Newcastle Scouting These Two Top Players In Belgium

12:30 pm, Saturday, September 17th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 18 Comments

Newcastle United scouts on Thursday night were reported by the Belgium press to be at the Europa League game between Anderlecht and Gabala, which the Belgium side ended up winning 3-1.

The web-site Purplespirit have suggested that Newcastle are interested in a couple of top Anderlecht youngsters –  Youri Tielemans and Leander Dendoncker.

Youri Tielemans – 19 year-old Belgium U-21 midfielder

Youri Tielemans is a 19 year–old central midfielder who has already played 14 times with 6 goals for the Belgium U-21 side and he has played 143 games for Anderlecht with 21 goals, since making his debut in 2013 when he was just 16 years old.

Tielemans is the youngest Belgian player ever to play in the UEFA Champions League when he made his Champions League debut at the age of 16 years and 148 days.

Youri is considered one of the brightest young prospects in world football and it makes sense that Newcastle are watcing this player.

Leander Dendoncker is a 21 year-old defensive midfielder who has played for all the Belgian Youth sides and once for the full Belgium side.

The 6ft 2ins tall player can also play in central defense and he’s played 81 times for the Anderlecht first team.

Newcastle have already done some good business with Anderlecht having signed both Chancel Mbemba and Aleksandar Mitrovic last summer from the top Belgian club.

It is an important season for Newcastle and manager Rafa Benitez will be keeping in close contract with Chief Scout Graham Carr on which players he is watching.

The plan is that we will (hopefully) get straight back to the Premier League next May and that being the case Rafa Benitez will want to strengthen the squad further by bringing in some new players.

Rafa is also keen to get some top young players into the club and both of these players seem to be very good from what we can tell.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

You’ve basically just echoed by views on Rafa at present, yes he is highly respected and he is doing a superb job, no doubt about it, but to say he is already a legend is a bit too much, I think he could and I hope that he does become a legend, but there is a long way to go yet before he gets that title, well in my eyes he still has a long way to go, but he is going about it in a very good way.

We all love our football up here ( I know that some are from different parts of the country and world but you get my drift ) and to be in a position where we can look to the future with hope and to be really enjoying the present is an almighty achievement for Rafa, my take my hat off to him, but at present he is not a legend, but I genuinely believe that he will be.

According to The Telegraph Rafa is telling Big Sam to consider Jonjo for the England tea.

Jail hope your’e not stuck because of the French air traffic controllers, heard they were going on strike again.

On the plus side if they do decide to park buses on the pitch is that they will concede a lot of fouls, as we’ve seen we are suddenly good at set pieces, also they may easily pick up a lot of cards, yellow and red.

Could u define a legend mate?

I doubt big Sam would listen to Rafa they hate each other

It’s also been reported that we may be looking at Jean-Kevin Duverne who is a 19 year old CB playing for Lens, I mentioned on a previous thread that Rafa could possibly better the achievements of KK and Sir Bobby as he could develop the youth/academy side as well as make us a genuine challenger in the PL, these are the type of lads we should be looking to bring in as developing from your own region could be limiting, look for good talent locally by all means, it would be criminal not too but we do need to look further afield as well, building a team for now is important but building one for the future is also important, we seem to be doing that, long may it continue.

We have to get to know these teams around us. Not that we intend to stick around, but if we’re ti blast out of hell we need to know who else is gunning for it.

So, apart from my game, I want to see how Huddersfield do vs. QPR. It could be an indication.

Totally agree, although the Academy team is actually doing pretty good so far this season and he has already bought in a couple of promising youngsters.

Rafa is going the the whole Toon set up like a doze of salts.

Tieleman has some big admirers in top leagues it would be stunning if he picked Newcastle I cant see it happening no idea on the other lad though

For me in a footballing sense it is someone who changes the course of what the club was for the better and gets them to either reach or get really close to maximising there potential, now Rafa has changed our course so he has made some inroads but as yet we are nowhere near reaching our full potential, he needs to as least get as close to that as Sir Bobby and KK did before I could class him as being a legend, but that’s just my view, others no doubt will have different views, whats your definition of a legend by the way.

Could u define a legend mate?

My brain is seemingly still addled from a lot of alcohol last night! Please fill in missing words and letters as appropriate in my comments.

Like the look of these two players.Mentioned in here by someone couple of times before, especially Tielsman.

  • 13 WWSBRD // Sep 17, 2016 at 12:54 PM

Similar to urs but Id add in doing something memorable as well, for instance Cisse with his run of goals when he first signed and that goal against Chelsea will be a legend

I think Rafa choosing to join us then staying with us when relegated and setting the club back on track regardless of the outcome will become a legend

  • 14 WWSBRD // Sep 17, 2016 at 12:56 PM

Haha true but by that definition Rafa will be in that, not many wont remember when the CL winning coach Rafa joined us

  • 15 Spoof // Sep 17, 2016 at 12:59 PM

I wouldn’t be surprised if we landed some of these top rated youngsters, don’t forget the earliest we or anyone could sign them is in January and you never know how the ground will lie at that stage, if we are well on course for promotion and we have to believe that we will be then joining us could be attractive to these lads, going to a top 4 side could be a backward step as these sides rarely give kids a chance, they would rather spend £30/40m on the ready made article than develope, so coming to a 52000 full stadium with more chances of playing and be managed by Rafael Benitez could look very attractive to these lads.

Confirmed 6000 tickets for Barnsley we get one end .

I assume there will be no links for today ?

  • 17 WWSBRD // Sep 17, 2016 at 1:04 PM

Oh i think we will be abole to attract good players but Tielemans is meant to be on the radar of the top level clubs and we arent going to be able to compete with them

And ur right going to a big club isnt always the best idea for young players but they are still going to go there if offered
