-ney!

ourtoon the thing is tho he’s 27 and his whole career he has been inconsistant cant see that changing tbh infact he’ll have his big lip out this time next year imo
deal of the century for me

ycmiu dong who? never heard of him lol they got some man city kid as well they are going down i just hope we pass them on the way up!

  • 15 GeordieTwo // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:28 PM

My apologies to you Laurent Robert mate. I thought you were talking about Sissy not Atsu.

  • 16 JamesToon // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:29 PM

Well for me Sissoko leaving has capped off a great window, we have a squad that is filled with more balance, desire, work ethic and experience.

  • 17 GeordieTwo // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:29 PM

21 players out! Unbelievable. That shows what kind of squad we had under the Gang of Fools.

  • 18 geordie157 // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:30 PM

Good window, dead wood either gone out loaned out and great money for sissoko and wijnaldum.

Assuming Tiote is staying put then, to be fair he should come in useful

Looking at our championship rivals, Fulham have done some good business, surprised Pearson let Chris Martin go on loan. Wolves signing from Monaco could be a star but didn’t see Brighton or Norwich really strengthen over the last few days.

  • 19 andrew84 // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:30 PM

If you want a laugh, check out Sissoko’s Wikipedia page…..

  • 20 toonking // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:30 PM

dead line is now closed sissoko more than likely at spurs time to take a sleep following my hard day volenteering work.

    G.Nite all

  • 21 JamesToon // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:35 PM

There’s literally no one in the squad atm that I feel like we need to get rid of ASAP, like even Gouffran and Tiote i think we should keep them, whereas for years, we’ve always finished the transfer window and there’s still been players like Riviere, Coloccini, Taylor, Obertan that I think we should have just got rid of

  • 22 manxpie // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:37 PM

where are they getting the stats for sisko in the air?
    he never headers the ball!!

  • 23 U.S Magpie // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:37 PM

Ok so now we will get Spurs in one of the Cups and kick there ass, Sissy sorry but your a cry baby little bitch. Good Riddance I do so hope you find nothing and Spurs sucks the life out of you.

The window is closed. The squad is in place, nicely balanced. Guided by a master tactitian and backed by 50k screaming Geordies, the juggernaut that was slow to start gathers pace. Let’s kick some ass! 😉

Been exited for Markovic, too bad it didnt go through. Anyway, very good transfer window from Rafa and NUFC, the best thing is we get rid of Sissoko for a ridicously high amount of money. Howay the lads!

  • 34 andrew84 // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:43 PM

Fair’s fair – Lee Charnley deserves credit for once. Rafa has been a hugely positive influence on him.

  • 37 Our Toon // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:45 PM

He’s been inconsistent all his career? Bold statement mate, we bought him, he’s a French international and has been for many years…..hardly inconsistency is the reason why he’s consistently progressed from a higher standard of football in all his moves. Unfortunately spurs are miles ahead of us both on and off the pitch.

He’s been inconsistent for us no doubting that but he’s joined a team that finished in CL last and a manager in Pochettino who must rate him and a manager in Rafa who certainly rated him, a manager in Koeman who also rates him……not bad cv of admirers.

  • 38 goommy // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:46 PM

  • 42 manxpie // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:52 PM

ourtoon look at his record inconsistancy is his thing show me any different?
he’s an attacking player that has shocking stats 30 mill is unbelievable
we bought him for less than 2 mill if he was that great he would have been snapped up by the big boys at that price then
he’ll fail at spurs too lets see at the end of the season he hasn’t got a football brain imo

  • 43 Our Toon // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:54 PM

Let’s hopefully get promoted, the big window was never going to be this one. Next season in the summer is make or break time or pat Charnley on the back time, the squad will need at least 7 or 8 players of real quality to compete in the prem.

This window was all about cost cutting and we’ve done that, Ashley will have liked that Charnley wasn’t going to mess that up. I’m off to bed ppl have fun

  • 44 RUNAWAY777 // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:54 PM

I’d like to see what our wage bill is now compared to this time last year.

  • 46 Toonacious T // Aug 31, 2016 at 11:58 PM

Has pace and power but usually produces no end product. Sub at start of Euros. Don’t think Spurs will get top 4 this year either.

  • 47 Our Toon // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:00 AM

Thanks but let’s deal in facts as Rafa once famously said.

He’s rated by managers we all respect and wouldn’t complain about if they were or are in Rafa’s case here. Look at his caps for a very strong French national team, look at his transfer fees each move.

