If Wolves park the bus and scrape a draw I hope we don’t get a flurry of posts slating the clueless Rafa for changing a winning team and league one here we come!

  • 2 Jail for Ashley // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:07 PM

    Total Sport question.
Who got promoted with us last time, automatic and play off. It must have been WBA and Blackpool, we hammered Blackpool 4-0 so I reckon WBA were second.

draw wouldnt be the end of the world

After losing 4-0 they’ll probably be working on tightening up the defence

  • 5 funlovingexpress // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:27 PM

QPR tried parking the bus and looked what happened.

Wolves want to play like an italian side but they just can’t do it. They want to keep possessionm and spend lots of the game passing backwards but cant keep the ball.

We will press and harry and its only a matter of time until they make a mistake. They will actually help us by trying to keep the ball in their own half because when they lose it (and they will frequently) we will be on for a goalscoring opportunity.

They have a very poor team and their defence has no confidence at all. They are an accident waiting to happen.

If we get an early goal what happened at QPR could seem nothing.

QPR will finish higher than wolves.

We just need to work hard and bully and chase everything that moves and we will go to town on them.

They are a really terrible team with a shocking defence and try to play the italian way. Its so daft its funny.

Wolves fan mate of mine, said they played awful on Tuesday..too many changes and the side looked disjointed. Expects to be hammered on Saturday, hope he’s right.

“West Bromwich Albion’s long-awaited takeover by a Chinese investment group has been completed, the Premier League club have announced.”

  • 8 LGFUAD21 // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:35 PM

On Rafa and injuries I once read a great piece (will have to try and dig it out) where Rafa talked about training methods.

He said that he thought a lot of coaches had the ration of Conditioning to Ball work completely wrong. It was 20:80 in favour of physical conditions whereas Rafa works to 80:20 in favour of ball work.

His logic was that players would struggle to get fitter than a certain level and therefore all of the hard work would simply increase their likelihood of injury.

A big part of his ration was to not only maintain fitness and improve ball skill but managing injuries by not overworking players.

Must admit I did worry about Gouffy and Ritchie on Tuesday. Both looked knackered after Derby.

  • 9 LGFUAD21 // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:41 PM

Here is the article. I wasn’t quite right in my explanation but interesting read.

Especially for those that spent last season lambasting the fitness of our players (which was poor and I agree) and then going on at the “kids” for not seeing the value in “making them run until they puke” in training.

  • 10 LGFUAD21 // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:42 PM

My big fear is the complacency thing.

Im thankful Rafa is constantly. trying to keep players feet on the grounds.

Also dont like the “We’re newcastle and were gonna win the league” chant.

Great to see the fans excited, loud and together but dont like the arrogance of it.

It’ll still be a tough season.

  • 13 Bambams // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:51 PM

Remember the 10 out of 10 in Keegan managerial stint…..

Little Grimsby came up and we lost 1-0 to I think a lad called Dobbie who hit a 20 yarder in at the Gallowgate.

Must watch out for games we think will be ‘easier’. Rafa is right again.

  • 14 beermonkey // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:51 PM

    cheers an interesting read

  • 15 Jail for Ashley // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:52 PM

I was at the game, it was a right pisser ๐Ÿ™

  • 16 Bambams // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:56 PM

    As was I fella.

I think we only got beaten at home twice that season and if memory serves me right Shrewsbury beat us 1-0

I was gutted we lost the run and everyone thought Grimsby would be the easy game and 11 out of 11 wins would be achieved.

Football is a funny old game

  • 17 hibbit // Sep 15, 2016 at 6:59 PM

  • 21 Jail for Ashley // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:07 PM

Anyone who’s worried about complacency hasn’t been listening to Rafas interviews too closely.

  • 22 Bambams // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:11 PM

We mustn’t get complacent and Rafa is right.

It was gut wrenching when we walked out the ground after they beat us – I think it was raining or that’s just my memory

  • 23 Jail for Ashley // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:12 PM

It’s not impossible to go a season unbeaten as Arsenal and Forest have proved, we can’t do it obviously but there’s nothing to say we can’t go the rest of the season unbeaten. Teams will be literally bricking it before playing us and everyone of our players is scared to have an off day incase they definitely don’t play the next game.

