Newcastle Player Returns Early From International Duty

1:39 pm, Sunday, September 4th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 44 Comments

U.S. Soccer have announced two changes to their current roster before their World Cup qualifier against Trinidad & Tobago on Tuesday.

Newcastle full-back DeAndre Yedlin was booked in the US last game on Friday night – the 6-0 win against St Vincent and the Grenadines – and therefore he is suspended from the game on Tuesday night.

The communication is that Matt Besler and DeAndre Yedlin are departing with Besler returning home because his wife is due to give birth to their daughter.

So Matt has his priorities right.

DeAndre Yedlin has been allowed by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann to return to Newcastle where he can get more familiar with his new club.

Michael Bradley and Michael Orozco will now join the US squad.

DeAndre will be able to get himself bedded in at Newcastle and get some training in under the expert coaching of Rafa Benitez over the next week – that’s good.

Klinsmann expects this to be a huge learning season for the 23 year-old and big things are expected of the  American at Newcastle.

He’s certainly keen to do very well for the new Newcastle United and that will go a long way in helping him become a success on Tyneside.

Here’s hoping.

Comments welcome.

Have we not just done a thread on Yedlin !!!!!!!!!

  • 2 Tsunki // Sep 4, 2016 at 1:50 PM

I think this thread emphasises just how well Yedlin does to play at this level with those short legs. :|. Who takes these photos? National Enquirer snappers?

This site is so quiet, where is everyone, I was planning to take the dogs out for a 15 mile walk, I had it all planned but the weather put paid to that as it is raining, 15 mile in rain is not fun, so I thought I would spend some time on here instead, and it’s like a morgue, what a waste of a day off work, bugger it, I’ll get my light weight rain coat, to warm for the heavy one, see’s later when I dry out!!!!!!!

Dont know why most bloggers are putting Atsu in their best starting eleven.
Just bcos he,s on Chelsea,s books does,nt mean he will be a best option for that position.
I think Gouffran deserves a place for the way he has played this season, and if his form dips, then give Atsu his chance.
To be honest, i dont think Atsu is that good. He could,nt even get a game for Bournemouth.

  • 5 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 1:57 PM

Ha ha. He does look like an Oompa Loompa.

  • 6 Spoof // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM

    WLtoon

I wasn’t aware that most were putting Atsu into there starting 11, I certainly wasn’t, Aarons when fit is first choice for me all day long, but as back up and with Aarons being out then against Derby Atsu has got to have a serious claim for a starting spot.

  • 7 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM

Atsu and Yedlin I do have reservations over. I haven’t seen enough of them.

  • 8 Spoof // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM

Anyway, come on mutts, walkies———————– ?????????

  • 9 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:04 PM

    Please don’t encourage him Ian.

  • 10 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:05 PM

Or we’ll have wall to wall bad jokes from him the rest of the day.

  • 11 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:07 PM

There’s still a few matches on sky today spoof. Match two just about to start – Gillingham v Sheffield United.

  • 12 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:12 PM

Belfast- He laughed at my attempt at humour a year ago. Remember Lee Charnley went on a guided tour of SJP and ended up as Finance Director.
But you’re right. Has Murphy yet to score for Ireland?

  • 13 Tsunki // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:13 PM

Belfasts super Belfasts smashing Belfasts Great! Belfast can do anything! 😀

  • 14 Tsunki // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:20 PM

You’d have thought the blog would have learned it’s lesson but no the team sheets keep popping up with names pasted in based not on their career so far but their academy-based potential. I get wishful thinking but the idea that Benitez would chuck a team together for a championship tie composed of loanees and youth internationals who’ve lost their way is worth a chuckle. I expect the likes of Yedlin and Atsu to be tested for some time before they get anywhere close to first team regularity, if ever. Even allowing for squad rotation.

Hoorah – blog legend – shluuuup shluuuuup – (hoop cleansing in action).

  • 17 Jail for Ashley // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:28 PM

Belfast has the cleanest hoop in Ireland.

  • 18 MadisonToon // Sep 4, 2016 at 2:47 PM

    Tsunki

Yedlin has 40 caps so your youth international comment is pretty far off that mark. It was clear he was Janmaat’s replacement so it would not make a lot of sense for him to be benched for a while. He even got in as a late sub in his first game available after practicing with the team less than week. Atsu may need some time, sure but not Yedlin.

