Same experts that wasted their bingo pick by putting Darlow in goal?

Didnt think we played well today. Against the bottom side in the championship and we were the width of the post away from being equal to them.

Dont understand why Anita ahead of Yedlin. Yedlin offers so much more, give him a season to get ready and he can handle the PL, his link up with Ritchie should be encouraged not broken up every other game.

Dummett did ok i thought, no real competition for him right now with Haidara and Gamez not fit and Lazaar seemingly a long way off being ready.

Atsu looked promising, pace to burn.

Mitro needs game time though for me, seems a waste to have Shelvey, Ritchie and Atsu crossing in and no Mitro in there. Play ‘itro up top and Gayle in and around him, then he can drop in as the 10 when we lose the ball.

Anyway a win is what matters i know, just think we should approach games like this looking to dominate and be out of sight early rather than hanging on at the end against poor opposition.

  • 4 NoahJ // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:19 PM

Ritchie is far and above our most intelligent midfielder. If he’s fit enough to be on the bench, he’s fit enough to start. He needs to start

  • 5 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:21 PM

It’s possible, isn’t it, that he wanted to rest Ritchie and felt Anita provided a tadge more defensive cover than Yedlin?
And that he thought Atsu and Yedlin was an inexperienced pairing, one in which one might push on without the other tracking back.

  • 6 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:28 PM

    Noah J
Ritchie is in with a good chance of playing for Scotland against Lithuania and Slovakia both world cup qualifiers. I think Rafa was trying to do him a good turn.

  • 7 Chancel be a fine thing // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:31 PM

Would agree the goalscorers get a lot of ‘regardless’ votes, but is it not possible to score a goal and be the best player? I thought atsu looked our most dangerous/creative player when on and to call him best player would be a fair shout imo. Should have saved that critique for another week maybe.

  • 8 Thump // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:35 PM

Have to say, if Rotherham keep playing like that I can’t see them being down there for much longer. We were poor, though.

  • 9 LGFUAD21 // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:35 PM

Summer defends well but offers little else.

I’d have kept Gayle on and subbed Diame for mitro as he offered nothing.

Motm for me would be either darlow who made some great saves or Lascelles who commanded at the back when we were under pressure.

    We carried Diame all game

  • 10 NUFCPaul // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:41 PM

So now the village idiot is whining about Atsu being voted MOTM by the majority. Either he didn’t watch the game, or did watch it and doesn’t have enough football knowledge or common sense to see that Atsu played well regardless of his goal.

Still, it’s to be expected from sub-human scum, isn’t it?

  • 11 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:46 PM

Already held my hands up and acknowledged it was a daft comment.
NUFCPaul seems like nice chap 😎

  • 12 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:50 PM

Atsu did what he does well – fed , prompted and pushed by Shelvey , who was head and shoulders the man of the match.

  • 13 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:53 PM

Wolverhampton are being very profligate in front of goal tonight – they should be at least on level terms with the Canaries.

  • 14 WWSBRD // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:53 PM

Some people would learn from that to then not make more daft comments

  • 15 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:54 PM

We are still a reasonably unbalanced team.
Diame is playing as a number 10, when he is really a ball-carrying midfielder.
Gouffran is playing as a wide striker, with no real qualities as a winger. He works hard covering and scores vital goals.
Colback tidies up semi-efficiently in his own backyard but offers little protection to Shelvey, who has to make his own space to play and can be overwhelmed and negated if the other team is pressing hard.
Dummett covers his slot. but in combination with Gouffran means we attack down one side.
Rafa isn’t going to play a combination of Gayle and Mitrovic or Gayle and Perez.
If Mitrovic plays, Perez will play.

  • 16 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:56 PM

No-one had a terrible game and no-one had a great game. That in itself is probably why we didn’t concede and won by a single goal.

  • 17 NUFCPaul // Oct 1, 2016 at 6:58 PM

Jib – I’m civil to those who are civil to me. Last Saturday you chose to say negative things about me unprompted, so don’t sit there and act as if you’re innocent. As I said earlier, you’re very sly.

  • 18 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:01 PM

    Jib needs an enemy.
If hasn’t one, he can’t stop himself attacking regular posters, for which he gets blackballed. You are playing his game.

  • 19 Mister Tuff // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:01 PM

Jib Jibberish (blog pest and purveyor of duff info)

As usual we are not amused at your drivel offerings on the blog.
Thought we’d heard the last of you when you reported watching the golf – Mmmm -changed his game I thought – obviously no such luck.

