Rob Elliot signed his new four year deal today that has been talked about for a couple of weeks now and he seems a happy man.
Rob took to Twitter to express his delight at signing the new deal to stay at Newcastle until at least 2020.

Well done on the new Deal @the_dilsh. Best keeper at #NUFC since the day you joined. Hope you get your place back when fit.

Crazy to see how Rob Elliot’s #NUFC career has changed, this time last season there was doubt that he would even play again for the club.

I remember when @the_dilsh first signed for us and everyone was sceptical. How things have changed. More than earned his new contract. #NUFC

Comment #1Nice one Blobby, despite what you said to that Mag poster a few years ago, which imo carries as much weight as what Sissoko said to me in the airport that day ie should never had made it past a blog post not a headline!

Am confused why my opinion on our 3rd/4th/5th choice keeper needs to be particularly strong? Rafas opinion is obviously important doesn’t mean it’s right though…I’d imagine at this point I’ve seen more of Elliott playing than he has considering his injury coming 2 or so weeks after he was appointed
Also not sure how long of a season u think we are in for that a 4 year deal is required mate
But hey u can be happy Elliott is here for 4 more years doesn’t mean I have to be

Comment #4Mat sels is gonna have alot of competition. Two bad games in a row could be enough to lose this place.

You aren’t allowed to question Rafa!
I’d imagine he has this year, and maybe next year as a challenger for the 1st team slot. After that, I think he becomes an experienced back up who won’t rock the boat if he isn’t playing. Similar to Richard Wright at Man City the last few years.
He won’t be on massive money, and unlike Darlow, Sels, Krul and Woodman won’t be a problem if he isn’t selected moving forwards. I see Krul leaving permanently, then if Woodman continues to progress 1 of Darlow or Sels being moved on in a couple of years. Leaving Woodman, One of, then Elliot with younger keepers loaned out.

i think Elliott is a decent keeper who Rafa wants to keep at the club
do you honestly think Rafa just plucked a 4 year contract out thin air without knowing what he’s getting
