Newcastle Player Returns Early From International Duty

U.S. Soccer have announced two changes to their current roster before their World Cup qualifier against Trinidad & Tobago on Tuesday.

Newcastle full-back DeAndre Yedlin was booked in the US last game on Friday night – the 6-0 win against St Vincent and the Grenadines – and therefore he is suspended from the game on Tuesday night.

The communication is that Matt Besler and DeAndre Yedlin are departing with Besler returning home because his wife is due to give birth to their daughter.

So Matt has his priorities right.

DeAndre Yedlin has been allowed by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann to return to Newcastle where he can get more familiar with his new club.

Michael Bradley and Michael Orozco will now join the US squad.

DeAndre will be able to get himself bedded in at Newcastle and get some training in under the expert coaching of Rafa Benitez over the next week – that’s good.

Klinsmann expects this to be a huge learning season for the 23 year-old and big things are expected of the  American at Newcastle.

He’s certainly keen to do very well for the new Newcastle United and that will go a long way in helping him become a success on Tyneside.

Here’s hoping.

Comments welcome.

I think this thread emphasises just how well Yedlin does to play at this level with those short legs. :|. Who takes these photos? National Enquirer snappers?

This site is so quiet, where is everyone, I was planning to take the dogs out for a 15 mile walk, I had it all planned but the weather put paid to that as it is raining, 15 mile in rain is not fun, so I thought I would spend some time on here instead, and it’s like a morgue, what a waste of a day off work, bugger it, I’ll get my light weight rain coat, to warm for the heavy one, see’s later when I dry out!!!!!!!

Dont know why most bloggers are putting Atsu in their best starting eleven.
Just bcos he,s on Chelsea,s books does,nt mean he will be a best option for that position.
I think Gouffran deserves a place for the way he has played this season, and if his form dips, then give Atsu his chance.
To be honest, i dont think Atsu is that good. He could,nt even get a game for Bournemouth.

I wasn’t aware that most were putting Atsu into there starting 11, I certainly wasn’t, Aarons when fit is first choice for me all day long, but as back up and with Aarons being out then against Derby Atsu has got to have a serious claim for a starting spot.

Belfast- He laughed at my attempt at humour a year ago. Remember Lee Charnley went on a guided tour of SJP and ended up as Finance Director.
But you’re right. Has Murphy yet to score for Ireland?

You’d have thought the blog would have learned it’s lesson but no the team sheets keep popping up with names pasted in based not on their career so far but their academy-based potential. I get wishful thinking but the idea that Benitez would chuck a team together for a championship tie composed of loanees and youth internationals who’ve lost their way is worth a chuckle. I expect the likes of Yedlin and Atsu to be tested for some time before they get anywhere close to first team regularity, if ever. Even allowing for squad rotation.

Yedlin has 40 caps so your youth international comment is pretty far off that mark. It was clear he was Janmaat’s replacement so it would not make a lot of sense for him to be benched for a while. He even got in as a late sub in his first game available after practicing with the team less than week. Atsu may need some time, sure but not Yedlin.

Madison – totally agree with those comments.
Yedlin is a very good player. Excellent in the World Cup and cheesed off he didn’t come to us after his performances and instead Spurs nicked him. This lad is fast and can defend and attack well unlike Janmaat who was great going forward but lacked positional sense in defence and Dummett who is just about reasonable in defence only, yet contributes nothing going forward (Lazaar to come in?)
Atsu I don’t know anything about but if The Gaffer wants him that’s good enough for me.

Think As Yedlin is American he’ll have that typical American optimistic/determined outlook/view and that could be good for the dressing room. Think he needs to work on his crossing and tactical sense, he looked very solid at the World Cup with his pace helping him in 1 on 1 situations. At Sunderland he looked a lot more solid defensively

Talking to a lad from Wolverhampton by the pool today. He said they were a bit dubious over his getting deliberately sent off. It just shows that mud sticks, it was an absolute disgrace that Carver publicly accused him of that especially after Jaanmat HAD got himself deliberately sent off. He basically picked Willo out because he thought he was an easy target. Embarrassed that the guy is a Geordie.

Although I’m the eternal optimist I have to say that we are going a little overboard at present. Yes it’s true
we’ve got rid of a lot of the parasites within the squad but you still have to question whether the players brought in make us stronger? The potential is there for sure and the signs are good but it could still implode so let’s hold our horses for now.
I’m off to the Malta v Scotland game tonight and supporting our cousins across the border rather than my host nation simply because of Ritchie and Hanley. The island has been invaded these past few days by the kilt wearing hordes and there’ll be 5,500 officially inside the ground with a a couple of thousand others finding there way in to add to what promises to be a cracking atmosphere.