  • 20 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:03 PM

    Wolves 0 Norwich 2
Right against the run of play

  • 21 Mister Tuff // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:03 PM

Oh – see there has been an intervention – indeed Jib is sly, like his blog boss Ian Toon – another sly dog.

  • 22 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:10 PM

  • 23 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:14 PM

Rated him highly. Puzzled as to why he only started now.

For me he needs a run of games then to be rotated by Ritchie.

Would love to see the following line-up next game.

    Yet to start them two…

  • 24 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:17 PM

And Gorgonzola wins the five pound prize for being the first to suggest dropping our most consistant and active player on the basis of what he’s seen in a one-half performance.

  • 25 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM

Alex Neil whinging about stoppage time again

  • 26 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM

Whats your issue? So what if he is consistent Atsu is a shock player. What are you 12? what kind of moronic reasoning is that? Typical childlike thinking, and complacent too.

    Give me a break.

  • 27 Jail for Ashley // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:21 PM

gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola
On a scale of one to ten, how gutted were you that Gouffran only hit the post rather than score a spectacular own goal you could have laughed out loud at?

  • 28 NUFCPaul // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:22 PM

BandB – oh, I’m well aware of his stupid little games. I might not be a regular here much, but I know he’s an idiot who likes to stir. It’s a shame we have dolts like him on this blog who try to ruin the harmony on a regular basis. The more he digs at people on here, the more of a total saddo he looks.

  • 29 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:24 PM

I’m thinking of inventing a football game for X-Box where there is no limit to squad size, unlimited transfer funds and no transfer window.
There will be no limit on substitutes and you can take players off and put them back on again whenever you attention span runs out and you are feeling a bit bored during your free afternoon from lessons.
In fact, it will be just like that rather popular X-Box basketball game.
    Should keep the kids happy.

  • 32 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:30 PM

That amusing, coming from a person whose objection to the whole season season can be summed up with the petulant phrase “I’m SOOOOO bored!”
    You got the Basketball Jones.

  • 33 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:30 PM

Not quite sure but on a scale of 1-10. I would give you a clear 10 of what an absolute c0ck you are.

Hell always has a legit reason why somebody should play instead of somebody else. Why well because somebody suggested otherwise.

If that winds you up go take your scrotum for a walk would you.
Pathetic and embarrassing. Have a great life you low-life peasant.

  • 34 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:31 PM

Gah, my obsession during the summer, Brady, wins it for Norwich with a peach of a strike.

Only kept pace with those around us today, was hoping to make some gains.

  • 37 WWSBRD // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:36 PM

Do u do this parody stuff on twitter too?

  • 38 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:38 PM

So what is your retort here regarding Atsu? Not playing him then?
Great, the match would have ended in a draw, today in particular.

Well done you are a brilliant tactician and you are so clued up on the statistics of playing players that are constantly performing.

Wow what a truly great mind, then get shown the door its a hissy fit.

  • 39 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:39 PM

Atsu had a lively half and scored a very good goal.

What claims beyond that are you making?

  • 40 nufc786 // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:40 PM

was wondering what happened to Mehdi Abeid and this is what came up. The article states that he has had a good start with his new club Dijon which was recently promoted to ligue 1 with an impressive game against PSG and a nice assist against Rennes.

  • 41 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:41 PM

That’s a reasonable question, which you can offer a reasoned response to.

  • 42 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:49 PM

You are missing strictly come dancing you know !

  • 43 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 7:51 PM

Really Jib, I should let you kill the blog with that again.
You are obsolete, even as a nuisance.

  • 44 firebug666 // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:03 PM

It was a decent enough game today, we handle the pressure we were under well enough, kept another clean sheet, and managed to bring back the 3 points, it was a great strike by Atsu.

If any criticism, I would say we lacked a bit of creativity, when we got forward chances created were few (except from set plays) and we were reduced to long shots.

I think we need to invest in a decent playmaker in January, someone who play that killer pass to open up defences.

See this Jib, Multitasking here, watching TV, Talking to our lass and typing on the blog at the same time.

  • 45 Bambams // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:05 PM

It is a long season. Players will be rested.

I don’t care if we don’t win 2-0 3-0 or better as long as we win.

Rafa is right she he keeps saying it’s a long season of many games.