As for his individual stats, he was managed by pardew and mcclaren, Tevez under pardew managed zero goals in 12 games. I take stats like them with a pinch of salt and take reputations of managers more seriously than anything gets you can point out as stats for attacking in a very defensive team.

Not defending sissoko but we’ve been shite for a long time and he’s also contributed to that, I’ll end it like I started, I’m talking facts…..Koeman, Rafa, Pochettino all rate Sissoko as well as Deschamps etc etc. The only ones that don’t are nufc fans, some down to performances and some down to his big mouth.

    Aidos buddy

  • 48 jimmysmith // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:03 AM

Sissoko is rarely injured, can run all day, passes tidily and intelligently, holds on to possession well, plays to instruction, drives at the heart of defences and unsettles them, the stats might not tell you that, and as a result we’ve just made a 28 million pound profit on him.

He’ll benefit from playing at a well run club with a top coach, and the criticism he’s copped on here is about ten percent deserved and 90% parochial fuelled hogwash. Still he’s gone, we start afresh with an almost entirely new group, and can now look forward to the season ahead with renewed optimism.

  • 49 Rafa Revolution // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:05 AM

As Merson said if you cannot perform in front of 52,000 screaming Geordies when can you perform!!!

  • 50 Pat On The Heed // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:09 AM

Jimmysmith. How do you do it?

  • 51 manxpie // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:10 AM

3 and a half years of watching him every minute is what i trust, his attitude stinks shown fully just tonight let alone the rest
balotelli cost a combined 40 mill from 2 of the biggest clubs in england and didn’t do much to deserve it and has just been given away!

  • 52 Graeme // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:10 AM

Jimmy, @ 48 – what bollocks. How many games in a season does he do that? 3? 4?
I’ll wager He’s been kicked out of Suds within 24 months. He simply cant deliver the goods. In short, he’s a spineless coward.

  • 53 andrew84 // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:12 AM

Jimmysmith. That is meant to be tongue in cheek isn’t it?

  • 54 manxpie // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:22 AM

jimmy have you been watching a different one?
    “passes tidily and intelligently”,
    “holds on to possession well”
they are seriously not his good points
his passing is terrible and his 1st touch is non existent
and he loses it way more than he should with the size of him and his intelligence is not of the football kind lol

  • 55 JP...from The Rock // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:23 AM

Great business by Rafa and co. Well done! £30m for Sissy when we’ve just been relegated is amazing. To complete so many transfers and ship out the deadwood in one full sweep to completely transform the team under one window is remarkable. Now let’s make it all gel and brush the opposition aside to clinch promotion and head back to where we belong with a bang!

Manxpie. You thought nothing of the header which confirmed our survival last season then?

  • 66 jimmysmith // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:41 AM

Ha ha, no, entirely serious. The passing and possession stuff comes directly from Deschamps, who wasn’t bad at it either. He of course isn’t the only top notch manager who likes him, and the 30 million quid also speaks volumes for his capabilities. It’s blinkered to blame a handful of quality players rather than the shortcomings of the club. Moot point anyway. That was then, this now.

  • 67 manxpie // Sep 1, 2016 at 12:41 AM

jp i know it’s taken the longest and most obscure way round but finally we have excitement of what might be

Anyway, cracking window, especially with the Mackems over on the Shields Gazette website whinging about how they’ve made no big signings and angry at Paul Merson for saying they’ll be relegated before Christmas! Hahahahaaaaa!

Excellent window! Looks like ol Charnley does deserve credit for once, seems no players were forced on Rafa as with managers in years past. Got rid of dead wood and even came out with a profit. Buzzing about the Atsu signing!

  • 72 manxpie // Sep 1, 2016 at 1:09 AM

total stats as an attacking player

    total: 352 35 34

just for belfast thats games goals assists

30 mill! deal of the century

but obviously thats because he was at shit clubs 🙂

  • 73 lesh // Sep 1, 2016 at 1:12 AM

If Ashley’s paying a bonus for profit on sales then Carr and Charnley must be clapping their hands.

But, Rafa must be in line for something – apart from making a lot on players who didn’t want to be here, he’s cleared a lot of the deadwood they signed as well as that which were liabilities.

The wage bill’s been reduced no doubt and the clubs in a far stronger financial position than it was under the stewardship of the so called football board.

Let’s hope this period of quite substantial change pays off.

    Onwards and upwards with Rafa.

