How Rafa Benitez Has Prepared His Players For Rotherham

Newcastle fans remember after we had routed QPR 6-0 away – and yes it could have been more – that we played at home against what looked like a very beatable Wolves side and proceeded to put in our worst performance of the season.

So this must be Newcastle – because we followed our best performance of the season and our biggest win four days later with our worst performance and our biggest defeat of the season.

That’s one reason it’s so hard to be a Newcastle fan – you are put through the wringer regularly.

After playing top of the league Norwich at home on Wednesday night we are now at Rotherham United who are bottom of the league.

We somehow managed to beat Norwich with two goals in the last two minutes of stoppage time, but in truth we were the better side overall and deserved the win.

So what happens this afternoon?

It’s a potential banana skin game and Rafa knows that and has said this about the game in the Chronicle:

“I told our players about what people were saying after the Queens Park Rangers game when we played Wolves.”

“People said we had to win the next one easily.”  “So that’s a good experience from recently for us.”  We don’t underestimate our rivals.”

“We have watched clips and videos, this is a good team with good strikers. They are making some mistakes but they still aren’t a bad team.”

“With their fans behind them they can be dangerous. So we have to makes sure we go there and are prepared for a tough game.”

Newcastle fans are still very confident of the win, so anything less than that will be another huge letdown.