Our squad will come into its on then.

  • 46 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:11 PM

    Ritchie was a miss !
I hope he comes through the internationals unscathed !

  • 47 Jail for Ashley // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:15 PM

Everyone you strike a conversation with about us mentions the size of our squad, this is going to be a huge advantage as the season drags on and injuries and suspensions start kicking in.

  • 48 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:16 PM

    We’ve signed a few players.
I understand that people want to see them. But it always seems that some people are always convinced that the players who aren’t getting a game are automatically our best players.
We don’t have a creative player who can regularly shape matches. If we did, I imagine they’d be playing…..probably in the Premier League.
Rafa is going to seem like a stodgy, stick-in-the-mud old fart to fans who switch off without a thrill a minute. But it’s the way he is.

  • 49 Jail for Ashley // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:19 PM

I had to leave the commentary just after the Gouf had hit the post, I didn’t get the result till forty minutes after that 😮

  • 50 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:23 PM

If you scroll back I was giving you instructions how to view the game without downloading any thing onto your work pc’s .
Unfortunately you have the attention span of a goldfish plus Ed’s early morning multiposts so you missed it.

  • 51 posada // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:25 PM

    B and B at 15.
I would agree with all of that.
I suspect the problem for Rafa is Shelvey. Can run a game and create chances with forward balls. But I feel he lacks mobility and the ability to put the work in. what he is he is I’m afraid. Created the goal, 2nd one that is on Wed, but perhaps was not close enough to their player for the 2nd and 3rd of their goals.
Is that why he plays an extra midfielder in a forward position to shore in up a bit.
Perhaps I am being harsh but in a 4/2/3/1 you have to think of Drinkwater and Kante last year. None stop work.

  • 52 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:25 PM

Ritchie played almost a full half today.
Unless we regularly go in at least one goal up, you could argue he wasn’t.
My point is that a decent half by Atsu or Murphy is just that….We aren’t kids in a toy shop…..”that’s my favourite, no, no.. that one is…mum, mum, take this one back, I want that one!”

You’ve got to admire a chap who started the day by scoffing at everyone who’d picked Darlow today and is still absolutely full of shit.

  • 53 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:28 PM

I think it may have been the last genuine attempt at a football opinion on a day when we won again and briefly went second.

  • 54 Jib // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:29 PM

  • 56 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:31 PM

Shelvey and Diame are two different types of specialist midfielder who could play alongside the obligatory DM.

  • 57 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:35 PM

Have another pot noodle and dream up another Walter Mitty life story far more interesting than your own.

  • 58 Jail for Ashley // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:37 PM

I was hoping Tiote was going to come in and do a job this season, he looked totally off the pace against Villa and don’t see where he’s going to get match practice, why don’t clubs have proper reserve teams anymore. It seems like a bit of a slap in the face if you make a player like Tiote play in the U23’same.

  • 59 BandB // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:42 PM

I was with you on Tiote. His sun set when we gambled over a couple of million for him and lost. With the right approach, he could have played a role.
But they want him out but he doesn’t feel he needs to strike a deal to save the club some money. He’s looking after number one, as they did.

  • 60 Jail for Ashley // Oct 1, 2016 at 8:42 PM

Are you suggesting that Jeff from Benwell, sorry I mean Jib, isn’t a learned professor of modern history or a intrepid veteran of the Balkans and Afghanistan, a forward prop for Tynedale rugby club and hoster of parties to the stars.

He’s a notorious gobshite postman from North Shields who was once desperate to be well in with some Mackem reject footballers.

Your multitasking ability is most impressive.

Your good lady must’ve been truly delighted with your full and undivided attention. Has she come back yet?

  • 63 posada // Oct 1, 2016 at 10:00 PM

    B and B
Aye, but what does a specialist midfielder mean. For me it means you have to create a position for them.
Normally they are not good at defending, so you try to create a free role or more advanced role. The rest of the team then have to work round them or for them.
I know some folk argue that one midfielder sits and one is more advanced. often referred to as the diamond. For me it only works if the other side play the same way and its too simple.
I think centre midfield is player against player. If someone makes a run you have to track it. If the other team know you play a rigid one sitting one more advanced they will try to exploit it if they can and why wouldn’t they.
Hope that makes sense. If it doesn’t I’m sure Jib can pick a few holes in it.
Anyway off to Spoons for a couple of John Smiths. £1.69 a proper bargain.