  • 19 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 3:09 PM

    Haha ! Harrumph to that.

  • 20 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 3:11 PM

Yer right – He’s yet to score a goal for Ireland Ian.

  • 21 wynsleap // Sep 4, 2016 at 3:14 PM

Madison – totally agree with those comments.
Yedlin is a very good player. Excellent in the World Cup and cheesed off he didn’t come to us after his performances and instead Spurs nicked him. This lad is fast and can defend and attack well unlike Janmaat who was great going forward but lacked positional sense in defence and Dummett who is just about reasonable in defence only, yet contributes nothing going forward (Lazaar to come in?)
Atsu I don’t know anything about but if The Gaffer wants him that’s good enough for me.

  • 22 Ron Knee // Sep 4, 2016 at 3:28 PM

    So Armstrong missed a penalty?

  • 23 Tsunki // Sep 4, 2016 at 3:38 PM

Ha ha yes maybe a bit harsh on Yedlin but I stand by the general idea

  • 24 Jail for Ashley // Sep 4, 2016 at 3:46 PM

Hart and Sterling in the team after that debacle in the summer. Big Saams revolution.

  • 25 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:20 PM

    Belfast- Thanks.

  • 26 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:21 PM

He blew smoke up Defoe’s ass for months, touting him for England and then got the job didn’t pick him lol

  • 27 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:24 PM

Same with Mark Noble. He was always touting him for England squads too.

  • 28 Jail for Ashley // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:24 PM

    That is one spotless hoop!

  • 29 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:24 PM

I thought Mark Noble would at least be in the squad.

  • 30 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:25 PM

Not a dingleberry in sight Buster and don’t you forget it.

  • 31 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:31 PM

  • 32 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:45 PM

  • 33 Mister Tuff // Sep 4, 2016 at 4:48 PM

    schluuuuurpppp. schluuuuuurpppp.
    Mmmmmmm tasty.

  • 34 JamesToon // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:20 PM

Think As Yedlin is American he’ll have that typical American optimistic/determined outlook/view and that could be good for the dressing room. Think he needs to work on his crossing and tactical sense, he looked very solid at the World Cup with his pace helping him in 1 on 1 situations. At Sunderland he looked a lot more solid defensively

  • 35 Ian Toon // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:26 PM

He didn’t learn that at the P’ool. Yer right!

  • 36 Ron Knee // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:30 PM

“It looks like the England shirt is Harry Kane’s Kryptonite as he loses all his powers when he puts it on. He hasn’t had a touch in the Slovakia box yet…”

  • 37 Toon Tang // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:37 PM

New look England are making me feel all moist in the gusset.

  • 38 Jail for Ashley // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:38 PM

Talking to a lad from Wolverhampton by the pool today. He said they were a bit dubious over his getting deliberately sent off. It just shows that mud sticks, it was an absolute disgrace that Carver publicly accused him of that especially after Jaanmat HAD got himself deliberately sent off. He basically picked Willo out because he thought he was an easy target. Embarrassed that the guy is a Geordie.

  • 39 Jail for Ashley // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:41 PM

    Bit missing from that post

  • 40 Malta Mag // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:49 PM

Although I’m the eternal optimist I have to say that we are going a little overboard at present. Yes it’s true
we’ve got rid of a lot of the parasites within the squad but you still have to question whether the players brought in make us stronger? The potential is there for sure and the signs are good but it could still implode so let’s hold our horses for now.
I’m off to the Malta v Scotland game tonight and supporting our cousins across the border rather than my host nation simply because of Ritchie and Hanley. The island has been invaded these past few days by the kilt wearing hordes and there’ll be 5,500 officially inside the ground with a a couple of thousand others finding there way in to add to what promises to be a cracking atmosphere.

  • 41 Ron Knee // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:51 PM

    Malta

I hope it’s more entertaining than the England match!

  • 42 SPRINGY // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:51 PM

this england performance is pap….kane does’nt look an international player today, his confidence looks shot, rooney just…nar, different manager but still the same crap….i fell asleep it was so boring.

  • 43 Toon Tang // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:53 PM

    +1

  • 44 Belfast // Sep 4, 2016 at 5:56 PM

Was this pool a blow up one from Asda Jail ?

And why was someone from Wolverhampton in yer blow up pool ??

I actually thought at the time he did get sent off in purpose, but Carver was a fool for saying it publicly.