  • 74 expatmag // Sep 1, 2016 at 1:16 AM

You can argue the toss all day about the pros and cons regarding Sissoko but what it bottles down to is that the club have made a huge profit on a player who didnt want to play for us any longer.

Great business…….and like I said a few dsys ago, 30 million in the kitty already to start us off next season in the PL………hopefully

Of those leaving the only one I really regret losing is Townsend. Don’t think he’s done himself any favours in his move and would I want him back, no. Has to be lacking in grey matter if he thinks he’s bettered himself.

Of the loanee’s I hope that Armstrong, Sterry and Mbabau come back as better, fitter players.

Can’t see any of the others coming back!

It’s been a fun window and overall good for us.

  • 84 asl123 // Sep 1, 2016 at 1:36 AM

Good business based on money making but not about the quality we brought in. 12 players in, 1 team. Short of players will always never be an excuse, almost. How many of them will really cut in or just becoming squad member? If u ask me, not more than 3 players who really can carry the team now and another assault in PL next season as if. Hoping that I am wrong and will be happy to admit it by end of season.

  • 85 lesh // Sep 1, 2016 at 1:36 AM

You’re not suggesting for one minute that Jib might be posting from different sources and might have slipped up by mixing his posting names up?

Mmmm, maybe posters’ logos are the key to their IDs, however many they may have. If so, that should keep them on their posting toes and catch a few multis out.

  • 86 lesh // Sep 1, 2016 at 1:42 AM

Can’t see Sissoko getting many Christmas cards this year. He’s made a real dog’s breakfast of the past few years and’ll surely regret it as time goes by.

For me this finally the death of the Llambias “purple players” vision that had hurt us so badly over the last few years.

Chieck where art thou? Does anyone know if he got his transfer before the window closed??

  • 94 Magpie Season // Sep 1, 2016 at 4:50 AM

Tottenham wear the same colours as Real Madrid. Close enough for Moussa.

  • 95 custurd // Sep 1, 2016 at 4:50 AM

Sissoko is a donkey. He has a touch like an elephant, is petulant, lazy, and represents everything that is wrong with modern footballers. He only went to the world cup to make up the numbers. Fortunately (for him which, to him, is all that matters) he got a lucky break, ran around like an undisciplined fool and slipped over a few times. £30 million? Thank you very much. I think Everton dodged a bullet there. Let’s see if he can be bothered to put a shift in now he’s got his dream move to Arsenal. Ooops. I mean Tottenham 🙂

  • 96 Magpie Season // Sep 1, 2016 at 4:51 AM

Spurs needed to be taught a lesson. Levy always sells his players for high money, I mean 14mil for Mason? & they bid 2 more for Sissoko. Well done us.

  • 97 Magpie Season // Sep 1, 2016 at 4:52 AM

Anyone know if the 30mil for Sissoko is up front cash or have the board allowed to be in installments?

  • 98 Magpie Season // Sep 1, 2016 at 4:53 AM

Custurd his dream move was to Arsenal or Real Madrid? Or PSG? 😀

    On Sissoko

If he is now motivated playing CL and challenging for the title and turns the 2 games a season that he turned up for us into 15-20 games for them, then he could smash it for Spurs.

But glad we can draw a line under it all now. 30m sitting in the kitty for Jan or next summer ideally.

Rafa pretty much moved on all the big earning players, with 1 or 2 exceptions, and filled the squad with hungry players who have something to prove and want to get into the PL.

We can agree or disagree on personnel, but i like that Rafa seemed to have the same opinions on the positions that we are light. Wouldve liked 1 more wide player but i guess Gouffran may have covered that for this season and we replace in the summer.

  • 101 Ian Toon // Sep 1, 2016 at 6:03 AM

@74- No No No. It’s a form of escapism but the fans don’t have their snout in the trough. What it boils down to is you know the price of everything but the value of nothing. You speak like a financier or accountant certainly not a football fan.

Credit where credit is due Jimmy Smith – the winner of the “Jeez he knows his football” award for getting the window right before, during and after its closing. He had a good window as did the Benitez/ Charnley combine. Benitez has been given the tools now finish the job.

  • 102 Slank // Sep 1, 2016 at 6:25 AM

‘An excellent transfer window for the new Newcastle United.’

That can only be confirmed if we get promotion.

