Rafa Benitez Warns Of Unexpected Wolves Threat

In his press conference this afternoon Rafa Benitez has warned that the game tomorrow will be a lot different from what most people are expecting.

Most people are expecting Newcastle to win it rather easily, after we won 6-0 away at QPR and Wolves got hammered 4-0 at home by Barnsley in mid-week, with all four goals coming in the final 17 minutes of that game.

This is some of what Rafa has said today in his press conference:

“The team can still improve and play better. That doesn’t mean to score more goals but control the game and play well.”

“This is the Championship. It’s a tough competition and we have to be ready for the next game. We have to respect the opponent.”

“Wolves are not a bad team. They are doing well. It will be totally different to what people are expecting.”

“We are not better than anyone before the match but we can be better than a team on the pitch.”

“We have to be focused.”

After such a wonderful attacking performance away from home from Newcastle, Rafa is faced with lowering the massive expectations for the game tomorrow against Wolves.

Those comments are addressed to both his players and to the fans – that it could turn out to be a lot tougher than we  expect.

Still Newcastle fans are expecting a win tomorrow.

What we need is the 3 points and a 1-0 win will be just fine with us.

Raf also mentioned that it’s unlikely that Daryl Murphy or Achraf Lazaar will feature  tomorrow and they are likely to make their debuts on Tuesday night against Wolves in the EFL Cup 3rd round tie.

Comments welcome.

I found the following on a Wolves fans blog site and thought to myself that I would give them their victory if this improbable action actually happened:

The fog on the tyne will descend upon Ikeme’s goal on 46 minutes (still 0-0 at this stage). Thus making it very difficult for the rampaging Geordies to see our goalposts. Rafa Benitez will become increasingly agitated as the fog fails to lift and this will transmit in to the Toon army who will begin try and suck the fog into the stands. Anxiety will grow and transmit to John Jo Selvey who will inexplicably strike the ball back to his goalie who just happens to be standing on the half way line trying to see through the fog. The ball will sail over his head for an unfortunate own goal. With the Toon in turmoil and the fog affecting only the Wolves half, we will pour forward and grap another 2 goals to pull off a fine win. Rafa will end up sectioned under the Mental Health Act after trying to bomb the Met Office after the match such is his dissolusionment at weather.Meanwhile the ecstatic WZ spends Saturday night on the piss in Newcastle and ends up asleep in the Metro station surrounded by Newcy Brown bottles as he usually only drinks Italian wine and there is none of that about up there. So a splendid weekend to come.

So as a fan who likes to speculate on the team I’m enjoying the challenge of guessing Rafa’s starting 11. I think we will see Richie and Anita rested this weekend and the team will be:

Even with resting Richie, Gouffran, Mitro, etc. that’s a pretty formidable offensive 5 at this level.

That’s the same as WW…’s almost the same as mine but I have Mitro in place of Diame, we could have two people on five points a piece or fifty with none 😮
“Rafas bingo you need all eleven no prizes for guessing five, six or seven
