Wins Like This Make Us Believe Anything Is Possible

Dwight Gayle may have just played his most memorable game of his career when after missing several chances early in the game against Norwich he eventually hit a hat trick – all good goals but non better than his winner with almost the last kick of the game.

How he managed to get a shot off with four or five Norwich defenders around him we will never know – but he did and scored to give Newcastle a sensational win right at the death.

Newcastle now have 19 points from 10 games and are in 3rd place in the league table.

Yoan Gouffran scored a header five minutes into stoppage time to equalize and then Gayle hit the winner one minute later – simply unbelievable.

This is what Dwight has said today about his heroics:

“That’s my fourth hat-trick I think and definitely the most dramatic and my favourite one.”

“The fact it was at home as well and the last goal right at the death proved to be the winner made it even more special.”

“It’s unbelievable to do that in front of these fans.” “The feeling when I scored that last one with virtually the last kick is something I will never forget.”

“The funny thing is that I could have had a hat-trick in the opening 20 minutes.”

“After the last game against Villa, and then that, you start to think ‘is it your day?’.” “But we just kept on going and played all the way to the last minute, and it worked out for us.”

“Wins like this make us believe anything is possible.”

Those two goals at the end prove just how important it is never to give up and keep going until the very end, whether you’re winning or losing.”

“It just shows the character in the team and the togetherness. Those celebrations at the end show what a great team spirit there is here.”

Norwich had scored three goals to go from 1-0 down to 3-1 up against what has recently been a solid Newcastle defense.

So Rafa will want to ensure that defense tightens up for tomorrow’s game at Rotherham, but the  team he will field is anybody’s guess.

It’s really hard to predict what Rafa’s team will be for any given game.

But we need to beat Rotherham – that’s all the matters now – and it will not be easy.

    Rotonda,
Not sitters at all and the important thing is that he got in to the position to get them at all, as for the solid defence, a forward gave away the penalty which was blatantly looked for, a wonder goal and a deflection, the possession percentage, shots for, and fouls against tells its own story of the match.

A lot of local derbies in this division which is very good for us, sometimes form and position goes out of the window when it’s a fierce local rivalry, Huddersfield have to play Barnsley and Rotherham away who will be looking for revenge.

I thought he ( Rafa) was going to reveal he got drunk after the game and got a toon badge tattooed on his leg.

No so such luck he’s got too much class to do that.
Rather that he had a warming glass of a fine Riocha and a discreet tattoo of the NUFC logo on his left buttock.
