Rafa Benitez – We Can Still Improve – We Made Some Mistakes

10:49 pm, Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 20 Comments

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez (as expected) said that his team can still get better after tonight’s magnificent attacking performance away from home, when our lads took QPR apart 6-0 for Newcastle’s biggest league win on the road for 54 years.

I had just turned 35 back in those days – as I recall.

🙂

It was all Newcastle from the very first whistle and after last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Derby County when we basically contained the home side during the game – Newcastle ripped the London side apart at Loftus Road tonight.

Grant Hanley scores Newcastle’s 6th and final goal

Jonjo Shelvey scored twice and there were other goals from Ayoze Perez, Ciaran Clark, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Grant Hanley as we registered our 6th win in a row in all competitions.

This was what Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez said after the game:

“We can still improve. The team was playing well, everybody was pushing and working hard, but you always make some mistakes.” “The main thing for us was to get the three points so we could leave our fans happy. We also managed to get the clean sheet.”

“We now have to show we can concentrate in every game. It doesn’t matter if we score six goals, we get three points in the end and now have to concentrate on the next game and not lose that concentration.”

“I’m very happy with the strikers.”   “Gayle is playing well, Daryl Murphy is doing well, so to play someone else is always difficult.” “I’m really pleased because we have a good squad and everybody has to be ready to be key players for us for the rest of the season.”

“To have to decide between Gayle, Murphy and Mitrovic is a good problem, but it is a problem – it’s not easy to keep everybody happy.”

“Hopefully we will keep winning and they will understand that it is all for the good of the team.”

There is no limit to what Rafa Benitez wants to achieve at Newcastle this season and in the future – and his standards are of course sky-high given his fantastic record as a football manager.

I’m just so very pleased he is now at Newcastle United!

Perchino had to be pulled off. That’s probably why they didn’t win…. I’m just saying….

    G2

If we play like that against some of the bottom dwelling teams, i wouldn’t be surprised if we did get close to 10. We need to make teams tremble with fear when they play us. We want opposition fans to be saying “Newcastle this week. Expect a hiding of them”

And on cue, Rafa raises the bar.

Just became a father again for the second time and totally forgot we were playing tonight. What an amazing surprise to see that scoreline. Maybe the bairn is a lucky charm!

I could go ahead of the team and scream “bring out ya dead” Markaccus mate. Possibly bang on a drum and shout out other dire warnings. I think it could work trembling with fear wise.

Congrats NUFCPaul mate. You should probably name the bairn Geordie for luck….

    I called it earlier

No matter what happens in the matches Rafa will focus on what he can improve

Other possible dire warnings to scream out:
    Your players are ugly!
We don’t take prisoners or credit cards!
I’m going to wear my narstiest thong at the match!
    What do you lot think?

Ed, we know you’re a Peter Pan but if you were thirty five 58 years ago then that must make you errr, about……

Can you send me of whatever it is you’ve been taking over the years. ?

Rafa would be a nice name Paul. 😉

    Don’t call the lad Jimmy-Floyd if he’s a boy NUFCPaul mate. Or Janice-Floyd if she’s a girl….

Can see Atsu being a good option off the bench, good performance all round and probably should have had 7 or 8.

The trio of Perez, Ritchie and Shelvey all on form will worry sides, some great link up play tonight, Clark was enjoying getting forward when Hanley came on.

I could fancy Pink Floyd for a girl’s name though…..

    BandB

It’s the way Rafa ‘raises the bar’ that just oozes class. Praise and keep the players’ interest and motivation up by challenging them seems to be working so far.

Rafa’s been a real eye-opener and let’s hope our beloved owner lets him continue unfettered.

The rest of the league will be looking at us and shitting themselves thinking “ok lads, lets try and stop them scoring any more than 3. That’ll be a good result”

  • 19 NUFCPaul // Sep 13, 2016 at 11:31 PM

Thanks lads! I’d call him Keegan Shearer Robson Benitez Kilcline Srnicek if it was up to me, but I got to name the first bairn so it’s the wife’s turn to pick now. I hope he can support a team that wins stuff and never knows defeat 🙂

Don’t worry, she didn’t call him Pardew McClaren Sissoko Gini Moyes, so it’s okay.

Congrats, Paul. ‘Sextus’ might be lucky?
