It will be a tough game at Villa Park tomorrow afternoon even though Aston Villa under new manager Roberto Di Matteo have made a slow start to life in the Championship and are currently in 18th place in the league with 8 points from the first 8 games and only one win.
But Aston Villa will go all out to win the game tomorrow against one of the clubs who went down with them in May.
Mohamed Diame – Championship is tough
One of many good acquisitions Rafa brought in this summer was Mohamed Diame, who we picked up for just £4.5M from Hull when we met the release clause in his contract – and the Senegal International agreed to join Newcastle and take a step down in leagues.
Mo has a lot of experience in the Championship with Hull and last season he appeared 45 times for them and scored the dramatic winner against Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final at Wembley.
Mohamed has been interviewed in the Chronicle today and he was asked about the tough Championship – this is how he responded:
“Yeah, it’s really tough. This league is long and tough.” “The most important thing is to work hard and stay focused. If you do you will get results.”
“This is a massive game against Aston Villa and an important one for our season. Good players like to be involved in these games.”
“It’ll remind us of playing in the Premier League and what it’s like to play at big stadiums away from home.”
“It’s a massive game for us, we know that all Aston Villa fans are expecting a good game against Newcastle but we will be going there to win the game.”
“We will be trying to get maximum points in the next two games and if we can get a lot of work done before December that’s really important.
“It is important to stay in the race and stay at the top of the table.” “We needed to react after losing to Wolves. The reaction was important and the lads showed that.”
“Now we need to stay focused and prepare for the game with Aston Villa. It is important to win.” “Even though’s it’s an away game we need to get 3 points.”
“A cup run is important because we have a big squad.” “We have to make sure that everybody gets minutes and stays focused with the team.”
“We need to get our targets and get where we want to be.”
We really do need to win our next two league games against Villa and Norwich City – the other club who went down with us in May.
Newcastle fans seem fairly confident we can beat Aston Villa, but we don’t think it’s going to be an easy game by any means.
