Could This Be Newcastle’s Team For QPR?

6:20 pm, Monday, September 12th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 88 Comments

We think that Rafa Benitez will make around four changes to the side that beat Derby County on Saturday 2-0 – we just don’t know what those changes will be.

But since we have a game at home to Wolves at 3:00pm this Saturday afternoon Rafa is going to have to use the squad, and he has said he will do that.

daryl-murphy

Daryl Murphy – could he get a start?

Here’s a possible team for tomorrow night’s game at Loftus road with five changes from the side that started last Saturday.

Sels
Anita  Lascelles (c) Hanley Lazaar
Hayden Colback
Yedlin/Atsu Diame Gouffran
Murphy

We’re not sure Rafa would want to make too many changes to the back four but there’s two there with Hanley coming in for Mbemba and Lazaar getting his first start in place of Dummett.

Rafa seems to like DeAndre Yedlin so he may get a start on the right wing, but he could also start Christian Atsu there in his usual position.

Rafa has said today that Christian has impressed him in training.

But we think Yedlin is more likely to get the start because he tracks back and works his socks off for the side and that’s really important in away games.

And we’re pretty sure Issac Hayden will start in one of the two holding midfielders – and maybe Jack Colback will keep his place and Jonjo will have a rest.

It’s probably more likely that Aleksandar Mitrovic will start up front rather than Murphy – but we’d love to see the experienced Daryl Murphy get a start.

After all he’s very used to the Championship having played the last five seasons in the second division at Ipswich.

That’s our best shot at the team.

What would your team be for tomorrow’s game?

Really hope we sell Colback and Dummett in January. They are becoming the Williamson and Simpson of NUFC.

  • 2 Belfast // Sep 12, 2016 at 6:28 PM

Nope Kets – They are good squad players and should be kept.

  • 3 Belfast // Sep 12, 2016 at 6:30 PM

I’d be very surprised if Dummett ever gets dropped away from home Ed.

  • 4 Belfast // Sep 12, 2016 at 6:31 PM

    Or rotated whatever ya fancy.

  • 5 Ketsbaia9 // Sep 12, 2016 at 6:34 PM

They aren’t good enough for this league. Sell them.

You’re not good enough for this blog.

    Kets,
You don’t deserve a response you weirdo.

I think this counts as Eds Rafa bingo entry 😀

  • 10 Markaccus // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:05 PM

To everyone, and I am being serious here….

Kets is either the most repetitive troll the blog has ever seen, or he genuinely has a form of autism. The latter would actually explain most of his socially an morally questionable behaviour, and also his obsession with wanting certain players out of the squad. I am not making fun of autism, by the way. I really do think it might be the case.

  • 11 SuperShearer // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:06 PM

Really hope we sell Kets to another blog. Or part exchange him for a packet of Wotsits.

  • 12 Jail for Ashley // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:07 PM

    Markacus,
I agree with both posts @ 9&10 and especially without making fun, that kets has some kind of mental illness.

  • 13 Ketsbaia9 // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:11 PM

Simpson is still useless. The premier league was poor last season. Leicester will struggle this season. They have a great attack but selling Kante was a disaster.

  • 14 Markaccus // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:12 PM

    Jail.

Yeah. Trouble is, i’ve taken the p1ss out of him in the past for some of the tripe, so i have inadvertantly been mocking an ill person all along.

Kets, if you are indeed mentally ill, i take it all back. If you are just trolling, then do one.

    Repetitive tripe for sure.

Love the options, absolutely crazy amount. I’ll be surprised if more than one person gets it to be honest.

    confirmed Rafa bingo

    Sels
    Anita Mbemeba Lascelles Dummett
    Colback Shelvey
    Ritchie Diame Gouffron
    Mitrovic

That’s my actual prediction but wouldn’t it be great if he was to pick a completely different eleven and still thrash QPR, that would make a few sphincters loosen up in the rest of the league. 🙂

  • 21 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:27 PM

Jail how come you keep ignoring my question regarding ppb? Don’t I have a right to know?

    Ron Knee comment 15

Isn’t that the new Sundaland GK, Moyes secret weapon.

  • 23 welshgeordie9 // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:35 PM

Don’t know if this is true but all of the goals qpr scored this season, they have all been from set pieces, so if that is true then i just hope colback times his tackles right tomorrow.

  • 24 Essex Geordie Bill // Sep 12, 2016 at 7:35 PM

Oh and a big congratulations to ex Toon player Coppinger after completing 500 games for Doncaster and even scoring. He’s been a great player for them.

You could chuck in Darlow, Hanley, Gamez, Tiote and Murphy and it would still be a good team.

Aye, the only reason it’s not a quarter full is they will have sent out boatloads of free or £10 tickets to schools, colleges, anywhere else they can virtually give em away. Smallville…

  • 49 Bobbybee // Sep 12, 2016 at 9:02 PM

Well, sunlun must be happy with that. Let’s be honest, any game they reach half time without the stadium emptying has to be better than the last few seasons. 🙂 Not the most exciting match, but I’ll never forgive myself if Everton win and I’m not there to gloat, so here’s to a better second half.

Where do I put my dabber pen?
And when do I shout HOUSE?

The town and the city of Sunderland never could fill its stadium with Mackems. It was always half full of Durham pit lads, and as transport has improved it’s no longer the only show in the only town.

everton could be contenders for top 4 easily this season so thats 7 teams for me who are genuinely in the mix,
quite nice to watch it without the pain of us being in the league

  • 74 Novocastrian66 // Sep 12, 2016 at 9:42 PM

Apparently Lukaku has had 40 unsuccessful shots since his last goal before scoring tonight. There’s hope for Mitrovic yet.

  • 75 BandB // Sep 12, 2016 at 9:46 PM

    Jail,

I not sure I’m convinced of the premiss that Rafa’s teams will be impossible to predict. I there hasn’t been massive rotation so far, and the man himself said he wasn’t going to rotate for the sake of it. I honestly believe everyone will get eight or nine right every week.

  • 76 Novocastrian66 // Sep 12, 2016 at 9:50 PM

Manx; 7 teams in the mix for the top 4. 13 teams in the mix for the bottom 3. Nice to see three red and white’s in the bottom 3. Has a sort of soothing effect.

  • 77 SPRINGY // Sep 12, 2016 at 9:52 PM

    evening all
think there’ll be a few changes tomorrow, can see mbemba, goofy, anita, and maybe gayle or possibly ritchie be rested …mbemba and ritchie were away last week and may feel a bit off the pace two games in four days, goofy seemed to have a bit of a knock and has grafted well of late, and anita coz we have options to rest him, even tho he deserves to keep his place as hes been pretty solid.

  • 78 Jail for Ashley // Sep 12, 2016 at 9:57 PM