  • 24 Bambams // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:14 PM

Spooky ….Just saw you latest post.

You are spot on and the younger fans amongst us will learn the hard way.

Got some hard games coming up, I also noticed the games in April – we have quite a few home games in the run in. Might be helpful.

Here’s hoping we are well ahead by then.

  • 25 Jail for Ashley // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:17 PM

Few home games in April, that means I must be working away ๐Ÿ™

That’s the problem….Work gets in the way of our hobbies.

Ten years and I retire, mind you I fancy buggering off to Spain then.

Let’s wait and see how our club is doing then eh.

  • 29 Thump // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:28 PM

I expect a draw. Wouldn’t surprise me to see them sit back and defend with their lives.

  • 30 WWSBRD // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:33 PM

They can try and sit back and defend just gives us more space and time to pick them apart

I reckon it’ll be a win but not high scoring personally

  • 31 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Sep 15, 2016 at 7:33 PM

    Arrrgh, winbar.

Hate that fcuking thing. Well I used too before rafa came. Still, tempting fate I will not.

Might stick a cheeky ยฃ50 on both teams to score and us to win.

    Might do a scorecast too.

Haha. I ain’t bet on us in fcuking years, times are a definitely changin people.

doesnt everyone love it how even after the 6-0 win, rafa still came out and said afterwards theres a lot of work and improvements to be made in all areas still.

See if that happened under mccardew, you just wouldnt hear those words

  • 41 Ron Knee // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:12 PM

  • 44 JamesToon // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:15 PM

we’re just so tactically sound, so solid at the back, yet we produced some lovely football last night.

Its obvious rafa is laying the team foundations as first and foremost is that we’re solid at the back, then build from there. Before he came that was my main concern about being “too defensive” but yet, i actually love that we’re hard to break down, but still scoring loads of goals, ok yes we will have those games where we have to grind out results, or even we may lose becuase we didn’t attack enough, but the qpr game just shows we’re not just all about being solid at the back.

  • 52 Jail for Ashley // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:39 PM

Didn’t we have an early kick off in one of our matches that time we made the financially suicidal move of daring to try for Europe

  • 53 Ibizatoon // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:42 PM

Jail…Honestly, not a clue. Just been told the result was all.

Can’t help with the kodi stuff, I know absolutely zero about them, but keep meaning to look into it. Good luck.

I’ve tried to obliterate the memory of the “mistake” of qualifying for Europe. It was almost embarrassing getting that far ahead of ourselves. I mean, who did we think we were…Southampton?

  • 54 Ron Knee // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:45 PM

    Southampton are playing now, Jail.

  • 55 Ibizatoon // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:46 PM

  • 56 Jail for Ashley // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:50 PM

    Strenuously denied!

LGFUAD21 The arrogance of singing we are going to win the league?

You call it arrogance I call it confidence or sheer optimism.

Its no different singing we are going to wembley when we win a third round game.

Hardly arrogance singing we are going to wembley now is it?

Is it arrogant because we actually have a chance of fulfilling the league chant?

Pretty sad life if you can only sing stuff when you have no chance at all.

  • 61 Ibizatoon // Sep 15, 2016 at 8:59 PM

Jail…The differences between Rafa and the previous lot knows no bounds. Completely different class.

    Long may it last.

Ron…I suppose you would say that, but fair enough.

On the subject of arrogance, we must keep grounded, but it’s no secret that we both expect and are expected to win this league. It’s not arrogant imo.

“There are many, many reasons to choose the club. The club has so much that appeals to me.

“Firstly. the club has such a rich history and has achieved many proud moments on the pitch.

    There was no “Secondly” ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 74 Ibizatoon // Sep 15, 2016 at 9:35 PM

“Of course, I also hope that, with the effort of all of us, we could come to the top half of the division in the near future.

“I very much look forward to that.”

Pulis been filling his head with stories of the promised land…