  • 103 Ian Toon // Sep 1, 2016 at 6:47 AM

Newcastle rejected a bid of less than £20 million from Spurs, stating that they would not budge from their asking price but would be prepared to accept five instalments of £6 millon each. At that point, Everton stepped in.

Sissoko, however, refused to fly to Liverpool on a private jet organised by the club or to speak to Ronald Koeman, the Everton manager, prompting Mike Ashley, Newcastle’s owner, to make a rare intervention. He insisted that Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chairman, would have to match their price if a deal was to be done: he obliged. The fee equals the club-record £30 million that Spurs paid for Erik Lamela three years ago.

  • 104 EllaGuru // Sep 1, 2016 at 6:51 AM

What do we all reckon? Is our squad stronger now than it was at the start of the summer? Comments?

I personally feel we have a stronger squad, having shipped out the dead wood and the prima donas and brought in players who are prepared to fight.

Also, and more importantly, we have recruited according to actual needs, rather than trying to appease the fans with some marquee signings. We now have competition all over the park, which is such a rarity.

  • 105 addistoon // Sep 1, 2016 at 6:52 AM

What a stupid move by spurs or at least i think it is, i mean they are a ball playing team and he is just a wrecking ball, this could be the start of their downfall if they have been upfall.

  • 106 Ian Toon // Sep 1, 2016 at 7:11 AM

The sharpshooter Jail for Ashley type poster has passed its sell buy date and is in need of a facelift. Maybe, just maybe the new Aston Villa owner Tony Xia could fill the void. Xia could not have timed his foray on to the world wide web any better to step into the breach. A makeover is in the offing!! A loop on the “too good for” material.

Anyway. Xia soon after purchasing Villa took part in an Q&A session designed to give the impression of communicating with the fans without actually saying anything controversial or of note. That was doubtless the plan, anyway. But in answer to the question “where do you see Villa in five years’ time?” Xia answered: “The top club in Europe with the highest number of fans all over the world.

  • 107 Ian Toon // Sep 1, 2016 at 7:15 AM

Ella- Just read Jimmy Smith’s postings before the window opened. The jist was “you don’t improve your side by selling your best players”
The counter argument was that were playing in the Championship and to win promotion to the PL. Transfer activity purchasing can follow thereafter.

  • 110 LGFUAD21 // Sep 1, 2016 at 7:18 AM

Overall id say it looks like we navigated that window well.

I wouldve loved it if we were able to convince townsend to stay.

Think we may have been wise to get another winger too. But that said hopefully gouffran can maintain his form. Atsu looks like a good prospect but i wouldve preferred to have gone after someone with real experience akin to ritchie for our other flank.

  • 111 LGFUAD21 // Sep 1, 2016 at 7:26 AM

I think one of the key things is that we shifted the deadwood. I think we have managed to build a squad capable of winning this league while also being sensible financially.

We should be in a great position to compete should we get promoted to build on this platform sensibly.

  • 112 Ian Toon // Sep 1, 2016 at 7:26 AM

Addistoon- A team needs balance and blend. Sissoko is a superb athlete and his marauding style will create space and opportunities for others. He has already shown that he is capable of performing on a bigger stage and with better players. Pochettino will get the best out of him. I personally am sorry to see him go but will remember his debut game against Chelsea and that successive managers until Benitez failed to harness his skills.

  • 113 lochinvar // Sep 1, 2016 at 7:33 AM

Sissoko can expect a hostile reception at most grounds now as fans not just at Newcastle know what he’s said and done.
Apart from SJP he won’t relish playing at Everton , Arsenal . Sunderland, West Brom or Palace.
What it is to be loved.

You fawning sycophant, how many of your faces need a lift. Jimmy did not get it right at all, he said it was wrong to sell Wijnaldum and Sissoko when the Lpool fans have found out already his invisibility powers, Jimmy is a good poster who I enjoy reading but many people disagree on a lot of his “wisdom”. His stance on Collos bravery being just one of many.

  • 115 Ian Toon // Sep 1, 2016 at 7:41 AM

What you mean the sort of reception afforded to the likes of Shearer from away fans for most of his time in football . Shearer said it used to motivate him. Moussa is no shrinking violet and anyway they will be too busy abusing the likes of Harry Kane.

No obvious bad apples at the club.

  • 128 9 // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:03 AM

This was an unbelievably good transfer window ending for us, almost certainly the best we’ll ever have.
    A couple of stats:
NUFC home crowd is more than twice as big as the nest biggest in the Championship.
NUFC squad is worth more than twice the next most valuable in the Championship.
Add in Rafa, and Championship champions should be a cert. Roll on!

Ian – What if our supposed best players were simply not good enough when it mattered.
How many times did Sissoko and Gini show up last season?
As much as I am not a fan of Paul Merson and his brand of analysis, he makes a point regarding Sissoko not imposing himself on a game enough to justify the rather exorbitant price tag!

  • 132 EllaGuru // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:07 AM

Budge – Hendrick also left, and I believe they lost another CM (cant remember who or to where)

Derby will for sure be in a transient state when we meet them, but then again so will we.

  • 133 Mag52 // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:14 AM

Much as I couldn’t stand Sissoko while he was here, I wish him well at Tottenham.
He would clearly never have performed for us in the championship, even with Rafa at the helm, so to get £30 mill. or so for him is truly a great result.

  • 134 Spoof // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:15 AM

I’m glad the window is now shut so we can get on with the football and see just how good/bad we really are, I have to say that I am happy with what we have, 3 keepers, 2 specialist RB’s, 2 specialist LB’s, 4 specialist CB’s, 4 specialist DM’s, 3 specialist wingers, just the one specialist attacking midfielder, 3 out and out strikers and 3 utility players.

Wingers are a slight concern as we only have the three and with Aarons and his injuries then we could possibly have done with another and Diame is the only attacking midfielder so that is a slight concern but with Anita, Gouffran and Perez being the 3 utility players then I’m sure we have enough to cope, actually I’ve just remembered Haidara so that’s 3 specialist LB’s but hopefully he will never get a game because he is dreadful.

I think this could be a very good season, really looking forward to it.

  • 139 lochinvar // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:28 AM

What a farce the Sissoko saga has been
” I’ll scream and scream and scream until I’m sick ”
Well Everton and Koleman are Moussa. They made the main bid yet you failed to catch the plane to Merseyside because you were playing Pokemon in London and couldn’t be arrsd to return their phone call.
Meanwhile Spuds had only offered £15m for you which must have been disappointing for your ego at the time. Levy then realised he can’t play poker with big Mike and ups the ante to £30m and you end up at the bitter rivals of the club you wanted to join. Bet the Arsenal fans are breathing a sigh of relief.
Anyway the sordid affair known as the Transfer Window is over and we can get back to football.
Can’t help thinking that back at SJP the club, the players and the fans have found their Mojo , come to think of it we should have signed him but then again Rafa brought him with him.

  • 140 nut meg // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:29 AM

  • 142 Spoof // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:33 AM

Sissoko was treat like shyte by previous managers here and that is the single biggest reason why he has such a poor relationship with the fans.

He is not a winger nor a right sided midfielder, he is central and should have been player there all the time but sadly for him that rarely happened, under Pardew it did briefly the season before last, we had a terrible start to the season but Pardew changed our tactics and formation and we finally saw Sissoko getting a run as a central midfielder with Obertan and Sammy providing the width, as a result we had a great run of results and Sissoko was on fire, sadly due to a combination of Obertan getting injured and Pardew leaving we had Carver who stuck Sissoko back onto the right where he is usually ineffective, and when McClaren came he done exactly the same as Carver and stuck him on the right.

Then along comes Rafa, initially as those before him had done he also had Sissoko out of the centre of the midfield, however it didn’t take Rafa to long to realise that Sissoko is best used in the middle and for the second time in his Newcastle career he had a run of games in the centre of midfield and once again his performances were of a good standard.

Sissoko’s attitude and his manner in trying to force a move was appalling, but the mis-management he has suffered here from 3 of the 4 who have managed him was a hell of a lot worse.

  • 143 Tsunki // Sep 1, 2016 at 8:33 AM

Told you Ian would have a purgative effect, has everyone squeezing their heads in minutes.

I respect a lot of what Jimmy Smith says on various footballing issues but I had to laugh at the idea of Sissoko having any kind of ball control, and intelligence, especially in the crucial last third. I then frowned as I read his scathing indictment on the mass of blogsters who only pass judgement on what they can see without first reading a blinkered stat report.

guys like me who said that we could attract a good manager and good players if we got rid of pardew but were told it would never happen, we were also told that no good players would want to come here, well you were wrong again.
we have a great manager and what he has done to the squad in truley amazing, we now have a squad of players that has cover for most positions we have pace we have power, and we have a guy who can organise it all.
this team will be back in the prem doing well next season, and by well I mean top 10
